Originally, I had watched this movie on Amazon or elsewhere that I cannot remember. However, the memory was much better than the repeat. I acquired it because it was a UHD movie and figure it would have been a good acquisition. But it is rather a one time great flic to never probably be repeat. The quality of the movie as a UHD meets the minimum expected quality. I invested the first time I watched the movie about 2 hours watching it but the second time I lost those two hours and whatever I paid for the film.

The movie itself is slow paced but the thoughts and questions it invokes are deep. the movie takes many twists and leaves you questioning the future direction we are headed in. the cinematography and special effects are great, you really do not know exactly what is going to happen when it finally does. this is one of those movies you need to watch because it will bring up questions of humanity that you have probably not pondered before. for people who cannot follow story or deep plots and are just into mindless action this movie might not be for you. it is very thought provoking

Beautiful sci-fi flick on artificial intelligence

I saw this in the theatre, found it very intriguing and wanted to see it again. A young man wins a contest and gets to spend a week at the boss's remote home, and finds that he gets to evaluate an artificial intelligence in the body of a seductive, manipulative "young woman". The boss owns the world's largest search engine, and is a multi-layered aggressive, bullying brilliant inventor with an agenda of his own. The principle actors are incredible, the setting is gorgeous, and the plot twists are spell-binding. An excellent piece of sci-fi. The extra features are wonderful, too.

Thoughtful, insightful, compelling take on AI

Spoiler free: This film presents a relatively original take (for films at least) on artificial intelligence and the morality behind such an event were it to take place. It is science fiction and drama, through and through. It tackles one or two main points straight on and does a good job - it doesn't get too big for the goals that it is trying to achieve. I walked away thinking about what I saw, which is more than I can say for most films. The blu-ray is relatively sparse, but adequate given the relatively low purchase price. A solid buy.

This movie will get you thinking about how we might use robots in the future especially those that look like and behave like humans but have to obey us. If you're at all interested in movies that examine artificial intelligence from Terminator to AI: Artificial Intelligence to i-Robot then definitely pick this one up in 4K with lossless sound.

I bought this movie based on the reviews. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I did really enjoy it. The filming to make a human appear as a robot must have been very difficult. The video and audio quality was excellent. The ending of the movie took me by surprise, but I found it most interesting.

A Turing test is performed over the course of the movie on an AI- not just the sentience, but it she can physically and emotionally pass for a human. There are only 3 characters who play parts in the movie- the creator of the AI, the tester, and the AI, and the interplay between the 3 and how it plays out and changes throughout the movie ends with you leaving the movie questioning- whats next? Is this a good thing? Was the AI treated humanely, and/or should it have been? Your answers to these questions can give you insight into your own views of the future of AI.

The movie was based and predicated on the futuristic design, and layout of technology. The movie proceeds with a predecessor design of conscious thought and a computer. Falling under way to understand self-awareness in a computer is to test it this movie gives you out peak and awareness of how to do it or not? The plot has a tendency to get a little slim in readable, but other than that I thought the movie was at least a good movie. Scoring 1 through 10 the highest number being the best valinse 3 nudity 3 plot 6 predictability 6

I purchased this movie after seeing a few advertisements for it. This is easily the best movie I have seen all year. If you like technology this movie is for you. It keeps your attention and has many twists throughout to make you second guess until the end. It was so good I went back and bought a second copy on Blue ray to add to my collection. Even though there was no real big name actors in this movie- they do not disappoint and the CGI is spot on! I highly recommend this movie! It is a believable movie that you can visualize happening in real life and times.

I recently purchased a New Samsung Q90T 65" (2020) Q-LED TV and matching Q950T Samsung Soundbar and 4K UHD Blu-ray Player and wanted to purchase a few really good 4K UHD Movies to show off the picture and ATMOS surround audio. This DVD does not disappoint. Great movie with plenty of action scenes with very good Surround sound. And I got it on sale! Better than going to the Movies, especially now since COVID-19.

    When AI takes over

This is a very timely movie about the potential effects of creating artifically intelligence robotics. It is kind of like Jurassic Park for robotics. The girl who played the robot is very good and has landed some other good rolls like Jason Bourne. This also a native 4K transfer not some upscaled imposter like 3/4 of the stuff out there. The picture is truly a knock out. If you are looking to add more native 4k to your collection and like sci fi then this a definite buy.

This was a good movie, but it also creeped me out because it makes me wonder whats in store for humanity down the road. The Terminator did the same thing though so I shouldn't be too creeped out, lol. This is one of thiose movies that provokes some thought as to how humans and machines would co-exist if Machines were to become more "Human". It also in a way warns of the consequences of that potential reality. Still a great movie to check out if you're into sci-fi!

This is one of my favorite films of the year so far. Alicia Vikander's performance is masterfully nuanced and understated such that empathy is garnered perhaps more so for her character overall than the human co-stars. Domhnall Gleeson continues to impress as does Oscar Isaac, and the scenes in which their personalities play off one another both positively and in nerve-wracking ways are intriguing to watch. I won't spoil anything about the story overall, but you owe it to yourself to watch this sci-fi gem as soon as you can!

    EX MACHINA

Ex Machina posits some interesting if ultimately fairly trite ideas about machines achieving true consciousness. What perhaps works better than any high falutin' philosophizing in this film is the incipient paranoia which slowly takes hold of Caleb as he attempts to complete his Turing Test. Performances are uniformly excellent here, and Alex Garland proves he's a directorial talent to watch. Technical merits are generally excellent, the supplemental package is decent, and Ex Machina comes Highly recommended.

Like I stated above, what an awesome movie!!! Ask's very great questions about Artificial Intelligence and how our society should handle them when presented the technological breakthrough of conscious robotics. Much like the AMC series Humans, this is a great piece of storytelling that gives you an interesting idea of what it would mean to have Artificial Intelligence living among us and how we would treat them. Give it a shot, Alicia Vikander is a real find, she's sweet and evil all rolled into one, You'll love it!!!

Very solid purchase, the main issue is that the digital code is for Vudu and not MoviesAnywhere. Vudu's website is very slow and not as convenient as MoviesAnywhere. It took a very long time (couple of hours) to finally get the movie onto the account since the website was so slow.

Truly a great movie that is great for conversation after the fact with all your geeky friends. With real world development into AI and what that means for humans, this movie intelligently tackles a concept which has been beaten to death by Hollywood. Instead of a movie about how the machines have taken over and humanity is on the brink of extinction, this one focuses on three characters, what it means to be "living", and encourages the viewer to actually consider multiple points of view.

When it comes to purchasing movies, I have a rule: "It must be good enough that I could...not that I "would", but that I "could"...watch it twice in a row. It must also be a film that I've already seen. However, once in a while, there comes a film that, while I haven't seen it, I know, based on other sources, that it's a must-add to my collection. This is one of those films. I haven't had time (yet) to watch it, but, as stated above, I already know this is a "must-add".

If you are expecting a lot of action and mayhem in an apocalyptic world, this is not the film (go pick Lucy). This is intellectual sci-fi done in a way that what would seem to be tedious turns out to be as described: "mesmerizing". You continue watching this film wondering how it will end, thinking different theories as you go along. Worth it for the price and a must-have if you are a fan of Sci-Fi. Somehow, it brings to mind another strange film, Under the Skin.
