I was a little bit hesitant when I noticed the brightness was only rated as 1000 lumens. But it's actually brighter than many other branded projectors I have tried before. Built-in Yamaha speaker is crystal clear with balanced bass and treble. User interface is easy and smooth. Yes, it does have auto focus, quick adjustment and rapid response.

I originally wanted to buy the samsung freestyle 2 because i enjoyed how portable the first gen was but did not enjoy how frustrating it was to be ignored by samsung when it went bad. I took a flyer on this well reviewed projector while it was on sale and regret ever messing with the freestyle. The picture is stronger in a lit setting. The projector is light (not 2lbs like the freestyle but still under 5lbs) and the box shape feels sturdier than others. Mine came with this awesome carrying case. I bought this to serve as my wall screen for my physical education classes and i never have to turn the lights off in the gym to project clearly. This projector is actually better than my school's and i know it costs less. Safe & quality buy.

Horrendous 120ms input lag. Not for gaming.

I needed a screen projected up on ceiling so that I can play video games while laying down on my bed, and Epson EF12 delivers a lot of attractive features for that: short throw ratio of 1.00:1, very quiet fan noise, compact and aesthetically pleasing looks, HDMI CEC function, smart phone screen mirroring with built-in Chromecast, laser lamps that ensures long life span of the projector, and high contrast ratio with very vibrant colors. Epson got almost everything right for millennials with small apartment EXCEPT there is one major flaw; a very noticeable input lag of around 120ms. It means I won't be able to make that leap of faith because the response is too slow. It's a real shame because EF12 is one of the rare projectors that actually recommends vertical mount on the wall, too. I believe this could have been the go-to projector for several years to come, if only it didn't have that horrendous input lag. I left the same review on Amazon with a video clip showing the input lag.

We have been using an Epson Home Cinema 1040 for many years, and have been pleased. It is bright, good colors, and the fan is not too loud when paired with a good sound system. The speakers were terrible, but that is what you get with a projector. It was time to upgrade and I compared true 4K DLP, Laser, and 2XHD (sometimes advertised as 4K but isn’t quite). I was unhappy with the size and lack of features in the latter, and was very in pleased with the color profile of the best DLP 4K projectors in the $1k-$3k range. It didn’t gel that the Optima UHD30 unit I got suffered from a faulty focus issue when zoomed out, but the resolution was stellar enough to re-order. The colors were extremely muted or just plain wrong (yellowish greens). The Epson EF-12 lived up to everything I was looking for. It is the perfect size, weight, and fan noise is extremely quiet. The colors are outstanding. The 1080P on a good screen is still acceptable. I would rather have a great color profile over a bit sharper image. In my opinion that makes the bigger cinematic difference when using this for movie theatre mode. Then there is the sound. Wow, what a difference!!! We use this paired with Apple TV and two homepods for a Dolby stereo surround experience. Unfortunately some apps do not play nice with airplay. It is awesome to have the Yamaha speakers onboard to create a better listening experience when going straight with the projector. I will address the elephant in the room: Netflix. If you are looking for zero add-one and must have Netflix, you can still use built-in casting from your phone/ tablet. But then again that requires an additional device. I just do not think it is that big of a deal. You can buy many streaming devices which will be updated more frequently and plug them in. Honestly I would have been happier if Epson had not worked Android in at all, and charged $100 less. Alas no native Netflix doesn’t outweigh the amazing features this projector boasts. Last thing to mention is it is short throw and no lens shifting. Be sure you can make accommodations if you have an older projector you are replacing. This unit will sit much closer to your screen. I only wish for $400-$500 more they made a 4K-like version of this unit.

All in all I have to say I am satisfied with the functionality of this projector because of 2 primary reasons; Its portability and its functionality. This Projector is small but packs a big punch. It measures around a foot by a foot by a foot. Its capable of being mounted too and has a very tight mount screw fittings so there should be not need to worry about using a mount that relies on extender brackets. Its weight is about what you would expect for a projector of this size too, not too heavy but not flimsy or cheaply made. From a performance standpoint, I cannot state how good the sound is. When I was initially pairing the remote the tutorial sound was so peaceful and crisp that i was quite blown away at the quality coming out of the built in speakers. The initial pairing took me a couple of tries but i chalked that up to user error. Once synced I was easily able to jump right onto the android interface and start browsing videos online. The outputs are sufficient too with ARC support included. It states it can accommodate up to 4k too. I am using this for my sons play room and he loves it, it easily fires up allowing him to browse online kids videos. All in all, if you are looking for a compact all in one projector, I would recommend this due to its compact design and its performance.

