The fan was less than two feet from my head with full directional speed and I could barely feel the air coming from it. I read the manual and tried different settings but overall the unit did not live up to the reviews, especially for the price. I have used other Dyson products and always have been more than happy with the quality and the job their products do, but this one misses the mark. The fan I wound up buying for $30 blew this away. Save your $$$ on this one and buy a vacuum, you will be a lot happier!

What you have described sounds as if the fan is not operating as intended as you should certainly feel air flow while standing in front of the machine. Keep in mind that there is a jet focus mode on this machine which allows you to control which direction the air flows. If set to focus on the entire room, it will blow more out towards the sides and not have a direct air flow that you can feel when standing directly in front of it.

Returning/Defective ??

After 3 hours, the temperature barely went up 10 degrees. I stood near the heater and was surprised to feel lukewarm air kicking out although thermostat was raised to 85 degrees. I repositioned the heater thinking maybe the corner was too drafty and nope same issue. This morning after 2 hours the temp in living room rosed about 5 degrees. Maybe i have a defective product? Not using it correctly? I mean you just assemble and plug it in. Returning after a few days of use.

When the heated air is projected, it is then mixed in with the air in the room. If the temperature of the room is colder than normal, it can take the heater longer to heat the entire space. Also, keep in mind that room size also impacts the time it takes to heat.
When it is colder, it is recommended to set it to a higher degree setting to heat the room quickly. You can then drop it down to a lower setting once the room is at a temperature that you are comfortable with.

Mediocre for price

After several calls and 8 months later I finally got one returned to me. But not my original. The new one's cooler stopped working within a month. Due to my last tedious experience I decided not to try and get this one fixed and not to buy another dyson item.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. Very sorry to hear there appears to be an issue with the cooling function on your upgraded AM09, this is most unusual. The AM09 features a slightly different design than the previous AM04/AM05 that was sent in for the recall. Instead of turning the machine alt the way down to 32, the AM09 features a single button to engage the cooling fan mode. While we understand you may not want to fix the current unit, this is likely an issue that can be resolved with some checkpoints over our Dyson helpline.

One night I had the heat on and the surge protector went out, I smelled a burning and it was coming from the unit. And of course warranty had just expired. I am not one to abuse my appliances it was on low heat with a 2 hour timer. And now it doesn’t work, and it was not cheap for only 2 years.

I have a very small bedroom in Los Angeles, but this fan couldn't even cool that space. Don't waste your money! Wish I could return it. Very unsatisfied customer.

Our bladeless fans push the air in the room to cool the user, unlike an AC unit which uses coolant. Based on the information provided, doesn't seem as if your AM09 is operating as designed. Posted .Hi Fred. Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on the Am09. The Am09 is great for year round use as you can use it as a fan in the summer and heater in those colder months. It is also the only fan heater with jet focus which allows for long-range powerful airflow, or diffused mode for wide projection. It is designed to heat any size room. However, the bigger the room the longer it will take to heat.
