Useless for computer unless your computer has HDMI
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to get HDMI video signal captured into a computer (laptop, MacBook Pro, later also tried a Micro$oft Windows PC). The device has a USB cord that connects to the laptop, et al, but no data comes in there. Apparently it's just for power to go out? We could not get any signal until we located a laptop that had an HDMI in port. Very frustrating.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only used this device for game capture so I have no real way to compare it to the AVERmedia device. But I can't imagine another product to be better. Very easy to use and setup. You need to visit the website printed inside the box and download the app. The app not only operates the device, it also comes with a simple video editing software. I export my saved recorded segments to Sony Vegas. But it's there if you need it. Keep in mind that you need two monitors or a monitor and a tv. You wont be able to play while looking at the post-device signal because there is a 1/2 to 1 second delay between your controller input and what you see on the screen. The delay will always be there, there's nothing you can do about it but it isn't a flaw or defect. That's just the way it is. Another helpful bit of info; if you want to record ps3 or xbox (last gen) you need to order the HD instead of the HD60. The HD60 will not work. I really cannot say enough good things about the HD60 though. Very user friendly. Another great feature is that even if you forget to hit RECORD, you can still rewind and record from an earlier time up to an hour in the past. You can stream or upload directly to youtube (and others) using the elgato app to login.

Capture card to have.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best quality capturing card you can get for money. This not only let's you capture your most epic moments in games in 1080p, but now, even in 60 fps too!! The only thing is, when purchasing device, you have to go online to download the software to be able to use it, but it's free and it's not that big of a deal. Comparing it to many other capture devices, it's simplicity and quality triumphs over every competitor. I recommend it for Xbox360, XboxOne and PS4. Warning - does not work with PS3 - due to HDCP (copy protection) that PS3 has enforced through HDMI.

Great Capture Card!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really great quality for recording anything from your console. Relatively easy to setup and then after a few test clips you should have your settings set easily as well. Even though the official compatibility does not say PS3, it does still work! You will have to purchase an HDMI splitter (not an HDMI switch) to connect between the PS3 and elgato. This is due to SONY though, not elgato! The only downfall is that even though there are some improvements on sound recording, recording lobby chat and your own voice can still be complicated resulting in the need for multiple mics and headphones to record it all and have no sound feedback. Again this is a limitation of consoles more or less and not the capture card.

Pretty Decent Card, Not a huge improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though I am only rating this a 4 star product I would still recommend this to anyone looking to get a HDMI capture Device. There are a few downsides to getting this one vs the last model. On the last model they had support for some of the older gaming systems that did not have HDMI as an output. There is only a HDMI input on this vs the last. As for the flickering I mentioned earlier I'm sure that it is just a momentary issue that will be patched out soon. New products have bugs but they do go away. Another issue I have with this card is that it does not support 60fps streaming. No matter how good of internet you have the max I could get out of it was 30fps. However the software they offer is really nice and a big improvement over the last update. You now can record live commentary in a separate audio track which helps a lot when you are editing. Another new feature they added is stream command. This allows you to do an overlay with either a webcam or text. It also allows the use of scenes which let you switch to a different screen if you are setting up something during a screen or are on a break while streaming.

Works as it should
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No problems with it, perfect in 1080p 60fps, only thing that bugs me is that it won't record your friends voice in party/game chat unless you buy a separate $10 audio splitter from elgato, or if you figure out another unconventional way (doesn't work with Headset) Other than that, I've recommended this product to upcoming YouTubers, and say its a great buy if you got the cash for it.

NOT WORTH 195$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is an ok device, can upload to twitch and / or youtube with ease and can use headphones to direct commentary that my xbox cannot. However, the Xbox one already has a stream to twitch service which can easily double as a youtube video, just rip and download the live video that is saved for 14 days from your twitch account to your youtube account and all commentary and everything is there. The main reason i purchased the El Gato was to play music during my streams like i see others do and was sadly disappointed as it is almost impossible to use without a free software called OBS .This was a giant mistake and will not be purchasing again it would be worth 80-90$ but definitely not 190 will be returning .

Gets the job done better than my old HDPVR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this through the American Express rewards store for $150 since there was a 20% bonus points sale in the month of September. The order was fulfilled by bestbuy. The regular HD wasn't available for the discount since apparently the website said they were out of stock. Anyway, I bought this hoping it would record much nicer quality than my hd pvr that was 720p 60 fps. The quality on this is so much better. My computer is self built, Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing, Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H ATX LGA1150, G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD, Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM, EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Superclocked ACX, Corsair 750W ATX12V / EPS12V, multiple LED fans, etc. The program when running uses just about all of my ram. It also records temporary files in the background, so I am going to add a 1TB blue caviar just for recordings. I set it to best quality, and some of my videos exceed 30 gb The recordings work just fine, but I can see why they say i5 or better for this. The thing eats up even my computer that is over clocked. Pros: works well with pcmasterrace pc's. records in 1080p 60fps software took make 10 seconds to install and use took about 10 seconds to hookup the device does everything I need, and the flashback recording is helpful Cons: needs a lot of RAM, and a Great CPU Needs a lot of Harddrive memory Software could use some work I wish I could get an avi or m2ts type file instead of an mp4. I miss that about the HDPVR I would recommend this to a friend only if they have a great computer
