Customers are saying

Customers value the Home Cinema 5040UB's exceptional picture quality, brightness, and ease of setup. Many appreciate the lens shift capabilities and quiet operation, finding it a great value for the price. However, some customers note the projector's larger size and limitations with HDR performance. Overall, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs the concerns about size and HDR.

    Bad Quality, Debilitating Customer Service

The picture quality of this unit is amazing, and paired with the Sonos surround I typically prefer watching movies from home on 130 inches than in the theatre. However, not sure if its worth the price of dealing with constant blown bulbs and robotic/scripted customer services reps. Initially the unit worked well up until around 1300 hours of bulb use on ECO mode (well below expected bulb life), working with customer service, they eventually sent a replacement bulb. The replacement bulb blows around 250 hours of bulb use. Working with customer service again, they have decided to send a replacement "refurbished" unit. Not excited at all about receiving a used product, however I'm left with few options. To Be Continued..

Projector Dead - Not turning ON

I am writing this review after talking with Epson about the projector not turning ON. We bought this projector from BestBuy in December 2017. I bought the projector as it had very good reviews. The projector we bought died in March 2018 and I called epson customer care and complained. Epson sent me a refurbished projector as a replacement. I was disappointed that I ended up with a refurbished projector and thought it was just bad luck that the projector failed. But now the refurbished projector that Epson sent also died with the same problem. Epson customer care again is going to send a refurbished projector as a replacement. It looks like this problem is pretty common in Epson 5040 projectors. Its appalling that epson continues to sell these bad quality projectors. Though I will continue to receive replacements until my warranty runs out, contacting the customer care, getting the replacement, installing it and sending the faulty one to epson is waste of time and effort. After the 2 year warranty is over, when the projector fails, it will just be a junk. If I happen to buy another projector I will definitely stay away from Epson.

This is my 2nd 5040 and the 2.2 hdmi port blew out AGAIN. The company sent me a refurbed unit and it also blew out my 1200 receiver hdmi port. I am SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS COMPANY, I am ready to file a lawsuit and contact the better business bureau. I cannot even enjoy a movie because their items are defective. I have HAD IT WITH EPSON!

Worked awesome for 2 years and 1 month (yes, 1 month after the warranty expired)... then the dreaded power failure that so many others are experiencing. Called Epson, and even though I am past my warranty, they are sending me a replacement (refurbished).. I mentioned to them that they refurbs are having the same issue (based on internet threads), but the gentleman assured me that they've finally figured out how to fix this problem.. I'll update this post once I get it. (Glad they're sending out another unit even though I am past my warranty!)
