The design of projector is superb. It fits perfectly on top of my media stand and it looks sleek. The installation of the projector was easy. The packaging came with a cradle around the projector that allowed me to easily place it on my media stand by myself. It includes a focus and leveling feet to get the projection dialed in. Setup was simplified thanks to Epson creating a companion phone app. The app automatically corrects the projection based on photos the user take of test images the app projects on the screen. I was very impressed with how well it worked and it was super fast. The picture this projection produces is amazing. It looks sharp; it has a very wide and beautiful range of colors; and motion overall looks smooth. The picture is huge (I have it set at 100 inches so I can’t imagine what 150 would be like!) I tested the picture of this device three ways: directly onto a wall, onto a regular projection screen, and onto an ambient light reflecting (ALR) and ceiling light reflecting (CLR) screen. In a dark setting, all looked amazing. In a light setting, while I was able to see the image during the day with all screens, the ALR/CLR screen was a considerable improvement. Gaming on this device was great. I used it with my PS5 and it worked flawlessly. There was no noticeable input lag when I played Fortnite, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Crash Bandicoot. Likewise, the max 120hz refresh rate (at 1080p) really improves gaming performance too. One thing that I found annoying was that the game input cannot use HDMI-CEC (which matters to those who want their game’s audio to run through a home theater system). The built-in sound system from Yamaha does not disappoint. Despite its small size, it has a wide range and can get to a loud volume. The remote felt like a regular TV remote. It worked as intended. It worked well both as a remote for the projector as well as a remote to control Android TV. Likewise, Android TV works well. It’s super convenient to be able to just cast whatever I want directly to the tv. Overall this an amazing ultra short throw projector. It produces a great and huge picture and is great option for gaming.

I've had this projector for one month and 3 days... It just stopped working. While in the middle of watching a show the protector just stopped projecting. The audio continued to play, but no more image displayed. Best Buys policy allows for returns on 15 days, so I can't being it back to them. I'll see how Epson handles the warranty and get back to this review after that. But as of now I'm extremely disappointed with this product.

I have had experience with epson projectors for quite a whole now, and all of the experiences have been great. I got this to utilize in place of my old standard projector and to free up space so to speak. Since this is an ultra shirt throw, I can have this right on the table below the screen where I can keep my 4k player and roku hooked up to it and now not have to worry about walking in front of the picture during movies. This thus is a fantastic way to solve that issue. My last projector was the epson 3200, an awesome 4k hdr beast that did 3d, which I am going to hold onto because is still have plenty of that format. This does not do 3d, but I find I don't use it as much as I used to, the kids got older and 3d animated movies playing less in that room. The brightness on this unit is way better, though old unit not bad, this had full ceiling light on and sun coming in windows, no issues seeing the picture. The viewing angle is as stated, about 170 degrees no issues what so ever. This has a movement detector and if anything seen near projection beam it shuts the picture off, and it's adjustable. I guess it could be an issue, but I don't plan on hovering by it while it's on. The set up went fairly smooth, pairing the remote didn't go the first 2 times I tried, 3rd time went just fine, I don't know why it didn't go right away. I checked for firmware updates next, that downloaded quickly, but it will surprise you by shutting the picture off, fans go into overdrive, then after 10 seconds blue light starts to blink. The update took 3 to 4 minutes and it finally restarted. I will talk more about app set up of google later, but continuing on viewing, I did hook up my older roku premier that has 4k and hdr (this unit does not do dolby vision) and it worked excellent. No issues. I prefer using this over Google, generally faster and it's all set up for me to run (all passwords and apps there). The 4k hdr content from Netflix, vudu, Amazon, movies anywhere, and Disney plus all came out great to name a few sources. So did the 4k player content. Now here is where I really like this unit, the Yamaha sound. This is excellent for a 2.1 system. The volume level can get generously loud and fill my large family room. Good full bass, crisp dialouge, and clear treble. Just great sound out of the box. I had to hook up an external speaker for my old unit, and having this built in freed up a bit more space. The price point in this projector is fantastic, right at what my old one is, but way better brightness, contrast, and set up (can be right near the screen). Built in sound that is excellent, icing on the cake. I give this a full 5 stars despite the android/Google streaming built in. As I mentioned above, I was coming back to the android TV part. Set up was as easy as some of my other Google tv's I have, log into my account and all connected just fine. Playstore connected fine. I downloaded all the general streaming services I have, but a glaring omission is not available here that I can find, netflix. As mentioned I have other android tv's, android phones, all have Netflix. This does not pull it up as a download option, even searching for it. Also, vudu will not let me view anything other than standard definition film quality. I have a ton of 4k content that is not part of the shared movies aywhere platform. I did watch other films from movies anywhere 4k content, and Disney plus also, no issues, good hdr. Remote response and navigation are easy enough and good. I am not going to deduct anything from this projector because of this, because as I mentioned, I had planned on using my roku anyway. For having all the latest and greatest, this surprised me and I have checked all settings and such and all apps claim updated and I can't find any reason these are not available or limited in features.. Overall, I still highly reccomend this unit, unsurpassed projection quality, sound is fantastic, it does it all that I need.

