I bought one two years ago, and had trouble with firmware updates suggested by the Ember app. I tried getting help from the technical support folks, but never could get the firmware to successfully update. Fast forward two years, and after having a coworker walk off with my mug, I went out and purchased a new Ember mug. I figured after two years they would have fixed the firmware update issues. I was wrong. Same issue, app suggestions to update firmware fail. This time, the Ember support folks tell me my Samsung S22 Android phone's operating system is not compatible with the device. Pull out your Android phone with four year old operating system if you want to upgrade to the new firmware. Mug seems to work, but at $150 and waiting two years, you would have thought they would have fixed this by now...

The latest version of the app would fail to install the firmware.

Having three dimensional pins on the charging coaster come in contact with a mug that is fairly heavy, is a design flaw. I bought two of these mugs, and ran into the same problem with one of the pins being pushed back into the coaster, which prevents the mug from being charged. Returned the item.

It was intended as a gift for me to keep my beverages warm as I prefer to slowly dip on my tea or coffee - however, the battery life was unfortunately terrible and the unit does not charge while in use and required an app that consistently refused to pair to my phone every single time. We ended up going with NextMug that has a larger capacity, on unit controls and will remain hot as long as it's docked and contains liquid
