Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the PowerLite Home Cinema 3020's impressive picture quality, enjoyable 3D viewing experience, and its ease of use. Many also find the brightness sufficient and the price reasonable for the features offered. However, some users note the projector's noticeable fan noise and relatively large size as potential drawbacks.

After buying a mount for this and mounting it to the ceiling in the basement it is amazing. I had to use the keystone to adjust it slightly because I couldn't get it mounted exactly lined up with the screen. It says in the manual it is better not to use the keystone adjustment for a better picture. I only had to move it a couple of notches but I can not tell the difference in picture quality. The 3D is outstanding, I bought Avatar 3D to see what it was like. I always thought 3D was a little gimmicky and didn't really care about it. 3D TV's just don't look that good, I think it has to do with the size. Watching a 3D movie on a 60" TV can not be compared to watching it on a 120" theater screen that I use with this projector. My only complaint about the 3D is the glasses are kind of awkward and clumsy if you have to wear prescription glasses also. Fan noise can be a little loud if you pause what you are watching and it is quiet in the room, while watching something though with the volume on it can not be heard. I also found out a new bulb for the projector is in the $200 price range so I hope this one lasts a while. I am very excited about purchasing this and find myself making excuses just so I go do something in the basement and turn it on to watch something.

Best HD 3D Home Theater Value for the Money!

Let me preface my review by saying I'm an audiophile who loves spending time in my 'man cave' watching sports, movies with my family, and gaming online with my friends. I have a dedicated theater room with a 105" DaLite screen, the Denon AVR4311CI 3D receiver, and Bowers & Wilkins speakers. I'm replacing my Epson Pro Cinema 800 720p projector, which was a great projector and was their flagship back in 2008. I installed my Home Cinema 3020 myself using the same universal ceiling mount I used for my Pro Cinema 800 with no issues. I did have to adjust the mount to the longest telescope position and had to tilt the projector slightly to fit my screen, but the picture fits with no issues. Make sure you get an adjustable mount since there is no lens shift on this projector. Ideally, the projector needs to be mounted so the lens is even with the top or bottom of your screen. Hire a professional installer if you have a mounting restriction in your room. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing! The contrast #whites# are crisp and the colors are vibrant. I was hoping for a noticeable improvement from my Pro Cinema 800 picture and I was not disappointed! I have Verizon Fios digital cable service and the HD channels are spectacular. I also have a Blueray DVD player and popped in Tron 3D and was blown away. I would challenge anyone to find me a projector in the next two higher price points #$3-5k# with a better picture. As I mentioned in the 'What's not so great' section, the only small complaint I have is the noise the iris makes when focusing. It's noticeable and distracting when transitioning to quiet scenes, but not a big deal and certainly not a deal breaker when considering other projectors. I haven't researched the issue or contacted Epson to see if there is a fix to the issue, but I'm sure there is something I can do to decrease the noise. Finally, for you gamers concerned about lag or picture quality, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 is amazing with absolutely no issues in game performance. I'm extremely pleased with the overall performance of the Home Cinema 3020 and would recommend this projector to anyone looking for a great home theater experience!

It's a good projector, with nice picture quality (blacks are comperable with dlp's), but too big for my ceiling mount. Also, remote control look like it was designed in the 80's. Better picture than the 2040 or 2045, which are very washed but it lacks many functions that the newer projectors has.

    Awesome 3d Projector

I purchased this projector back in January 2013 and really love it. The picture is beautiful and the 3d is amazing. My projector is ceiling mounted and have never had any issues, not too loud, doesn't run too loud. Projector is quite a bit bigger than my previous optoma hd20, but its too be expected. One great thing about the projector is there is a number of 3d glasses that are compatible. One thing I was worried about before I got the projector was playing video games, and truthfully I don't notice any longer than normal lag. I can play video games just perfect. Another feature I love is that I can change 3d back to 2d if my kids are getting tired of watching a move in 3d. Overall 3d with this projector just rocks. I would absolutely recommend this projector.
