I hit Best Buy during its 20% off discount sale on small appliances. I also had another discount coupon plus reward zone points. So, I ended up getting the fan at half off. Still expensive, but a little more justified as the fan feels and looks quality. I wanted "white noise" to help sleep and extra air circulation. This fan on the highest setting (10) sounds like you are inflight on a commercial airliner or in a hotel room with the rooms A/C unit cranked up to high! Just a smooth steady white noise sound that helps with a good night's sleep. Around 5 or less, you barely hear it. Anyway, no fan is ever going to be "quiet." The air coming from it is impressive at all levels. I can sit it directly on the floor and the height is perfect for airflow right across the top of my bed. The remote is great. The magnetic feature to set it on the top of the unit is nice. Cleaning will be easy. It was an easy set up right out of the box. It is an unobtrusive fan. Looks great. Performs awesome. If you can get it on sale, I highly recommend it.

Posted .Hi Matt, this is Kelly with Dyson. Our air multiplier line, unlike an AC unit that is designed to chill the air, consists of blade-less fans. The air temperature does not change, it is the air flow which cools the user. Each of the machines have the option of increasing the speed of the air expelled from the machine, which is adjusted with the remote control. You can change the air speed from levels 1-10 on your AM07 unit, however you cannot change the cool air temperature.

The air coming out is also cool. The only complaint is that it doesn't keep the entire room cold, but it's great!

The AM07 fan works by drawing air in by a mixed flow impeller, however, only a small percentage of the air generated passes through the impeller the rest of the air is drawn from the surrounding air. Thank you for your review. The Dyson AM07 is designed to be quieter than any of our previous offerings and it features a maximum noise output of 64 dBa. By reducing turbulence within Dyson Cool™ fans, Dyson engineers were able to make them quieter. To do this, they streamlined the airflow paths within the machines, allowing air to pass through smoothly. They also designed a Helmholtz cavity for each fan, which captures and dissipates sound from the motor.
Reducing turbulence makes the fans quieter, but it also means that less energy is required to move air through them. While the fans still produce powerful airflow, their motors are calibrated to run more slowly, drawing 10% less energy.

Air conditioning units and the Dyson Air Multiplier™ fan are two very different products that work in very different ways. An air conditioner refrigerates the air it supplies, allowing the air in the room to be made cooler than the ambient temperature outside. The Dyson Air Multiplier™ fan cools a person by moving air over and around them.

I can't sleep because of the noise

The fan was not set to oscillate when the noise occurs. This is my first and last experience with this manufacturer.

Great but a little expensive

Initial I had my doubts just because of my previous fans I’ve used through the years, a lot of them had a distinct flaw from one to another. But honestly this fan covers a lot of issues I’ve had with previous fans. From a lack of stability to being loud. This fan has a really good flow system to the point where I can stay in my room with the door close. A little background is that I tend to play PC games in my room and it gets really humid due to my PC heating up. A lot of fans would just be too loud and not get the job done. I never really spent a lot on a fan but I would say this was worth it as it was small and powerful and still not too loud unless on max settings. Everyone the solution to your humid problems is this fan!

Ehhh Not What I Expected

The room was still hot. I left it on for hours and the fan didn't do anything to make the room cooler. It looks really cool, totally modern, and nothing like I've ever had. But not for me.

Great fan, very expensive

I owned the first model and it is definitely a lot quieter while deliver the same amount of air. I think Dyson could have stepped it up a notch and made the engine a little more powerful, but the loop is very very light I feel that it would just wobble all over the place. I did have to return it because the oscillating feature on the fan I purchased was making a weird noise, but I'm just waiting on the refund to go back on my credit card so I can purchase the nickel colored fan. I would definitely recommend if you want great looks and cutting edge technology albeit for a hefty price.
