Not 1080p but still nice.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a nice projector for the price. First it's not really 1080p, Epson's documentation says its 1280 x 800 which is actually less than 1080p contrary to what Best Buy's specifications say. That being said, it still has a great picture on my 84" screen. A 1080p Epson will cost more. Just because a projector says it's 1080p doesn't necessarily make it better. I have a slightly cheaper 1080p projector from a different brand and this Epson still has a better picture. I wish it was 4k but a quality 4k projector would cost two or three times the price of this one. This one fits my budget much better and looks good enough for me at least until the 4k ones get a little more affordable. Epson obviously has better ones for sale but at higher prices. Plenty bright, I use eco mode as the brighter mode seems almost too bright. Eco mode uses a quieter fan setting which you can barely hear and also extends the life of the lamp. If your room is really bright you may want to use the brighter mode. My room isn't that dark but it may be darker than yours. The colors seem pretty bright too with several modes as well as custom adjustments you can play with. I like to watch bluray movies but so many newer movies are so wide nowadays that a lot of the top and bottom of your screen is left blank wasting much of your screen size. This projector has several screen modes and two in particular help to make better use of the screen by using more of that space. One mode simply makes the image a bit taller without really seeming to alter the image and the other completely fills the height of the screen by cutting some of the sides of the image. I prefer the first method since it doesn't actually cut out any of the image but still makes it look much bigger. I do have a nice LG 4k tv but it's only 55" and it's great for tv and gaming but for movies I prefer a much bigger screen. My space and stand won't allow for a much bigger tv but I added a cheap 84" pull down screen which hangs from my ceiling just a few inches in front of my tv to watch movies on. That's really about the biggest screen I could fit without obstructions blocking it. It works out pretty well. If you have a large blank wall it will likely work well especially a white wall. Mine has windows and my tv so I had to get a screen. This projector doesn't seem that portable and no lens cover or carrying case included but I suppose you could carry it around if you're careful. Only one hdmi port so if you plan to use several hdmi sources you'll have to swap them in. Also the built in speaker is kind of weak for movies and no audio out jack but I usually connect the source (bluray player) directly to my surround system anyway for better results. If money is no object then get a 4k projector. But if you're on a budget or just a tightwad (I'm a little of both) this is a quality alternative to get you into projectors at a reasonable price.

What a really cool weird world
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've put probably close to 50 hours onto this projector. We have been playing movies on it, games, and more! This projector has limitations, but has been solid. This projector is fairly portable, has great stabilization mechanisms that allow you to set it almost anywhere. The images are sufficiently bright, but can be moderately drown out by excessive sunlight. The projector is quiet and is suitable for environments that need that. Additionally, this projector has great image quality (albeit not 4k). It is able to track motion well but not great (think sports and action films). The biggest fault of this device is the onboard audio is absolutely pitiful. I don't have any instruments to effectively measure decibels on the device, but it is safe to say that a noisy environment (even moderately) can limit the ability for people to hear the projector. I suggest pairing this with some sort of external speaker setup. Overall this projector is awesome and I can easily recommend it for most people in most uses.

Standard features in a compact model
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Epson as a brand has always been good at producing good quality projectors and this is no different. This projector has the standard HDMI and USB ports as you would see on a regular business projector, but this one is smaller and easily portable to move where you want it. Even though the physical design is projector is smaller than the standard, the screen quality is still exceptional. The projection can spread across a wall 25 feet high and still have good clarity in the resolution. It has a built in speaker and it is not Bluetooth compatible. Although I suppose you could use the USB port for a Bluetooth adapter. The HDMI port is used for hardwired connection to laptops, blu-ray players or anything else that can be imputed to a screen. Set-up is as simple as it gets, just plug it in and it's ready. It doesn't appear to have the capability to be mounted to the ceiling. The package didn't come with much, just the essentials to turn the device on. Also the manual didn't specify the different orientation option that the projector has. I recommend this product to a business forward person that doesn't need a note of flash and flare to get attention or recognition for a being a good worker.

