I've had issues with it keeping beverages at set temp where it falls below 130 degrees when it's set to keep temp at 145 degrees. That's when I start with a beverage at 165 and with the mug fully charged and rest the mug on its charging base. Tech support is bad - it took 5 days to get a response on my problem and they only provided me a FAQ response which wasn't any help. The app is horrible as the bluetooth on the mug constantly stops working and has to be re-paired to work. When the mug has been sitting on the charging base overnight, there is a ring on condensation that forms which can't be good for the pins that charge the mug. Likely the cause of the problems people report with the pins not working properly after awhile. An expensive novelty toy that works intermittently that probably won't last a year.

I got this for my husband and he really likes it. It keeps the temperature perfectly, and if he gets busy doing something, the coffee stays hot. He is very pleased.

So far I’m not impressed with the quality of the mugs or customer service. My first mug the finish on the outside of the mug started to bubble. Customer service took a long time to respond between emails. My second mug started damaging the charging coaster and again trying to deal with customer service they take a long time to get back to you and don’t seem to pay attention to what the problem is . I explained that my mug was causing damage to the charging coaster and there response was to replace the coaster . I had to explain to them again that the mug is what is causing the damage and to replace one and not the other the damage would just reoccur.Not sure I would recommend this product.

Hot coffee or tea all day long.. for serious sippers.. so nice for cold weather

Good novelty items. Unfortunately no longer works as bottom heating system failed. This happened to 2 of them. very expensive items.

I have had this mug for a couple weeks now but the quality seems solid. The mug itself, feels good in your hand, very solid and easy to clean. The battery seems to last about 1 hour on the highest setting (145 F). But now for the downsides. The App and Bluetooth connection frequently drop. I frequently find myself having to kill the app and reconnect. Which makes this mug really difficult to use. There is no indicator on the mug itself for temperature so when it disconnects from my phone and is no longer heating I have to kill the app, reconnect, and find that my coffee has dropped below the temperature. This has happened about 1 in 3 uses of the mug. Also, updating the firmware was a pain, but hopefully will only have to do that once or maybe twice. Another small issue there is an indicator light... but it is only on the right side. I like to hold my cup in my left hand so I rarely see the indicator. Overall, I would probably not recommend this product and may still return it. If I could just use this mug without an app it would be so nice.

My wife loves this mug. I would like to give it a higher rating. But alas, it’s not working out well. After a month, the coating has started to come off the interior of the mug, leaving it all but unusable. Wish we wouldn’t have spent the money, but hopefully we can at least get a warranty replacement.

Thought I would like this it seems well made but I turned it all the way up to 145 degrees and when I checked the temperature with a calibrated thermo pen it only reads 125 with the white light on that means it’s up to temperature. A very expensive fail.

First time using the Ember Smart Mug and the plastic on the front began to melt. Definitely will not use again and have returned this defective "smart" mug. Obviously cannot recommend this product.

The mug charger broke less than a month in. Paid 150 bucks for a regular mug. If one drip of water touches that dock plate where the charging prong is, it breaks. Don’t buy this product if you value your money. Might as well just buy a dang hot plate.

I never knew what I was missing on my tea experience before I got this mug. It's just amazing to be able to enjoy a drink from the first to last sip at the same optimal temperature! I got the black one since a friend told me he wished he had got the black one giving that the white one tend to stain over time. The battery doesn't last long off the coaster, but it has been working greatly for me nonetheless. I love the feel of the mug, the size, the weight and the finishing. I only had major issues with the connectivity to my previous android phone, but so far with the new phone, it has been smooth. I love this mug so much that I got one for my husband and the travel one as well! I just wish Ember would make the copper edition 14 oz!!! Even though it's a pricey mug I feel it is so worth it. If you are a coffee/tea lover just go for it, it won't regret it!

Overall it does what it says it does. Keeps your drink at the desired temp. There are a couple of problems. One the cup's bluetooth sometimes needs to re-paired with the ember app. I've had to do this a couple of time. Pairing is easy though. Second i wish that battery lasted a little longer. I dont think im getting 90 minute. Maybe 60. If you get it on sale like it is now. Get it.

So I have two Ember mugs: the original edition of the 10-ounce model, and this newer-edition, 14-ounce model. I love them both. I'll keep one at home and put the other one in my office, if I ever go back to the office. Yes, it's expensive for a mug. However, it is extremely satisfying to drink from a mug that keeps coffee / tea / hot chocolate at a consistent temperature. As I've seen it described elsewhere, it is surreal / sublime to get to the bottom of the mug and the last gulp is still hot. Your brain goes, "What?" And then it smiles. The iPhone app, which you can use to tweak the temperature, works really well. I understand that the Android app can be quite buggy, which Ember really needs to address. However, you can get by without adjusting the temperature since the default (I think it's 135 degrees) is fine. Ember's customer service is top-notch. They are aiming for the type of relationship that Apple has with its customers. Product design is a key part of their value proposition. Even the product packaging is elegant. Beyond the luxury aspect of this expensive mug, there is a practical element in that you don't have to walk to the microwave to warm your coffee. This is great in an office setting (home or away) where the microwave is not close by. Best Buy had a nice sale before Christmas. Sales are very rare for this mug, so you should buy it if you ever see it discounted. The 10-ounce model is generally enough, although the 14-ounce size obviously allows a larger serving. Either is good. Use a wooden or silicon spoon - not metal - to stir. Otherwise, you could scrape the enamel over time. The mug will still work, though. This is not the highest-priority item to spend money on. But once you have spent money on those items, you should buy this mug. It's a joy.

I can only say, if you want your coffee to remain at 135-degrees (or whatever you like) then this is a must have. The battery life lasts for quite some time. 14oz is just enough to keep you happy... until the next cup. Keep in mind you can't put this in the dishwasher. The price is a little high but it works well. It is made well and very durable. I did drop it while washing it and it withstood the drop from the countertop height to the floor. Continues to work fine.

I kept my eye on this mug for a while, and was so sick and tired of my coffee going cold at work, that I finally just went for it! I absolutely love it! Setting your preferences ( multiple can be set; for example, one temp for coffee, another temp for tea, etc) on the Ember app is super easy. After set up, just pour it up! Easy to clean, not flimsy at all, the coaster has a nice extra long power cord, it literally keeps every last drop of your drink at the desired temp! Only con is that this is not truly 14 oz. I haven't figured out the exact measurement, but using the 12 oz setting on my Keurig created a mess

As a college student who is consistently in class or working, I do not always have the time to reheat a cup of cold coffee. That's why I love the 14 ounce Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug! It is the perfect size for someone who loves coffee. It is easy to charge and pair with the Ember app to keep the coffee at my perfect temperature. It's also great that you can easily handwash it without having to worry about messing up the internal hardware, since it's waterproof enough to be washed easily! I have a collection of mugs that i dont even use anymore since i got this mug. I usually boil water and pour it in since i use instant coffee, and then just wait a little but until it comes down to my favorite temp. So far, its been great, 4 months in and I’m loving it. I will say i was concerned to see scratch marks at the base, I may have used abrasive sponge one day, but for everyone talking about the ceramic coating coming off of the base, that is covered by the manufacturer 1 yr warranty, so it’s hardly an issue. After my coffee, ill turn if off at the bottom and leave it on the counter in case any water was near the bottom charging area before i put it on the charger. Great mug, highly recommended.

Love this mug! Great size, color and it keeps my tea warm until the last drop. Pricey little gadget, but I no longer need to run to the microwave 5+ times to reheat my cup of tea.
