Your machine will work with two airflow modes, as part of Dyson Jet Focus technology. This will allow you to set your unit to blow out in a diffused mode for whole room use or focused mode for personal heating. Dyson AM09 will also will have an air flow control which will increase the speed of the air expelled from the machine, this can be adjusted with the remote control. Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your support. The AM09 possesses our latest development, Jet Focus technology. This new technology gives the ability to switch between
fast whole room, or long reach personal heating and cooling.
The Hot+Cool has re-engineered airflow paths for reduced air turbulence, making it quieter than its
predecessor. It also has a new sleep timer feature, making it perfect for night time use. This can be set between 15 minutes and 9 hours.
This new machine has two annular apertures expelling two jets of air. The first jet of air is used for personal use only, air is released and accelerated over an airfoil shaped ramp. This is redirected by a focus ramp, which projects air towards the user. For whole room use in diffused mode, a jet of air is released from a second aperture. As the two jets meet, the second jet of air intercepts the first and draws it to sit at a 45 degree angle, releasing a wide stream of powerful airflow.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you're not having a more positive experience with your Dyson AM09 Fan + Heater. We wouldn't expect the machine to be more noisy, while in heat mode. You will certainly hear noise, as with any normal fan or heater, and the higher the airflow setting, the more noise that will be present. When using your machine in heat mode, if you set the target temperature on the unit to 72 degrees, and it's 73 in your room, the machine will be on, but not blowing any air. You will notice a slight change in sound when the room temperature drops and the AM09 begins to blow heated air.

In cooling mode, the Dyson Hot+Cool™ fan heater is a powerful fan. It is not an air conditioner. AM09 can be used in conjunction with an air conditioner to circulate cold air further and faster saving you money and energy. Thank you for your review. The Dyson Hot+Cool™ heater fan is suitable for both small and larger living spaces and the time it takes to heat a room can vary from room to room. This is due to a number of factors such as the size of the room, the thickness of the walls, the number of windows, the temperature outside etc.

The AM09 model will also feature 'direct' and 'diffuse' fan modes, the 'diffuse' mode being more suitable for heating the entire room by spreading the airflow more efficiently.

Hi this is Jay with Dyson.

Our AM09 is a great heater and fan. Our Air Multiplier technology cools a person by blowing air around them smooth, crisp and non-buffeted. It is not an air conditioner nor is it intended to be. Very sorry for any confusion.

I am pleased to hear this is the best heater you've ever had and sorry to hear about the issues you experienced. The Fan + Heater is designed to last for many years with the proper care. Keep in mind that it does have a safety feature where it will automatically shut itself off after 9 hours of continuous use while in heat mode.
