Bulging battery after a year with little use

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of this type battery 1 year and 4 month ago so my son and daughter could have a reliable charger for their mobile devices during travel. One charger was used only twice and has already started bulging. My son now needs a charger for a trip so I had to give him one of my cheaper ones that I purchased at least two years ago. I guess I should have read all of the other 1 star reviews since I've wasted money on a more expensive backup charger that is now useless for one but still had to give up my cheaper charger which got more use out of it than this more expensive charger which is no longer of any use. I thought this would be a better investment based on the brand but I will never purchase another one from Energizer. Might as well spend less on the cheaper battery packs that seem to last longer than 1 year and 4 months. I didn't even expect the cheaper charger to last as long as it did and it has out lasted this more expensive charger. Like another reviewer stated, maybe Energizer should stick to regular batteries.