This is a great little projector. The image is crisp and the auto focus and keystone is a nice touch. It's only 1000 ansi lumens so i dont recommend it for daytime and outside projection. However in a light controlled room this things is bright enough. Definitely recommend if youre viewing at night or light controlled room

What a great little box this thing is!! Setup was super easy - power and input cable! Point and watch! This is a really nice projector for on the go. I set it up in my "in construction" theater room and was watching within minutes. Just had to plug in power and my input(XBOX) and off we went The best part about this projector is its automation for it being portable. If the remote is not paired - it prompts you! upon power on - it puts up some green dots that will autofocus and level the screen - then puts you the screen adjustment option. We set up for about a 100" projection - the projector was about 7 feet back. Got a good picture(see attached) The motion was decent and color accuracy was "good enough' I did take a few min to adjust and it does seem to hold those settings Picture quality decent though - whites did wash and blacks did crush - so this isn't a PRIMARY unit for your theater IMO My kids though are loving it - easy setup for them, ARC connection back to the soundbar - and they don't care about quality but BIG!! Sound quality is good for sitting nearby but not for room-filling sound - again read PORTABLE! Removed 1 star for the following: (most of which is price based at the time of review) seems just a little on the pricey side - try to catch on sale if possible When going through my soundbar - I wasn't able to find a way to fix the lip-sync issue - this drove me bonkers on some content No carrying/storage case - for an item that seems to promote portability - give me a way to safely store/carry HDR seems to notice the signal but I didn't find the effect compared to my 65" TV(yes i am aware Projo's can't do HDR :D Overall - a fun little box that we will use quite a bit for the kid's gaming and sleepovers.

I’m giving it 4.5 stars. The colors and sound quality are AMAZING. There are only 2 reasons I took half a star… First it doesn’t have Netflix on it at all, you have to find your own work around to be able to gain access to Netflix. The second is when you do airshare the quality of the screen sharing isn’t as sharp as it should be, and maybe it’s not a system issue and more of an app issue, regardless I’m very happy with my purchase.

*12' BLANK WHITE WALL AS MY SURFACE TO PROJECT ON, WITH PROJECTOR BEING 11' AWAY FROM WALL" At first I was skeptical, as this was my 1st projector purchase, however, I have to say this purchase definitely pleased! Easy setup, great autofocus/ self-correcting function. Also adjustable if it didn't get it QUITE right. It has a small extendable leg in front to raise angle of projection. Has apps you can install from google play store. Great in daytime/ nighttime. Fits entire wall, side to side. A COUPLE OF CONS: - NO NATIVE NETFLIX COMPATIBILITY. You cannot download the app OR cast directly from the app on external device. You'd have to connect something to the HDMI. - Bluetooth connectivity to speakers is a bit rudimentary. Hard to connect to a speaker that is linked to multiple devices IF those other devices have their bluetooth on - HIGH RESTOCKING FEE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT Overall satisfied with this purchase for the price!

I'll say this up front: I wanted to love this projector and I do, but only because I bought a non-Google-TV stick to make it work. I'm going to get a lot of use out of the hardware, but I simply can't use this projector without that add-on brain. With that said, on to the detailed review: Image: Bright, clear projection at 1080p without a flaw. I absolutely LOVE the auto-focus and distortion correction. Point it at a surface and push the image correction button and it goes to work projecting a white rectangle, then a series of fuzzy dots... and then you magically have a perfectly straight, bright projection in tack-sharp focus. It's genius and I've never seen anything like it! Sound: The Yamaha sound system on top of this projector is wonderful! Small and not good for a lot of full bass, it nevertheless made for an immersive audio experience for every blockbuster movie I put through it. For something this size, it's another remarkable experience. Fan noise is well-controlled and unobtrusive. Ports: Two HDMI ports (one with ARC), USB-A (power or thumb drive), mini-USB and a headphone jack round out the list of ports. There's also the lock slot if you want to keep your projector where it is and the required power port. Everything works and you'll want to reserve an HDMI port and use that USB-A port to power the stick you're almost certainly going to want to use (see below). Controls: The buttons on the top of this projector (power, image-off, bluetooth, volume up and down) are sturdy and responsive. The remote (with one exception) is full-featured and well-made. Seriously, though... there's no mute button?! If you want to mute the device, you can pause the source, sure... or hold the volume down button until things get quiet... or ask Google to mute the projector... but no mute button. You have options, yes, but sometimes you just want to push mute. Maybe I'm just old, but you will never catch me having a conversation with my remote control. Google TV: Which brings me to the real problem: Google TV. Want to watch Netflix? No. The Netflix app isn't compatible with this (or apparently most Google-TV devices). Want to watch an HD movie on Vudu? No. There's something with the DRM that forces everything to SD. Apple TV app? That's never going to happen. If you want to watch something on Hulu or Google TV/YouTube, you're good, but that's pretty much it without relying on a separate device. Construction: As I've said, the physical construction of this projector is top-notch. The height-adjustable leg in front is sturdy and slides down easily. The entire boxy shape is sturdy, right down to the faux-leather-stamped plastic housing. I wouldn't ever chance it on purpose but I do feel like, if I did accidentally drop it one day, there's a chance it might actually survive a fall from table-height. The bottom line is this: I would recommend this projector without hesitation... as long as you had no intention of ever using the on-board Google TV to run it. Plug in a streaming device of your choice, aim it in the general direction of a screen, push the magic video adjustment button and don't look back.