    Excellent UST Gaming Projector

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off, I specifically chose this UST projector for its low latency Gaming Mode; happy to report it did not disappoint. With the gaming specific HDMI input (there are 2 normal and 1 gaming inputs), latency was almost as low as gaming modes on an actual TV. If you are a pro-gamer (or if you only play FPS) you might still be disappointed by the ~20ms delay, however for us commoners this projector can handle fast paced games like FFXVI/SFVI & precision games like Elden Ring without any issue, and this is coming from someone used to OLED TV’s gaming mode. Playing AC6 on this was an experience smaller TVs and monitors cannot compare against. Down side, of course, is the price. Just buying this projector alone will not be enough to get the 100% experience. You will also need to splurge for a quality UST ALR screen to truly enjoy it. The image adjustment options are quite limited, but I think only the most picky of videophile will be bothered by that. Most people (target audience for this product) should be very impressed by what they see. At about 70% brightness the fan is silent, at 100% brightness the fan is audible, sort of like a quiet bathroom fan or an air purifier running on medium setting: definitely there, but easily covered up by the speaker sounds. I have it sitting about 10” (measured from lens’ glass) away from my screen for about a 100” image (it can go larger, I had to reduce the image size manually to fit my space) and had zero issues streaming videos through an Apple TV; the contents were sharp and vibrant, as long as your source material is good. If you try to watch SD or 720P stuff, they will look horrible when blown up: garbage in, garbage out. On that note, a few games on PS5 looked very soft (mostly the PS4 ones without true 4K support) because of the limitations of the older console; try a PS5 game (or a PC game) rendering at native 4K with max graphical settings and the image quality will be night and day. Definitely a gaming friendly UST projector, not that there are many of them around to begin with.

    AMAZING Device and Picture Quality

What an amazing device!! I have not used a short throw projector in the past so it was interesting to get to try this one out and I was completely impressed. First, the device looks excellent with a modern design that is not overly large and obtrusive. The device will fit on most TV stands or small tables. One huge benefit of this over projectors is that it does not need to sit far away from the wall/screen. It basically needs to be less than 12" from the wall and will not sacrifice picture quality. The picture itself is able to be projected up to 150"! This is amazing. With the 4K resolution the quality is excellent. I used it for watching sports (amazing!), gaming (incredible!), and watching movies (theater experience). The setup is very easy. Using the Epson app, you are able to size the screen appropriately. It also adjusts so there is no bleed from the screen. Excellent setup! The screen quality rivals 4K TV's and also includes HDR. The price is high. However, if you are looking for a quality and flexible video system, this is the one!

Awesome Projector, live 4K content not supported

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It‘s actually 5 stars but where it falls short is compatibility with Xfinity 4K. I’ve tried both the XG1v4-A (4K cable set top box) and Xi6-A (internet 4K box) connected to the LS800 with a 4K HDR 2.0 HDMI cable. Xfinity does not recognize the projector as a 4K display, so if your hope is 4K live sports at 100+ inches it’s unfortunately not supported at the moment. I am hopeful Epson will release a firmware update or Comcast adjusts support for 4K content to projectors. Other than falling short in this regard, I am happy with this product.
