A Solid, Brutal War Film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Enemy at the Gates is an intense, gut-wrenching war drama that showcases part of the Russian front of World War II instead of the American fronts in the Pacific and European Theaters of War. The cast is outstanding, and the direction is, at a great many times relentless in the brutality. The production is outstanding, the music heart-wrenching (especially coming from James Horner), but the script itself is somewhat lacking when it comes to the whole romantic subplot involving the two Russian soldiers who fall in love with the same woman. Other than that quip, the movie is a truly solid war film.

One of my favorite movies...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The acting in this film is above average. The filming itself is great with realistic battle scenes and ensuing chaos that was apparent during the Battle of Stalingrad. The horrors of war are graffic in this movie, so parents should be advised. This movie has great battle scenes and the plot is very indepth you will never see a movie quite like it. is one of the movies that I love to keep watching again and again

Excellent sniper movie!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remember seeing this movie at the theater. The main character is Vasili Zaitsev and after coming home from the theater I immediately played Counter Strike and changed my name to Vasili Zaitsev lol lol ... The movie is awesome! And bluray just makes it even better with its picture quality and sound quality. If u're a fan of this movie, get the bluray version!

JUDE LAW RECREATES RUSSIAN HISTORY AS A SNIPER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE WITH ALL ITS VIOLENCE AND DRAMA. I WAS DRAWN INTO THE VIOLENCE, BUT TOOK SIDES IMMEDIATELY. WAR HAS NO RIGHT AND WRONG,BUT SOMEONE EVENTUALLY HAS TO WIN. THE STORYLINE WAS VERY REALISTIC AND DEFINITELY WAS BELIEVABLE. ALL THE ACTORS GAVE IT THEIR BEST PERFORMANCES.

What a story !
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this story. I have this in SD and watched several times. The story is great, the scenes gritty and realistic to me. In BD it is even better. The video quality is great and love the audio as well. The characters are great. What a great movie for anyone's collection.

Great Movie!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed this movie. The rivalry between Jude Law and Ed Harris is excellent. Jude Law is a Russian sniper and Ed Harris is a German sniper. They face off against each other during the German invasion of Stalingrad. Joseph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz round out the cast and give excellent performances as well.

Mother Russia!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve always been fascinating by war movies especially WW2 movies. But, I always enjoy a great movie that isn’t American based. This movie has British actors playing Russians and Germans in a great sniping battle of the century.

An important movie.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie takes place during World War II. It gives a good history lesson to people that do not realize how it affected other countries as well. Now this movie is excessively violent and it's not for the faint of heart. But saying all this, it's still a must see. Recommended.

A different kind of WW2 epic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon seeing this film for the first time it reminded me of so many gritty realistic war films that came out at the time such as Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, and We Were Soldiers. It's not quite as good as those however it does give us a more focused story between two dueling snipers that helps separate this movie from other films cut from the same genre.

Very Good Film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoy this film a great deal. It's intense, well-acted, and the art direction/costumes/general design feel accurate and real. My only complaint is the love story jammed into it. It's really the only uneven aspect. The love story is minor and could easily be removed without leaving any plot holes—it doesn't drive the film. In fact, it distracts a bit from the already-engaging story.

Awesome War Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this movie based on the weapon (Mosan Nagant) used by Jude Law's character which turned out to be based on a true story. The movie far surpassed my expectations but then again Jude Law is the main character so it is to be expected.

Believable War Movie Patriotism from different POV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is in the vein of saving private ryan. It is a hard movie to watch and the characters are believable. The horror of war is sad and the characters are time are powerless to change outcomes. Overall the movie is well made and believable.

Great Movie & now on Blu-Ray
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a great movie set during WWII, mostly about snipers taking out other snipers while the Russians are defending a city while the Germans are trying to take it over. Based on real life Russian and German snipers.

Urban warfare 75 years ago
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modern west has never had a major city under seige, Russia had 3. And Stalingrad was the worse. As bad as things in this movie looked the reality was worse, much worse. Losely based on actual events.
