The chip on my phone was damaged a while back. I bought this one with a little bit of trepidation, but I can say after using every day for the last 4-6 weeks that I have not see the dreaded "This attachment may not be compatible with this device" warning. Ironically, I saw that message popup recently while using a genuine apple cable.
