So I went back into the store and they had batteries which I bought and remote worked fine again.

Standard batteries!

We used them for the wife's glucometer when she had gestational diabetes. She's had the kid now so no longer uses that piece of equipment so I'm unable to say what the length of battery life is!

When the display on my dashboard gave me a warning I decided to replace the battery in both of my remotes at the same time. Also have a spare 2 pack in my glove box.

Well the key is that Best Buy had them IN STOCK and a large selection, too! My car remote was low and I couldn't unlock my doors and eventually not start the car since it is push button start.