This mighty little machine, is easily toted around, and both the projector and the speakers are incredibly clear, rich, and offer truly in depth, nuanced visuals and audio. Hook this baby up to an Apple TV+ 4k device and it will project in true 4k. Though it is only 1000 asi lumen, the laser projector manages a very good picture. We use it projected on a wall that is painted tan. You can't tell we don't even have a screen to project on. Plus it has bluetooth and 2 hdmi - with one hdmi arc and more. I've paired my Bose headphones to the device and was blown away. If you are on the fence. This is worth every cent. It's perfect for travel, for office presentation and movies at home.

    Great Nighttime Projector

I Received my Epson EpiqVision projector just in time for Thanksgiving. I was really looking forward to setting it up outside to watch some football while practicing social distancing. I bought a two sided screen black/grey to have a better chance of picking up some great images. I also set it up underneath a 10’ x 10’ canopy to block as much sunlight as possible, we actually had an overcast sky and not direct sunlight that day. Daytime - I first set it up inside so I could connect it to my Wi-Fi and figure out all of the settings before moving it outside. The first image of Captain America is one a blank wall in my house, image is great and sounded awesome. I made all the changes to the settings and headed outside. I was extremely optimistic about it since it was a great picture inside. I get it all set-up and turn it on…Well if it were not for the sound the machine was making, I would not know it was on. This was a big letdown, for the life of me, I could not see the startup menu on either side of the screen. So we turned it off. Nighttime – After the sun started to drop and was getting darker, we decided to give it another go, the football game had started, and we wanted to be outside to enjoy the game. We set it up and turned it on and boy what a difference darkness makes. The projector performed great at night, bright picture, and on a 100” screen you could see it from 20’ away. The Yamaha speakers sound great and we were able to enjoy the game. The Epson - EpiqVision™ Mini EF12 was easy to setup right out of the box. I really am glad that I could set it up on Wi-Fi and not have to have a bunch of wires running around. I also like the fact that it does not need a lot of distance to make a large image, I was only about 8’ away to have a 100” image. It comes with Android TV built in, which is a great feature and has most of your streaming services. The bad news is that it does not have and there is not a compatible app for Netflix or Amazon Prime two of the largest streaming services out there. To use those, you will have to have another streaming device. It does come with HDMI, so hooking up to a cable box or streaming device is easy. I do like the fact that it has a Plex app so you can stream your downloaded movies, watch your home movies or have a screen that does a slide show of your own pictures. Other than using this projector in the daylight, like most projectors, I think this is a great machine and plan to keep it hooked up at the house to watch football, or hooking it up to the gaming system, on the big screen compared to my 65” screen. At the price point, it is a great bargain for the screen size, just think most 98” TVs are well over $50,000 to own.

