An alright card for what you pay for

Biggest difference between a GTX 960 vs the 970 is 2 gigs of VRAM. The 960 has 2 while the 970 has 3.5 (+500mb at a slower clock speed). It's also about a 150 dollar difference. Step back and think about what you want to be using this card for. It can run most games fine at 60fps, but at lower settings. As far as benchmarks go, the 970 is a much better performing card than the 960. It's a factor of either getting something NOW, or getting something that gives +30-40fps and better performance all around for the extra cost. Anyway, from personal experience, it can run every game I play from CSGO at like 200-300fps, GTA5 at 100-120fps on medium/high settings, or other games at about 40-60fps at medium/high settings (ARK). If you want to play other games and benefit from the greater FPS, get a 970. When you're a gamer, FPS means everything, even moreso than shiny graphics. Get your FPS to 60+fps before valuing pretty graphics. The 970 will achieve both over the 960. Verdict: -GTX 960: Get it now if you are in desperate need of an upgrade and plan on upgrading at a later point in time. It's gotten to the point in time where it's considered as a mid/mid-high range card. -GTX 970: Get it if you can afford to or plan on saving up for something like this at a later point in time. Pay a little more and get something vastly superior. Although I own this card, it's something I'm not planning on keeping in the long run. I fell into the "I needed a card now vs months down the road". My advice for anyone buying computer hardware: DO YOUR RESEARCH. DON'T BUY SOMETHING JUST BECAUSE IT'S LESS EXPENSIVE. If you do, you could be buying a hugely inferior card for like 70 dollars less than something that blows it out of the water (does not really apply to the 960 vs 970 cards).

If you are just focused on max detail gaming in 1080p, this EVGA GTX 960 will suit your needs just fine. It can even go higher if you are willing to trade off on a lower details setting. The card's design is elegant, with a metal heat backplate and the power jack sitting on top of the card (versus some cards that have it at the end of the card). It runs cool and is quiet, because the fan doesn't turn on until the card reaches a certain temperature. This means the card will run a bit warmer when idle, but is nearly silent. You can override this setting in the Nvidia Control Panel. Overall, this card has done what I've asked it to do and I have no complaints.

This card so far has been highly disappointing. I have been trying to get decent performance out of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 for a few days now. My experience has been nothing but up and down and mostly insufficient processing of graphics while in game. This card gets extremely hot very fast and when it good it doesn't last for more than maybe 45 minutes. Strange, just no. I haven't had over a week yet and I already know 100% this card was a mistake and its time for a new one.

I returned this as I was able to get the 970 for about 30 bucks more. It worked but I just didn't get the frame rates I hoped for.

I've used it for 3 months and am happy with it. The card runs every game I had with max details, is far more powerful than a GTX 750 Ti, and very quiet. I bought the GTX 960 to play the Witcher 3 and the game came with it, so best deal around! It handles it better than any console, but is still a mid level card. If you want higher performance, you'll need a significantly more expensive card.

    Nice upgrade from GTX 750ti

I upgraded from the 750ti and saw a nice performance boost. I am getting an extra 15-25 fps without doing any overclocking. Can play anything I throw at it on Highest/Ultra with ease. Fans barely move even when playing Battlefield:Hardline on Ultra for hours. May be that my rig is in a colder room. And when they do move, they are extremely quiet. No coil whine that I can hear. Great product for the price.

I purchased this to replace my GTX 570 that died. I came into the store looking for a GTX 660 that was priced at $200. Unfortunately I didn't see any in stock but found this at almost the same price. Only reservation I had was if it would still work with my old Asus P8P67 3.0 motherboard. Luck smiled on me as it fit like a dream. It took about 10 minutes to get the drivers to update through Geforce Experience. Usage: I mainly play Swtor currently. The old 570 worked well but after putting this card in and using Geforce Experience to optimize the game settings, its like a brand new game. Neon lights have great visual colors to them and stand out more. Shadows pop from everything. Even model details from the ground to my character are a lot crisper and cleaner. I'd recommend this card to any gamer that is looking for a good upgrade from an older card.

    Great Video Card on Budget

    Posted .

I bought this because I had problem after I upgrade Windows 8.1 to 10. My old card(evga gtx 560 ti) doesn't support Windows 10. After researching online for new video card, it seems 'GeForce gtx 960' is the best choice for around $200. If you can spend more money 'gtx 970' is better choice, but 970 goes for $330 - $400. Best buy had best price. Other sites list $239 for this. You can get for $200 - $210 if you go for gtx 960 SSC#super Super clocked#. This is gtx 960 FTW#for the win#. Everything is the same except FTW has little better speed. I almost get SSC from amazon for $210, but I needed it right now. So I searched Best buy hoping they do carry. Best buy only had FTW but it was $219, amazon was $239. If you have a problem after upgrade to Windows 10, this is the one you need to buy. If you are PC gamer, save more money then get a GTX 970. If $200 is too much for you, get a GTX 700 series.

    Great Mid Level Card

After a recent computer build (i5, MSI, 8gb) I was looking for a comparable video card that would run today's games. I settled on this one. The 950 falls a bit short and stepping up to the 970, it's at least another 100 dollars. I liked this one, because compared to the other EVGA 960's this one was the fastest. Essentially here's the quick: If you're reading this then you already know about computers. This card will run EVERY game that will come out in 2016. It will NOT run every game at max settings. I've found that any game before 2015 runs at max no problem. So if you want a card for maximize a 1200+ computer build (before GPU) then I recommend setting up in cards to 970 or 980. If you're looking for a good card to run games and don't care about always maxing out setting, then this is a good buy.

Upgraded from a GTX 750 to this card and I have to say simply amazing. Actually have 2 of these, one in my wife's new PC and now one in mine. Smooth as silk. We bought this card because we play EverQuest 2, H1Z1, and 7 Days to Die. Runs all games on Ultra flawlessly!

I picked up this thing at my local BB. I have always been an EVGA fan and prefer them. The 960 has been a great upgrade from my old GTX 650 Ti 2 GB :-P I can play Dying Light, Dead Rising 3, Battlefield 4, Max Payne 3, Batman Orgins, and many modern games at MAX settings and run smooth as butter B-) It is great to be equipped for DirectX 12 with 2 GB, Quad-Core Graphic Processor (Maxwell Chip), and plenty of different video outputs :-) But don't expect it to run FULL HD in GTA V or any other new or coming games that require alot of VIDEO MEMORY. You will want a 970 with 4 GB for that and the future

I bought this card as an upgrade to the Geforce GTX 645 that came with my computer. It was quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, but it fit in my case just fine. All I had to do to set it up was reinstall the graphics driver. One nice thing about this card is that the fans don't run all the time. They only run when the card needs to be cooled.

So I just picked up this cad the other day and can't stop smiling. Both Evga's website and Best Buy has this card rated for a boost GPU clock at 1367Mhz but with out even making a single adjustment it runs a 1455Mhz. I'm sure if I was running a UHD monitor things would be different with only 2gigs of memory but so for so good. :-)

I'm a game freak and this card does wonders for my games. I'm very impressed with the quality and clarity it makes. I'm not a computer wizard so I just know this card is awesome. I don't think you can find a better graphics card for the price.
