Epson 2150 wireless projector is awesome!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I have never owned a home projector before so I didn’t know what to expect with this Epson 2150. I am truly impressed! The picture is really sharp - amazing really! We are using it to project onto an inside wall and it works great. Of course the smaller you make the picture, the sharper the image, but even blowing it up larger yielded a very good picture. It says it can go as large as 11 feet, corner to corner. Imagine a party, maybe Super Bowl, showing outside on your garage door for example. Awesome fun! As others have mentioned, the picture shows best in a dimly lit room or possibly outside in the afternoon/evening. That only makes sense. But don’t be misled, you can also see a very clear picture in daylight. The 2500 lumens seems quite adequate. It is plug and play, so pretty easy setup. It has a USB port, in addition to HDMI and others, so however you want to hook it up you pretty much can. There is also a full function remote so you don’t have to be next to the projector. There is a built in speaker, 10w, and it is sufficient but not spectacular. You may want external speakers, such as a sound bar. Also there is an app that allows you to show what’s on your phone wirelessly. It also claims to allow the showing of 3D movies, but I haven’t been able to try that function as I don’t have a 3D source (dvd player, etc). Overall, I am so impressed and pleasantly surprised by the Epson 2150 Home Projector. Wow, was I missing out! Highly recommend!

This thing is awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first projector and I've got to say I'm impressed. I opened the box and it's pretty straight forward. There's the unit, a remote and batteries, a quick start manual in a few languages (the main manual is online in pdf form) and the power cord. I don't have any accessories for it at the moment, so I grab a small table I have. It's like 12" x 12" and the height of the couch cushion. The room I'm using it in is is about 150" wide. I set it in front of the couch, so say 115" from the wall. The wall is knockdown texture and painted Behr Swiss Coffee (almost white). The picture looks amazing and I can't see the texture unless I'm up close or there is a frame with a ton of white in it. Even then, it's not bad. I measured the picture diagonally and I got 116". Did I say it looks amazing. Let's just say I haven't been in the den for a few days. My old 46" LED is getting a vacation...maybe to the bedroom. There are a few controls, but really once you get them set and don't move the projector, you're done. I will most likely change locations with it and need to run some wires through the attic. I need power, hdmi, and possibly sound depending on how I integrate the receiver. All in all, a great way to watch tv and stream video via Plex from my PC. I can say I no longer want to buy a larger tv.

Amazing picture quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson 2150 projector is one of the greatest investments you can make for home entertainment. It's true 1080p HD projection to provide entertainment for your family and friends. The projector is equipped with a 10 watt speaker. It's good for a small room, but is far from enough for true entertainment. I would highly recommend you pick up the external sound source of your choice for full enjoyment of such an amazing projector. One thing that I really wish they would have incorporated into the projector is a digital optical connection port. The projector is equipped with two HDMI ports, one USB port, and a PC port. It also has vertical and horizontal keystone correction. One of the more important things to consider is maintenance cost. The Epson 2150 comes equipped with a 4000 hour lamp. The most important thing to know is that a replacement is only $49! This is very affordable compared to other models. Best of all, the projector has a two year warranty. It's also 3D capable, but Epson recommends buying their 3D equipment. One other great feature is that it is wifi capable, so you will be able to wirelessly project images from compatible devices via Miracast technology. I tried it on my iPhone, and the projection image was great, and it was also very responsive. I did have to download Epson's app to make this phone, but that wasn't a big problem for me. I would highly recommend this projector to anyone looking for entertainment in their home.

Excellent picture quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This projector has been excellent for watching games in our backyard. Crisp, high-quality picture which looks great in HD. bright even with some ambient light in the background from the overhead bulbs. The projection angle is adjustable, allowing a close placement without compromising dimensions. Great purchase!

Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this projector during Christmas Season. It was a great price. I also purchased fixed projector screen. The projector lens is positioned 18 feet away from the screen in the right rear of the room. The projector can be adjusted to project a straight image at many angles. The image is crystal clear. From that distance is zooms out to as large a 13 feet and in to 100”. It fills my 120 inch screen easily. The built in sound is mono but loud enough however can be connected to a stereo or speaker via a 3.5mm sound cable. I connected a Bose sound link speaker and it sounds great.

Too expensive for features that are not usable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes when I purchased this projector. Friends of mine suggested to stay with Epson - so I did. I'm very satisfied with the picture quality, brightness, and even the noise level. When you are running in energy efficient mode (which is perfectly enough in a darkened room) you can barely hear anything. While it is a great device, I think the additional cost for the additional features is not worth it. Let me tell you what I mean: 1) You cannot use a thumb drive in the USB port and watch a movie from there. 2) The WiFi connection is seems to be 2.4GHz and it is by far not enough to project a movie. In the description the company very "smartly" says that the WiFi is great for presentations. They are correct. Just forget it when you want to watch a movie. 3) I was expecting that once I connect to the internet the projector will get software/firmware updates and that the unit stays top notch. No such thing. There is no update to the software. 4) This is subjective, but I didn't find the menu system intuitive or user friendly. 5) I also wish that the speakers were stereo. Epson cut corners by installing it with a mono speaker.