Very bright, rich color, and nice features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 is a bright 1280x800 projector with excellent color and a few nice features. Design The EpicVision Flex CO-W01 has a pretty typical projector design. There is a focus dial you can adjust from the top near the lens. It has an HDMI port, a 5V, 2A, USB type A port for powering some small remote display HDMI dongles, and a USB type B. It comes with a remote and the two batteries that are required. Features While it isn't a Smart TV, it has a USB port that can power some HDMI connected devices for casting. More about that later. There is also a USB type B port that can be used with a standard USB device cable to connect to a PC. When you plug it in, there is an install program available on a built-in flash drive. After you install that, the projector will mirror your display over the USB cable! So if you don't have the right kind of connector on your laptop that could help you in a pinch. That's something I haven't seen on a projector before and a great option to have handy so you're not looking for cables or adapters as much. The USB passes the audio as well as the display. It's not a high speed connection and does not seem to work very well for video, video will skip frames, but for showing a slide show or flipping through PowerPoint screens it will do the job well. There is also a "Freeze" button on the remote. I wish every projector had this! It holds the current image so you can do something else on your computer and then "un-freeze" when you're ready for the audience to see what's on your screen again. Focus and keystone are manual so you need to adjust them with the focus adjustment on the projector and the keystone adjustments using the remote. Image Quality This is not a native 1080p projector but it handles 1080p input well. The native resolution is 1280x800. Movies look great on it! It's very bright and the colors are excellent! It's so bright I have used it mostly on the "Eco" mode that's a little dimmer. It's still very bright and this has the advantage of the fan running more quietly. One thing I noticed with this is how much the projected image looked the same as what was on my computer screen. The colors were nearly identical - often they look very good but different than on my computer screen. Smaller text at 1080p doesn't look great since the native resolution is not 1080p but it's usually readable. You really don't notice that on shows/movies though and the brightness and excellent colors make it great for video! Sound and fan noise The CO-W01 has what seems to be a conventional built-in speaker. The sound is nothing special but it works. The volume can be controlled with the included remote. Also, as far as sound goes, this projector has pretty low fan noise. At least on the "Eco" mode that I mentioned above, the fan is very quiet. If you set it to "High" the fan noise is noticeably louder and could be more bothersome when watching a movie. I've found the "Eco" mode to be good even in a well lit room. Remote The remote works very well. I didn't have any issues with it responding to key presses. It didn't seem like I had to point at the projector too directly. There is a "Freeze" button, mentioned above, a menu button, a home button (which is similar to the menu button), a back button, a mute button, a mute/blank screen button, volume control, zoom controls, keystone, brightness toggle (Eco or High brightness), and a button for color mode (like Vivid, Cinema, and sRGB for example). The remote also works with HDMI CEC controls so you can use the projector remote for basic navigation of HDMI devices that are connected and support HDMI CEC control. Streaming Devices I tried three different streaming devices from three different manufacturers. The USB port powered two of the three with no problem. The third that didn't work, came with an AC adapter and if you try it on a USB port like this or a TV, it actually gives a picture on screen showing that you need to plug it in to the wall - so I didn't expect that one to work. I'm glad they gave it a USB port that can work for some or most streaming sticks. Summary I think this projector is a great value given the bright 3000 lumens and excellent color reproduction. I love the option of doing audio and display over USB too!

