It's a battery. It charges then uncharges. Somewhat heavy. but that's the price of a compact but powerful unit.

This is my first portable battery charger, so I cannot compare it with others. I can say that at this point in my ownership, it is retaining its charge well with the passage of time, and that it does a good job of charging my various devices (both slow and fast charging.) For output comparison, it has charged my large cell phone (4000mAh) from 20% to full about 4.5 times over the course of 1 month before it ran out of juice. (I bought during BB's half price sale, so my "value" assessment is probably too favorable. :-) )

Not pretty but gets the job done efficiently. Could use a case. Otherwise, great value for the deal I got it for.

Major storm approaching with the possibility of power outages. Wanted to make sure I could keep my iphone charged during a prolonged outage.

I use two phones for work and sometimes they can be running with the screen on for 12 or more hours a day. As a home inspector, I'm moving all over the place, so I can't just plug my phone into an outlet all day. This portable charger allows me the flexibility to move around while getting the power that I need. The other thing that I like is the turbo charge feature for when I need something charged as fast as possible. This also has a trickle charge USB port for when I just need a steady stream of power.