Best Projector Hands Down!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our 55 inch tv went out and my husband was excited to set up a new home theater. I was skeptical at best. I went to the store after researching projector after projector. I was looking for a great projector for a great price. I was also looking for something that was 3d ready. The employees had no idea that this was able to play in 3d and they had no idea which glasses I would need. (Saginaw, MI). Luckily, I had reseached enough to know that this was the exact thing that I was looking for. Even better, when I went to purchase it, it was on sale for $699. I purchased a cheap Amazon 120 inch screen and active 3d glasses from Amazon. The picture is great even in bright light. My dog even moved out of the way when were were watching a movie and a car was coming towards us on the screen. For me, that is a home theater win!

Your Mileage may Vary...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2150 is my first long-term projector. There are times when I or we - family, have been amazed and others not so. Movies watched thus far in a three-week period - Avengers, all of them, Pirates of the Caribbean - all of them. Avatar, Titanic - don't ask, Twilight, all of them - again, please do not ask. Wonder Woman, Superman, Justice League slew of supposed scary movies, countless YouTube videos, Lucy, Tombstone, Oblivion. What we have (oh, and American Werewolf in London) all noticed is there is what we call a "shield-effect" when viewing movies where there is a lot of action - a person running, Wonder Woman doing Wonder Woman-esque type stuff. The shield covers the length of a person - not sure why. Have tried fiddling with settings to lessen this but hasn't worked thus far. Also saw it when watching several Star Wars movies. 3D works well - picked up a pair of Elikliv Active Shutter 3D Glasses through Amazon - sorry Epson, we couldn't wait. They work quite well. Black color - yeah, this seems to be more of a gray or greyish color. Have tried Miracast via iPad Pro plus Android devices - nothing to write home about and the Epson app is okay. We mainly use a Amazon (non-4k) Fire Stick and on occas Alienware R4 17 to connect via HDMI, Apple TV, Netflix and wherever else. Streaming hasn't been an issue but noticed that YouTube for whatever reason oftentimes selects 480 for videos - have to manually change which is OK. Would we buy it again? Probably not and no, that wasn't a dig on Epson. We weren't blown away by the color representation of the movie Avatar. The movie had a haze to it and washed (or wourshed) out colors. If I were to compare the 2150 to a television, it would be a 1080P tele, only with a LARGER screen - we fluctuate between 120 and 300 inch.

Best bang for your bucks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first projector and so far I don't regret it. I was contemplating a 75" 4K TV but realized that wasn't worth the cost. There just isn't enough 4k content out there at the moment to justify the extra expenditure.

just okay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.currently on 3rd in 3 weeks. The first had issue with lens shift and the second projected a green dot on screen. An issue that, according to web, cannot be fixed. Im giving the epson 2150 one more chance because I like some of the features of this projector. Miracast was the main feature I was looking for along with the ability to shift the image vertically so I dont have to worry about setting the projector straight on as Im in a considerably small space and am constantly moving around to different spaces. The portablilty makes it a good choice if NOT FOR SERIOUS HOME THEATER. The biggest cons are contrast ratio and the fact that it is LCD. Although the colors are bright, the blacks are not deep blacks. That is the one thing missing from this projector and at the moment can only be achieved through a DLP projector. If its important to get the deep blacks that an LED tv, DLP projector or plasma tv can deliver, the epson 2150 is not a great choice. Or any LCD tv or LCD projector for that matter. The fan is quite loud but Im sitting close at approx 2 ft away from projector. If I was 5 or 6 ft away I doubt I would hear it. The speaker is not adequate at all. Its like the equivilant to buying a pair of earbuds at the dollar store. However, that was not a main factor as I have numerous speakers and soundbars. I just hooked it up to small bose speaker and it sounds great. It also runs very hot. Hot enough that Its warming my hands from 2 ft away. The 2500 lumens is great in a dark room, ok with a little bit of light and is terrible in a fairly lit up room. A projector with more lumens would be needed to enjoy the picture during the day or in a well lit room. I've only played one video game on the projector and it looked amazing. However it was COD WWII which is not the best game to get a feel for refresh rate or lag so I still need to do a bit more testing. Blu ray looked good with a little tweaking of picture settings. Where you'll feel like you are watching an old LCD TV from 20 years ago is when you use miracast or smart view. The LCD really shows. overall this is a great beginner projector or if you just want a projector with very specific features. I would NOT recommend this projector to anyone who wants a more high end theater system. At $899 its way overpriced for the quailty of picture but acceptable at the sale price of $650 for the features that I need for regular daily use. PROS: - Miracast/smartview - Lens shift - Bright colors - portability CONS: - NO DEEP BLACKS!!!!! - LCD - seem to break easily (on 3rd) - speaker - contrast ratio - fan is loud
