However, there are 9V's made by Energizer for that specific purpose. Stores charge lasts close to advertised duration.

We use them for all our smoke and CO detectors/alarms. The five year batteries eliminate the yearly changing of the batteries as well.

Batteries from BESTBUY

I don't know why they last when I purchase from BestBuy but I'm not going to try to figure it out. I will just keep purchasing from BestBuy.

They work, exactly as one would expect a new battery would. So, if you need 9 volt batteries for something that requires 9 volt batteries, these 9 volt batteries will work.
