Please keep in mind your purifying fan will alert you when it's time to change the filter. We recommend replacing the filter every 12 months if the purifier is used an average of 24 hours a day. If you use it an average 12 hours or less a day, replacement is recommended every 18 months.

When I replaced the old filter it was absolutely filthy. We have 3 cats and have use this filter to dissipate smoke and odors while cooking. It does smell a bit when its new (nothing too bad but is noticeable). Overall product met our expectations. Slightly pricey though.