Great picture, Great price!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this projector intending to use it at the lake in The Summer. I have used an inflatable screen out there in the past but have found that a larger picture is also acceptable when aimed at the off-white lake house wall. I set the projector up at home to check it out since lake season seems distant. The projector was simple to set up. The only things required to set it up were connecting the power and running a HDMI cable to my TIVO. I have a 140" pull down screen at home. I was immediately surprised at the color saturation and contrast coming from this projector. I have a DLP projector, several years old, rated at a few less lumens, same native resolution, costing almost 4 times as much as this projector and this projectors picture quality is far superior. The projector has a built-in speaker which is loud enough for most purposes. I ended up running a cable from the TIVO to the surround system so that I could get the full cinematic experience. At first, I thought that the projector having no audio outlet was a negative but actually it makes more sense having the sound coming from the source than from the projector. The projector also has USB A and B connectivity allowing connections to cameras, game consoles, computers and flash drives. The projector has a simple and easy to use menu structure. The remote control has functions that many projectors send you deep into convoluted menu trees to control. The only reason I had to go into the menu page was out of curiosity, I was able to control everything I needed through the buttons on the remote control. Two remote control functions I haven't seen before are the freeze and zoom functions. I was a bit surprised at the size of this portable projector. My only experience with portable projectors has been with battery powered, DLP pico projectors. This is much more similar to a standard video projector. It is only slightly smaller than my standard projector and there is no battery, but it performs as well as a standard projector. This projector is rated as projecting up to a 300-inch image. My screen is 140 inches. Occasionally we project a movie on the vaulted den ceiling for the grandchildren to watch (and hopefully doze off). I tried this just to get closer to the 300-inch image and the picture was great. I have no way to measure this, but I am sure that it exceeds the 300-inch size. After playing with this for a few days, I have decided that this projector will be my home projector and the other one will go to the lake.

Ready for business
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a solid projector -- it's high quality and seems pretty durable, but I haven't drop tested it yet. It has a simple design so it would fit nicely in a case. It fits very well in the cargo pocket of my laptop backpack. It uses a standard PC cord so you don't have to worry about a power adapter. It has threaded inserts on the bottom so you can screw it to a standard ceiling mount, and it's easy to rotate and/or flip the image using the remote for a variety of projection setups. The picture is impressive. I can project onto a white office wall during the day with the lights on and the video is very visible. It makes a great additional monitor, and I can use it for Teams calls. For streaming -- there's a usb connector right near the HDMI port, so it's easy to power your chromecast or display adapter, but that's where you start running into its limitations. The video is great, and it's easy to use, but there's no audio out. I think you can get audio out of the HDMI port, but there's only one. It's not a problem if you're using it as a secondary computer monitor, or if you're using HDMI out from a component sound system, but if you're using a streaming stick or plugging your dvd player right into it, you are stuck with its internal speaker. It's not a bad speaker, but for sure I wouldn't use it like a portable movie theater.

Nice portable projector
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 Portable projector works well and has a nice picture. Every size from about 50 inches all the way up to about a 12 foot screen stays relatively clear. At the larger size it wasn't quite the sharpest, and it's certainly no 4k, but still very good. Most people are going to use this indoors at projector screen sizes and for that it's well above average in picture quality for projectors. It worked well in both dark rooms and lit up rooms. With sunshine coming in the window I found it needed to be on max brightness to get a good picture. A benefit if you're projecting onto a wall and not using it with a screen, it takes up less space than a big screen tv. It does project well on different colored smooth surfaces, though the lighter ones (white, off white, yellow, etc) produce a better picture. Textured surfaces tend to show a bit in the picture quality. Hook up a streaming device and you're on your way. Just be sure the streaming device has an audio or bluetooth output to an external speaker. The one issue for me and the reason it got 3 stars is the built in speaker is atrocious. Really bad. Think cheap 1980's headphone speaker that you try to listen to from 10 feet away bad. Yes it makes noise, but it's not good noise.

