It's one of the best things you can buy in a small package. First of all, the video is bright and SHARP. I projected it on a regular projector screen at my backyard. It was sundown and the string lights are lit. My buddies thought it was a TV when they first came in. Until the football game score was final, all I heard was how crisp and clear the video was. For a projector, that was all that mattered to me. However, this projector is not all that. The audio is also as clear as the video. Indoors, I did not feel the need for a soundbar. It was more than ample sound in a regular living room space. At the backyard though, is a different story. You won't expect boom on this device, however, I pulled the volume WAY UP and the audio is SO CLEAR. There were no cracking, static or breaking in the sound. To be honest, I have not heard anything like that, straight from a projector. The device itself is so packed with good things: The ease of android interface so casting video to it is a breeze, the automatic focusing so you can project it however you like and it will automatically adjust itself, the design and look of the projector is classy so you can put it on any table, and the size makes it easy to carry everywhere-- this projector is unbelievable. A couple of my friends who recently experienced it are already going to buy one. I did not have to recommend it. This projector speaks for itself!

I am highly impressed with this little projector! Upon opening the box I was happy to find only a few items - the protector itself, the power cord, the remote with batteries and the user manual. The projector is a great size and is easily portable. The initial setup was beyond simple, and we had it up and running watching HBO Max within 5 minutes, and that included downloading the app. The sound quality is probably the most impressive thing though, because for such a little box the sound is amazingly clear and could be heard from the other room. We tested this on several different walls in our house with different paint colors and that didn’t make too much of a difference on the picture quality. We also tested it outside with just a plain white sheet and the only thing that affected the picture was the direct sunlight - easily remedied by lowering the sunscreen on the side of our gazebo. I wanted this projector for watching shows and movies outside in the warmer months and I’m so happy to know that it did not disappoint. Overall I am so pleasantly surprised with the high picture and sound quality and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, portable projector.

I just blown away by this Epson mini streaming laser projector! The projector itself is very small which definitely makes it portable. All you need is an electrical outlet and wifi and you are all set. I have a media room with a screen, but I have also tried projecting it on a wall. Either way you will not be disappointed by the quality of the picture it produces. Once you have it plugged in, you will use the remote to start the setup, which is very easy to do. This little guy not only produces a quality picture it also gives you a very large projection which of course can be adjusted. I have audio hooked up to the projector, but if you were to take it outside for example, it does come with decent audio on its own. Once everything is setup you can either stream or hook it up to a device, either way it is all very easy to do. I am very impressed by the ease of the setup, the portability and most of all by the picture quality you get from this little guy. If you are in the market for a great value projector, you need to put this on your list to consider.

    A portable, personal movie theater

The Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 Laser Projector is an amazing piece of technology. It creates a projection that rivals some movie theaters while only being roughly the size of a GameCube and weighing in at under 5 pounds. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the also produces its own sounds making it a personal, portable cinema. Setup was the easiest thing I have ever experienced thanks to the integrated Google features. I simply plugged the projector in, powered it on, and said “Ok Google, set up my projector” to my phone. Google’s software handled connecting the Mini EF12 to my network and importing all the other necessary configuration data. I was up and running within a couple minutes. You can control the unit using the included remote or your phone, whichever one suits the situation better. It is remarkably user-friendly. The Google integration also means you have access to a wide assortment of apps to enjoy including YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, and HBOMax, just to name a few. As far as picture quality, I was completely blown away. It is capable of displaying 4K content at 60 fps with HDR10 support. The projected image looks great even when pointed at just a painted white wall. I actually had to purchase a dedicated screen to get the most out of this but not due to any issue with the EF12’s performance. I merely didn’t have a light-colored wall large enough to support the projection sizes this is capable of. You have to be unreasonably close to the projection (4 inches or closer) before the pixels become visible, even at the maximum display size of 150 inches. Its ability to maintain that level of resolution at those sizes astounds me. My television rarely gets used anymore because this has my go-to whenever I decide to watch something. I found that I got the best picture using the default settings. Also, the unit notices when it gets moved and auto focuses itself without having to be instructed to do so. Speaking of, the autofocus gets the picture focused perfectly nearly every time. Now allow me to discuss the built-in speaker system. Epson’s claim is that it is good enough to rival dedicated soundbars. I am reluctant to admit it but they aren’t far from the truth and I’m not entirely sure how they managed to pull it off. There is no distortion in the sound, even at maximum volume, and it gets loud enough to provide a proper theater experience. Bass is somewhat lacking but that is to be expected since there is not a dedicated subwoofer. Yamaha did a phenomenal job tuning the speakers especially considering the form factor they had to work with. While the Mini EF12’s speakers are not as loud or good sounding as a purpose-built sound system, the trade-off is well worth it for the portability this offers. Besides, you can always use the audio out jack to use your own speakers if you need more sound. Unfortunately, it is currently the middle of winter so I have not been able to see how it looks and sounds when used outdoors. I’m really curious to see how the speakers in a wide-open setting. Though the Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 is great, it does have a few flaws and quirks. Since it is a laser-based projector, I expected the image to be much brighter than it turned out to be. The picture is amazing when it’s dark but it just isn’t bright enough to watch with the lights on or in the daytime. The autofocus also struggles when light other than the projection is hitting the surface you are displaying on. Thankfully, the focus is quick and easy to adjust from the setting menu but it is disappointing to need to use it. While I am talking about it, the setting menu comes up every time the unit is booted up and I have no idea why. I didn’t see a way to disable this in any of the menus. It is by no means a dealbreaker, just slightly annoying. When left idle long enough, the EF12 switches to a screensaver where it displays some stock nature photos. For some reason, the unit seems to do a soft reboot right after the screensaver is shut off. It only takes a few seconds to do whatever it is doing but I just found it to be a weird thing to occur. I also discovered a problem when I screen-mirrored my phone to the projector. It would only display at what I’m assuming is 480p and is nowhere near HD quality. This doesn’t occur when I screen-mirror to my television so I’m not sure what the issue is. With all that being said, I am still thoroughly impressed with this projector and highly recommend it. Once I am safely able to, I plan on using it to host many movie nights in future, whenever that will be. Until then, I will continue to enjoy the best viewing experience I’ve had outside of a movie theater from the comfort of my own living room.

