You always need batteries for all kinds of electronic.

Purchased "Energizer - MAX Batteries 9V (2-Pack)" for use in a home smoke alarm detector. The two batteries should have lasted at least a year. The first battery lasted 30 days, and the second battery lasted 28 days.

Brand new battery did not have enough juice to plug into my amp without distortion Had to buy different batteries