Portable versatility
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a versatile portable projector that can go from 25 inch screen size to over 300 inches then look no further than the Epson CO-W01. The portability trade off in the spec department is the resolution which only offers WXGA (1280x800) brightness is fantastic at 3,000 Lumens and the Epson CO-W01 has 3-chip 3LCD tech that accurately displays 100% of the RGB color signal. Manual Keystone correction is possible with both horizontal and vertical image adjustments. The Epson CO-W01 also has a built in speaker for business PowerPoint presentations or watching movies without the need for additional sound amplification. With the HDMI connector in the rear you can have your laptop, Apple TV, Firestick or other video source playing in full living color in no time. I have used the Epson CO-W01 for a couple of weeks now and have taken it with me on the road to project a PowerPoint presentation in a meeting in a bright meeting room and have also used it to stream Netflix from my Apple TV. The picture looks great (for the resolution its capable of) even in bright settings. The speaker is ok but at only 5W is a bit lacking in the volume and sound quality department it certainly works in a pinch but an external speaker / amplifier of some sort is a cut for any quality sound or louder volume levels needed. Overall the entry level Epson CO-W01 is a great all around, portable projector.

Projecting into the future!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't expecting much from the Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector because of my previous experience with projectors in general. They are usually hard to setup, hard to tinker with and hard to get the picture "just right". The Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector on the other hand was very easy to connect to my laptop (HDMI) and I already have a Bluetooth connected HiFi system for sound so I wasn't bothered too much by the onboard (one speaker) sound. Lets be honest, for "home entertainment" one speaker isn't going to cut it, and that is why I knocked one star off the Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector. For business use such as presentations I could see the one speaker being practical. It IS loud enough to fill any small to moderate sized meeting space with ease. So no problems there. But it is not the sound that is the star of the show, but the picture. And boy, the Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector does not disappoint. It has built in settings which are more than adequate to get the job done. Yes you can make the image 300" - but I don't see many using such a small form factor (the projector itself is the length and width of a piece of paper and relatively light) projector being utilized in such a way. I see it being used for streaming, gaming, or in my case nerding out. After watching a few of my favorite movies on the "Big Screen" once again thanks to Epson, i have it connected to a spare laptop that runs Linux, and I have the projector in a custom cradle *cough* old magazine rack so it displays the HTOP information of my dedicated servers on my home office ceiling! See! I told you I was nerding out! The Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector is extremely versatile, has a crisp picture, and most importantly lets your inner nerd come to life! So if you are looking for a projector in this price point for business meetings, movies, gaming, or like me just projecting some info on the ceiling (!!!) then the Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01 3-Chip 3LCD, Built-in Speaker, 300-Inch Home Entertainment and Work Portable Projector is for YOU! Stop by your Local Best Buy, or order it here on the website! You won't be sorry!

Small Package, Big Picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a long delay due to water damage in a basement, I was finally able to hook up and test out this Epson EpiqVision Projector! Currently I use an Epson 3800 for everyday use and an Epson 880 at my shop and I would have to say that this EpiqVision falls somewhere in the middle. This is a compact projector but definitely has big potential. I have ceiling mounted this projector and it will be replacing a 75" plasma TV that is primarily used for console and PC gaming. During initial testing, the picture has blown me away! Both of my other projectors have dedicated screens that they display on, but I have left this one off as the screen I ordered has been backordered for some time. On a grey painted wall, the color and picture quality is superb! I would almost put it in line with my 3800 on a dedicated screen. I honestly cannot believe the picture quality given the current accommodations. Even at the current 150" screen size! When the room is completed, I will actually be shrinking the image down to around 110" for the space available, but I can not wait to entertain with this projector! If I had to pick anything negative about this projector, it would be the speaker(s). Yes they play sound. Yes they would be able to accommodate for a boring PowerPoint presentation, however if you are doing anything other than putting work colleagues to sleep, you are going to want a dedicated speaker system. Also, the USB input on the side of this projector does not supply enough power for a Chromecast or like device, which my other two projectors do. This means that you will have to plug in the Chromecast separate, which could potentially be a pain and add some wire management to your setup. Overall, the picture quality of this projector should get 6 stars. Even in moderate light, I am blown away. If you are looking for an entry level price point with big satisfaction, this Epson EpiqVision projector should be near the top of your list.

