Unboxing this Epson scanner was pretty straight forward. You will have 6 main items in the box. (Scanner unit, Document feeder, USB cable, AC Adapter, Power cable and Start Here poster) (Picture attached) Following the instructions in the Start Here poster took about 18 - 20 minutes (Software setup, Test scanning and firmware update) I used the wireless option setup for my office. THe touchscreen menu is quick to respond and has easy to navigate menus. (See picture attached for a picture of the touchscreen) I ran quite a few test scans ranging from 7 pages up to 75 pages. The scanner does a great job in document feeding. It did not skip any pages. I used the scan to folder option for the major of my work. Please see below for a snippet of some of my scanning data: 7 page Black and White scan One sided - 200dpi The scan had combination of text, maps and site plans It took 14.50 seconds to scan these 7 pages 325KB using standard compression 70 page Combination of color and black/white pages. Two sided (duplex) - 200dpi The scan had combination of text, maps and site plans It took 59.50 seconds to scan these 70 pages 5.52MB using standard compression This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I have purchased 2 of these machines. The ES-580 and the other ES-500, keeping one at each house. Both work perfectly and do exactly as they are designed to do. I do like the touch screen on the 580. Great new feature. Software and setup very easy to use. I have basically gone paperless with all of my records. We scan everything and finding and retrieving is simple. Just give the scan a good name and you are done. All you need after this is a good shredder to protect your privacy and you will have eliminated all your paper clutter.

I have WIFI but don't have access to the router, so needed to upgrade to a scanner that had a touchscreen and this did the job. It was easy to understand how to get it setup, and the scanning process is easy. You have to set the dpi to get sharper scans since it defaults to 200 dpi and documents look a lot better at 600 dpi. Easy to change with the software.

This thing is amazing! Blazing fast, scans both sided if needed, connects via Bluetooth or WiFi, and it doesn’t jam. If you scan on a daily basis, this is a must have.

I scan a lot of documents for the office I work in. In the past i used the scanner on my printer and it took forever. I used this scanner and got everything done in no time. Easy to install and use.

Scanner was easy to set up. Worked perfect for my needs of scanning lots of double sided documents into the Google Drive.

WOW these are tiny now. This thing rocks. Simple set up to drop things into Drive, Dropbox, an email or a hard drive. Fast. Smart. Big stack of invoices? No problem. Loose leaf version of Homer's the Illiad? Piece of cake. Fast. Simple. Small. Perfect.

The wireless capability makes it convenient to find a spot for it. The duplex scanning makes it a pretty quick scanner. The scanner incredibly easy to operate, even for those who aren’t tech savvy. We've had one in the office for 6 months and our office workers like it so much I had to order a second one. It's a little pricey but so far has been worth it.

I bought this for saving my tax paperwork so that it saves room. I did an entire year of paperwork in 10 minutes. Set up was fairly easy. I then began to use it for my classroom work. Very easy to scan in originals and then bring the file into a translation program for my language learners. An entire years worth of worksheets took 30 minutes. The quality is outstanding and I love the feature that puts two pages together. I did find it frustrating when it needed an update in firmware. As I am not comfortable with all the language I had to watch a video on how to do it. It also needed three updates in two months. A bit of a pain and I am not sure why it doesn't just ask if you are ready for it to update instead of hitting 6-7 buttons to get it done. I would buy it in a heartbeat again though. This is the only minor thing about this machine that I have encountered.

I’m genuinely impressed with the Epson ES-580W. Setup was quick, and the touchscreen interface makes navigating scan options incredibly easy. Even for someone who’s picky about tech. This Epson scanner has all of the features I need - double sided scanning (what the pros call "duplex,") wireless upload to cloud destinations (I use Google drive,) and a color touch screen to adjust scan settings. I use the scanner primarily to declutter my life by scanning bills and letters as soon as I get them so I don't have paper lying around. The touch screen lets you adjust things like if the document should be scanned in black and white or in color. It's very easy to setup and use and feels sturdy in terms of build quality yet it is compact enough to fit anywhere. This scanner fits into my workflow because I can use the screen to decide where the document should go and the documents are scanned on both sides automatically. And what's even better is that, unlike other scanners, this scanner is wireless and can upload straight to the cloud without a computer. You can adjust where documents can go (called destinations) on the Epson website and it's all free. If I have a lot of documents they all fit in the 100 page input tray which is more than double what other scanners have. You are also able to quickly digitize business cards because it can scan those too without an issue and without manual cropping. I am an accountant and during tax season we scan in a lot of documents. This scan has made our lives a lot easier with the online integration. Along with one of the fastest feed rates it makes documentation scanning a breeze!

Needed a scanner that could scan voluminous documents for work assignments and court filings. My printer is great, but is limited on scanning capabilities. Bought this new scanner and it is great, quick, easy to use and easy to setup.

I just purchased this scanner and can't WAIT to use it! I've worked with a couple of Epson workforce and HP scanners in the past and found the Epson units were beasts. I work from home pretty much full time now and have the Epson Eco Tank printer/scanner combo, but I haven't been pleased with the slow scan rate I was experiencing. I decided to finally upgrade my scanning system and splurged on this unit. If you don't normally scan documents regularly or in large quantities, this may not be for you. I am an accountant and usually scan stacks of confidential documents on a regular basis, so a sub par scanner/print combo wasn't cutting the mustard. If you are looking for a reliable, fast and efficient machine to cut down on paper clutter and get through documents fast, this bad boy is what you're after!
