This Epson WorkForce ES-50 Portable Scanner is a game changer. I easily unboxed and had this scanner set up within a few minutes. This Epson is amazing compared to my previous scanner which was a hassle. I simply went to the site (link posted below for those that need help with downloading), downloaded the drivers, registered my device, and it was ready for use. All I have to do now is plug in, than put whichever document needed scanning and within a press of a button it's done. It will auto pop up on my laptop that it is scanning. It has many options as shown in my video below with more details. The size is fantastic, it's sleek, and durable feeling. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-50 Portable Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review but ALL opinions are my own and honest. Versatile & user friendly

The whole process from start to finish was very user friendly; you just connect it to the computer & go to the website listed in the user guide to download & install the drivers & utility package. From opening the box to actually using the scanner was about 5 minutes, the longest part was installing the software but that's just a waiting game. In the box was a cleaning sheet & calibration sheet which will be so useful in the future once I put more miles on it.
I love how many options you have for what to do with a scan once it's complete, it can be saved to your computer like anything else or you can attach it to an email, print, save to places like Word, or send it to Dropbox & other locations. Navigating through the settings did take some getting used to as it would with any new device but once I took a few minutes to explore what everything did, I was scanning work documents, photos & miscellaneous notes in no time. You can change the resolution anywhere from 75 to 1200 dpi. The higher the resolution, the faster it took to load after scanning something in but surprisingly no matter what resolution, it seemed to scan equally fast. My favorite part about the scanner is not having to deal with the hassle of cropping an image after you scan it, if you scan something like a business card, it crops it automatically! I know that's been a for a while now but the quality is better than it used to be, it's more accurate. Scanners have come a longer way since they first came out, this one is very compact & sleek & is so lightweight an 8 ounce bottle of water is probably heavier. Since this was my first time setting up a scanner, I was a little nervous. The directions were extremely clear and walked me through each step. Did I mention there were only 3 simple steps to follow!!!! Installing the software was quick and I had no problems getting this scanner ready to go. I love the compact size - no more taking up room with a large printer/scanner combo that you don't need.
Insert first test page.............success!!!!! I work from home a lot of the time and having this is a game changer for me. Scanning is quick and results in a clear image. The scanner can take a variety of paper sizes, including receipts. Without any hesitation I would highly recommend this for your office and/or personal scanning needs.

The Epson Workforce ES-50 Scanner is so cool and convenient. I honesty can’t believe how small and lightweight it is. I also love that I can wirelessly scan all my important documents very quickly and efficiently. The scanner comes with a USB cord that makes it easy to charge up. Once the scanner is charged fully it’s ready to go. I downloaded the software instructed in the easy to read instructions and began scanning my documents effortlessly.
What I really like about the scanner is that you can keep feeding it multiple documents and it will keep taking them and scanning them. I’ve saved a lot of time and space with this scanner. I have an IOS device so I downloaded the Epson DocumentScan app on my phone and scanned documents from there as well. Usually it takes a minute for a scanner to scan multiple documents, but this Epson scanner is super quick, it takes the documents and scans them in a matter of seconds. Concerning the software, I was very pleased with how easy it was to download and use. Now I have several important documents scanned and saved into my computer and it was all very effortless and easily done with the Epson WorkForce ES-50 scanner. The Epson ES-50 takes me back to the days of a similar scanner I had, but gave up on, in the late 90’s. However, this one actually works, comes with a suite of software and there is no solicitation or subscriptions.
As a small business owner, I’m on the road a lot and have to depend on an variety of tools to keep things somewhat in order. Sure, there are copy machines, flatbed scanners, Phone to PDF, etc. They all have their purpose and the ES-50 takes a spot near the desk and will be in the field from with me from time to time.
First thing is Googling the scanner and finding the software on Epson’s website – straight forward and download/installation does take a few minutes. There are many adder pieces of software for MS Word/Excel, PDF, etc.
In practical use the scanner is very quick and accurate. Even when it fed a sheet in skewed it corrected it and was unnoticeable. The resolution and speed are on par for quick scanning and high-quality scans of documents and the likes. This fits my needs exactly.
The hardware device is solid and efficiently powered via the USB cable to micro 5V. The unit feels solid and well built. Coupled with the non-bloated and complete packaged software, I expect this to be around a while. On that note, I am guilty of picking something like this up and maybe putting it on a shelf. You know right away and this one is a keeper….
If you have the need, this is a great solution. …Well done product.

The epson ES-50 is a compact easy to use scanner. The scanner came with the instruction booklet which was easy to understand and user friendly. Just connect the scanner to your laptop and install the drivers and you are ready to go!
Use the epson app installed on your laptop and press the scan button to start scanning. The scanned documents are really good quality. I wish the cable was a little more longer and also wish to upgrade it to the wifi enabled scanner, the ES-60W. Overall, this is a great scanner for home and office use and easy to carry around. Wish it had a carry case.

The scanner itself is good—lightweight, easy to use. I returned it because the software to use it was ridiculously complicated. Download this only laptop. Doesn’t format as something sensible like a pdf. It was some format I didn’t tecognize. So I had to convert it, halfway the the process I had to repeat because I couldn’t find the files on my computer. Very frustrating. If you are really smart about software and file types, it might work well for you. For me, I just want something that will format to a pdf

Makes scanning multiple pages quick and easy! I have multi-page sales contracts for my personal business and needed something fast to scan and collate all of the pages into a pdf document to save. I can scan a 4 page document in less than one minute. It's lightweight, portable and uses a standard usb plug. I had to go to the Epson website to download the driver and install the product on my computer but it's very simple and instructions came with the product. The only downside is you have to do each page at a time (you can't stack and have it pull each page as it scans) but for the price and scanning quality, it's worth the manual feeding.

Not much to say, this was a required or neccessary purchase. I purchased a MacBook Air (macOS 14.3 Sonoma) several months ago and the software for my Neat portable scanner was no longer compatible. My MB Air has USB C ports so I have to use a USB C to A adapter but that's the only hardware obstacle. After installing software from the OEM website the scanning process is pretty straight forward. You can initiate your scan using the device button or your mouse within the desktop software. It auto detects color so you don't have to select color or B&W scanning.
I'm happy with my purchase but not the price (I was unsuccessful finding an open box special). As mentioned earlier this was a neccessary purchase and I wanted to find something that would last a few Mac OS upgrades.

This portable scanner is the perfect office addition! The driver is accessible via computer, no fussy disks as before. The installation was fast and took no time at all to load. The plug and play feature made it easy to use with just the cord it came with. The image was clear and the numerous options for storage wa s perfect as far as emailing it, saving it as PDF, saving to a USB flash drive, etc. It fits easily into my convertible laptop bag as well

After you get the software download from epson, it works as intended. Only thing is that you can only do 1 page at a time so not really for multi page documents.