Good projector however Home Theater it's not
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start with the biggest draw back (I really wish you could give 1/2 stars as this would be 3.5 vs 4) This is not a home entertainment capable system even though it's in the title. The resolution on the systems leaves a lot to be desired on video reproduction, if home theater is what you want I would go with the higher resolution Espon projectors - overall I do think they make really nice systems that are pretty durable - I have two or 3 that I have used in multiple applications with great success so I would recommend the brand quality. After trying some home theater applications I quickly settled on the office for this projection and it has outperformed my expectations, the brightness is better than a number of more expense models that we already have. It's has a USB-A and HDMI port so you can also always find a input that will work, it does have a USB-B port, not sure why but it's there if you need it. I would really like to have seen a USB-C port as a number of new laptop are going that way. Setup and use - setup is easy - it's plug and play and that worked flawlessly every time - always found the source on the first scroll thru, all the adjustment can be made thru the remote that being said unless I was in a bright room the default setup worked well. Remote is still a bit clunky but just like all the other Epson remote I have used. As for projection size I did get to about 125 in and it was clear for presentation - it claims up to 300 and sure it probably will from a brightness standpoint however much above 175ish I would be concerned about the resolution Bottomline impression is this is a really good office/presentation projector, the home entertainment in the title and the fact that while it is rugged enough to be portable by todays portability standard it quite large are the largest reason that I deducted stars. Overall if you need something to move back and forth in the office it would be great

Really good 1080 picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The projector is a simple plug and play, you literally have no settings that need to be fixed everything just works straight out the box. The picture quality is really really good you get a great amount of detail even in a really bright room, the only area i can see it having an issue is if there is a light right above where the screen would be otherwise no worries about the brightness. For someone that doesn’t want to mess with any settings and just wants to plug in a streaming devices or computer for work this thing is perfect. I also really enjoyed the feeling/size of the remote, its a nice size so as not to cause carpal tunnel from using it and doesn’t feel too light when holding it. The buttons have a nice tactile feel and a really satisfying click when pressed. The speakers on the projector are nice but you will need to add speakers to get the right amount of sound. I also plugged in 2 different streaming devices and was able to control them from the projectors remote without having to set them up, going back to first comment its literally just plug and play.

Compact, multi-use projector
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little projector packs a lot of features into a small package. It is just the right size for home use and still small enough to pack up and take with you. Setup is very straight forward and easy. Just plug into a power source, connect your computer or streaming device to the HD port and you are ready to go. All of the ports are located on the side which is a little odd and wish I they were hidden away in the back. However, this makes it easy to get everything connected. Focusing is easy the image is bright and crisp. It does not have adjustable feet so you may have to use a book or something for vertical adjustments. The 1080P works as good as expected. It is great for business presentations and watching videos. I would suggest getting a 4K projector if you plan to game, but this can be used fairly well with that also if you wish. It does not get as hot when operated as I many projectors I have used get after being on for a while. It has an automatic shutoff feature if has not been operated in a while. For being a good all around device, it fits the bill well.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is what I would call a starter model projector, at least if you intend to use it for home entertainment. The video quality isn’t bad if you keep the picture small, 40” to maybe 50”. Anything bigger than that where you’re trying to watch a movie or other entertainment, I think you may be disappointed as the video quality simply doesn’t compare to most large screen HD TVs these days. However, considering the cost of cinema level projectors, this isn’t a bad way to start, especially since it is smaller and easier to setup and use more consistently. I also found it to be pretty phenomenal for office presentations. It showed all of my content in PowerPoint presentations and demonstrations on webpages clearly for an audience of about 20. It’s also ideal for presentations since it’s plug and go. Connect everything and you can be presenting in very short order. I’ve always been a fan of Epson projectors and this one is no different. I took the one star off simply because you can’t go too big with the projection, but that’s also not all together unexpected when considering the price point. Overall, easy setup, quality picture (as long as you don’t go too big with the projection), and great for office presentations.