The Epson EpiqVision™ Mini EF12 Smart Streaming Laser Projector with HDR and Android TV is compact, bright, lightweight (less than a bag of sugar), great unrestrained audio (by Yamaha), low fan noise, negligible heat signature and small in size. Streaming is super simple due to Android TV, built in apps and one button access on the remote for some services. You can hook up multiple sources through HDMI, USB, Bluetooth and WiFi. It can throw a 30 to 150 inch image with good color temp balance and great sharpness. Power on the projector and start streaming. The 3D Acoustic Enclosure and two high-end drivers are powered by an embedded amplifier that uses Yamaha’s AudioEngine™ DSP technology.

I love technology, gadgets, movies and television! This Epson mini EF12 laser projector is by far one of my favorites to bring those all together! I have had so much fun watching Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and Youtube on my huge wall in the house and even outside on the garage door. The unit is small and lightweight - but yet has so much fun inside. It has it own speakers with everything you need to watch your shows on the go! I can't wait to use this at work, camping, and for Halloween! The picture on this unit is absolutely stunning and I would highly recommend it.

I'm glad I waited for laser projection to come into the picture as I see lamp-based projectors all day long at work and the picture on them is rather poor, not to mention those with built in speakers sound horrible. This unit deviates from that norm. Picture is exceptionally crisp and bright whether you have the lights on or not (of course it's ALWAYS better with them them low or out!) and the sound coming out of the small speakers is phenominal! Most of my testing was on the wall, and some on the ceiling while laying in bed with the projector pointing up. On the wall, even though the picture was really fantastic, every little imperfection on the wall (texture due to spackle, nails, screws, holes when nails or screws used to be) is accentuated , very much like a large fly on a TV screen and it made me nuts, to the point where I almost invested the time and money to remove the spackling from the wall and repaint, but then I found an affordable 120" projection screen to mount on the wall - YES YES YES YES YES - PERFECT! This projector really does outshine the lamp-powered projectors by a huge margin! I look forward to taking it outside on a cool crisp evening and projecting on the side of the house while sipping some spiked eggnog and snuggling with my wife under a blanket while watching Christmas movies on a 150" screen - now THIS is a home theater!

One of the first things I’d say is to take a look at the chart in the manual (you can download it from Epson site) that shows how far to place the projector from the screen in order to get the screen size you want. We put this in the same spot as our old projector, but the display size was way too big. Unlike our first Epson, this one doesn’t have the ability to shrink/grow the displayed picture. We had to shuffle the basement around a bit to find a good spot. Luckily, the projector is actually somewhat aesthetically appealing, so it doesn’t really stand out. Even passed the wife test. The Android TV interface is easy to get around, and makes streaming from (most of) your favorite services a no-brainer. It is missing Netflix and Amazon Prime Video though. Not sure what they’re thinking there, but hopefully a future update will rectify that. Screen brightness is okay. You probably won’t want to watch much in a normally lit room, but it is a projector, so you should already expect that. Darken the room significantly and the picture is VERY nice! Crisp edges, good color, and minimal (if any) lag. Great for movies & sports! It automatically adjusts the keystone, as well as focus, so placing it off to the side didn’t cause any problems. Although, it does work best if you can center it, as it reduces the non-picture whitewash. Another nice touch is that you can initiate the adjustment via the remote. One of the HDMI connections supports ARC, so you can easily connect this to a receiver/home theater to get better audio. Not that the built in speaker is inadequate by any stretch, it’s actually fairly impressive for the size of the projector. Supports wifi which, combined with the decent speaker & automatic keystone/focus adjustment, makes moving this projector from one location to another a breeze. In just a couple of minutes, you can set up a movie night in your driveway, using the garage door as a screen. It’s so easy to move & setup, I can easily see outdoor movie nights becoming a regular thing as soon as it warms up a bit. Can’t wait! If I had to nitpick on a couple of things: Carrying case - In their defense, they don’t tout this as a portable unit, but for the price… Lens cover - Would be nice to have an integrated lens cover, but not a huge deal. HDMI connections are on the side, but depending on where you put it, this may not be an issue. Overall though, I’m very happy with it, and look forward to movie nights (and probably some baseball :) …) this summer.