    Great Portably & Extremely Capable

I’m writing this from a perspective of taking this on trips as well as home or office use. For the small size, this projector is really capable in many ways. First, If you find yourself on trips to field conditions such as in the military, this is a bit easier to deal with than what I’ve had to do in the past. Typically, I’d have to bring a projector or TV adapter as well as speakers & peripherals such as an Apple TV or other streaming adapter to provide any video related entertainment. This has the Android TV with all the community’s video apps available for it as well as a higher than normal quality Yamaha speakers built in. This reduces some of the stuff I need to bring. The connection design is on the side so when adding gaming systems, I have easy access & can simply swap the system. The capability itself is also better than I expected. Looking at the photos I attached, the projection is overpowering my lights at 50% (& can still do well at 100% lighting). The contrast is still very good & with a more ideal placement, it can handle darks & lights with no difficulty. At around 7 to 8 feet, it is projecting around a 85-95” screen…I’m limited in this room by the room size. I projected this on my garage door & ran out of space again (pushing over 200”) with almost no need for lighting control. This could probably function as a theater projector for smaller theaters minus the need for an even larger sound system. If you have office meetings in different rooms, this allows you to quickly set up a projector in any room with an outlet. This also allows connecting you phone wirelessly so you can avoid the need for bringing a laptop or needing a full computer system for meeting slides. My office uses TVs in many of our rooms for projections…this helps greatly as I’m not stuck with the smaller TVs. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to have a home TV, this may be an option for you. Overall, I would recommend this to anybody looking for a large inexpensive display, with or without a need for portability…that’s just icing on the cake. This is a review for the Epson Mini EF12 Smart Streaming Laser Projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Excellent projector for the price. Works great and when available, HD content looks absolutely spectacular. I highly recommend purchasing a good portable screen as projecting the image on a wall or sheet can only get so good. I bought a nice screen off of Amazon and am super happy with the results. Keep in mind there is NO Netflix and you cannot stream your library of purchased movies in HD from the Vudu app. However other apps such as Hulu, YouTube and the Red Bull app have incredible picture quality. I took the projector on a weekend trip right after purchasing it and left the remote control in my hotel room when we checked out. It was a bit of a mission to order a new OEM control from Epson but once I figured it all out it was easily replaceable. I only share the story because it is also important to keep in mind that without the remote control the projector is pretty much useless as it has little to no control buttons on it. While Epson claims this is a portable projector and it is quite small, it comes with no storage bag or any sort of containment to transport it in. I had to come up with my own solution here. Overall great projector as long as you're ok with all of its little nuances.

I use this projector as my living room TV essentially and have never regretted it. Even during the day the projector is bright enough to where I'm still satisfied. The image is incredibly sharp and full of color and depth. My home has become the default movie location for my friends because everyone wants to see it on the big screen. My only regret is I wasted money on a surround sound system without realizing HOW good the built in speaker would be on the projector. I don't know how but it projects sound out in such a way where it doesn't sound centralized at all. I can't even tell that it's coming from my coffee table when I'm watching anything.

The positives: it is a beautiful picture and I like that it includes AndroidTV so the apps are already there (except Netflix). The built in speaker is decent and probably sufficient for indoor space. Outdoors, it is just loud enough. Negatives: outdoors it needs to be pretty dark before the picture will show, like more than just dusk. The auto-leveling feature isn’t great. I have to prop a back corner of the projector up to level the screen when I am projecting at an angle. It doesn’t really detect the limits of my screen so I need to set the parameters when I set it up. Connecting Bluetooth speakers is challenging. I have to delete and reinstall my Bluetooth speaker each time. Overall, I’m happy but you might look at something cheaper before you pounce on this. I’m glad I bought it for $300 off.

I was looking for an affordable projector that was ultra portable, Smart, with a good built-in speaker. This fit everything I was looking for! The image is super-crisp (depending on source), down-scales 4K efficiently, and the built-in speaker sound awesome! When I first turned on the unit, it wanted to upgrade from Android TV version 9, to 11. I can confirm that version 11 does have Netflix and Prime, so I am super happy. Also, streaming from my phone (whether iOS mirroring or Chrome Cast, is flawless! When watching the projector outside, I do have it pair with a soundbar and wireless sub-woofer, so it gives it that extra theater feel! I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for projector that is portable and has everything to get you watching a movie. Just plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi, and start watching!

Had it about a week or so, using it daily, mostly all day, every day and I love it! It practically sets itself up! Literally, you set it down, point toward the wall, turn it on and it focuses itself...a perfect picture instantly! The sound is also suitable for most people. My son likes his music videos blasting and we had a bit of trouble connecting to a bluetooth speaker but an aux wire fixed that with no problem! I did alot of research before choosing this one and believe I chose well! Don't let the lower than some lumens fool you, the picture is still perfectly viewable in a fairly bright room! Of course, it's better in the dark, like all projectors. So far, I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase!

AMAZING projector. I have been searching for years to find the perfect projector and this Epson is awesome. The setup was easy, and it is so compact. The quality of the images are fabulous, and the sound is on point. Will be purchasing some blue tooth speakers soon to enjoy the surround sound experience. Con: Unable, as most reviews state, to install Netflix directly but not that big of an issue with the other app installations. Connecting your cell phone to the device was something I had to research independently because the instructions (online) didn't give the full description of what needs to be done with an Android or iPhone. Overall, I definitely recommend this product to someone. The price is not bad for the overall quality and convenience. Well worth the purchase, and the package came with the projection screen.