The Epson - EpiqVision EF 12 Smart Streaming Projector is a great all in one package. Build quality is impressive. It’s a quality looking piece that’s about a 5x7 cube that’s wrapped in a faux leather material. It has 4K HDR picture resolution. Ports include 2 HDMI 2.2 ports one of them is ARC. 1 USB PORT. It also has Bluetooth 5.0. The operating system is android TV which I find snappy and responsive. You can download plenty of streaming apps from the Google store. I did take away one star for Netflix not being a compatible app but I am sure you can connect a device that has Netflix and watch it that way but kinda defeats the whole purpose of having a steaming device that doesn’t support one of the biggest streaming services. The Epson EF12 is also powered by Yamaha speakers which actually blew me away coming from such a small package. Sounds and voices are crisp and clear while watch movies. You can also connect your own Bluetooth speakers if you like which is also another neat feature. Compared to my old projector this is a step in the right direction not having so many external wires connecting to the projector itself. It also has auto keystone correction to automatically straighten your picture. Overall this projector checks off a lot of boxes if you are looking for an alternative to the traditional television. It’s small compact, sounds great and is smart enabled and throws a great picture.

If you are considering a projector, this is the one... just buy it. The built in speaker is amazing, no fiddling with Bluetooth or extra cables. The streaming apps work great, and the built in Chromecast is the coolest feature. I went from opening the box to streaming fox sports in less than 5 minutes. The picture is bright and crisp, and I cannot wait to use it for backyard movie nights!

Although not preloaded with Netflix, overall this is a highly adaptable projector. Chromecast/Android is easy to use and Google Play apps bring a variety of options. Picture quality is good and projection size can be adjusted to fit your needs (currently projecting 20+ feet away on a blank, white wall). Built-in speakers are good for small/medium sized rooms. Overall, this projector is worth the almost 1k price tag and much cheaper than a same picture quality "75 TV.

Display is decent, has auto-focus, easy to setup. For a $1000, it’s ridiculous that it does not have Netflix, native apps sometimes don’t work, wifi doesn’t connect until switching it off/on to reset, chromecast isn’t available most of the time. All that is to say that AndroidTV in this thing sucks.

I've only had this product for a few days since I bought it during the Black Friday sale. I do believe that there's a reason for the discount so here's what I noticed. 1. Best buy is not selling the exact version that is typically selling for $1000. These units are probably returned for one reason or another. Mine wasn't in a sealed retail box line you find in those unboxing videos on YouTube, but came in a brown box. The brown box didn't even have a seal on it, which means anyone can open it. 2. There is a red dot on the projection, which to me corroborated my suspicions. Perhaps someone returned it coz it wasn't perfect. It doesn't bother me, but it's clearly there. 3. The contents of the brown box are not at all what you expect based on the unboxing videos online. It only comes with the American plug (I was hoping to get the European plug as well since I'll be traveling with my projector). It doesn't have the ceiling mount, nor did it include the power brick mount. So basically they expect you to spend more money on buying these items, which automatically means that the $200 discount is being chipped away from you. 4. I really enjoy screen mirroring from my phone. But this device does not work with mirroring. I have followed instructions and still no luck. We have a TCL Android TV, which also uses Android TV, and I'm well aware of the need to use Google Home in order to mirror. My TV is working with the Google Home, but this device is not working. It connects, but then says connection has ended. So perhaps I got a dud? Another reason why I suspect this deal was not for a new product but a returned one? 5. I hesitate to return this item since I can't guarantee that I'll receive one in proper retail packaging. My gut feeling is that at the moment all the available units are in this brown package, which does not inspire any confidence. So perhaps it's best to wait until after the holidays to purchase a truly brand new Epson EF12 that comes with all the proper packaging.

Was very excited for this, but have had a very bad experience with this projector. I knew going into this purchase that it didn't have Netflix, but the other apps run very poorly with audio delays on the Peacock and Paramount apps. Granted, this is with a 300 MPBS internet connection, so there's no problem there. It will also sometimes not work with the soundbar connected to it in which scenario I have to completely unplug and replug in the projector. The picture quality is great and the brightness is decent, but if you're buying this to replace a smart TV you will likely be disappointed.
