One of my favorite movies. Oscar Isac is absolutely phenomenal in this film. If you are in to scifi this is an absolute must watch! I will warn that the pacing is slow and steady for most of the movie, but if you go in with that knowledge I think that you will come out appreciating this work.

Ex Machina is the science fiction movie that comes once in a generation. It's a complex and thought provoking film on the dangers of artificial intelligence, and the true qualities of humans. The film also utilizes ground breaking new Rotoscope digital effects, and features a career defining performance from Alicia Vikander. Highly recommended to anyone with a passion for science in their science fiction.

this film feels like "The Matrix" of the current decade. lovers of sci fi should not hesitate to pick this up and added it to their collection. great story, great performances, great visual effects (that actually won an Oscar) along with top notch picture and sound quality. Definitely, one to own and treasure forever. This is a movie that will be talk about in film school for years to come.

Wow! This is an exceptional movie. Smartly written and acted, great performances. The special effects are extraordinary. You really believe the characters are interacting with androids. Well worth purchasing the blu ray, everything about this movie is beautiful and you you will want to see every last detail in all its HD glory! The Digital HD copy is the frosting on the cake. Watch this film anytime, anyplace!

Overall the movie is good but not excellent. Visuals are excellent but the movie drags on in many areas. I'm glad I bought the 4K movie to add to my collection but at a low price at BB.

The story of a robot maker trying to make his invention feel and act like a human being. The unwitting employee he choses to be the judge of this success/failure gets caught up in the "test" of this success, as does the robot subject "herself". For a robot movie, this has surprisingly many relationship and interaction twists, including a twist at the end (which I will not spoil here)!

Ex Machina is a very interesting story of how a machine passes the turing test by using the most basic of all human traits. And it points to some ethical issues such as once we have created a being capable of self-awareness, how do we treat them? As property or as people. I was thoroughly entertained even though it did seem to plod along in some parts of the story.

I read a lot of reviews before seeing this movie saying that it would be unique. I definitely got that, but half way I found myself a little bored. Saying that, it was still entertaining enough to have me watch the whole movie and I was very surprised in the end. Some sci fi movie lovers will love the movie because it is very unique and different from other sci fi movies these days.

I could not have been more impressed with this movie. Engaging, tense, eerie with a dash of creepiness thrown in. I could literally write a lot about this movie and never do it justice. The performances are nuanced and totally believable and the subject matter is definitely possible if not probable, which adds to the general effect of wonder at exactly what this movie was trying ot portray. true genius.

Ex-Machina may look like a sci-fi film, but it has more in common with Whiplash. A four characters piece that lets you watch a psychological game play out. The actors are fantastic and the film makes you feel the walls closing in around everyone as you approach the end game of the film. Buy this film. You won't be disappointed. Also, lots of great special features that delve into the making of the film.

Really liked the plot and actors within this stylish sci-fi. I won't say the ending was unexpected, but feels like it had simply finished what it wanted to say and reached it's conclusion-we're done here; it could have had more bite, perhaps been more satisfying, but was poetic nonetheless. Loaned to two co-workers, one whom liked the film, one whom did not. Recommended escape

This is a cool sci-fi movie about a man who wins a competition to spend a week in the estate of a brilliant tech CEO to take part in a study of a new A.I. I wont say much for fear of spoiling anything but if you are a fan of sci-fi I would recommend picking it up. It is a little independent so I didn't really recognize anyone of the cast members but don't let that stop you.

This movie is made so meticulously that each detail supports the intimate and small stakes narrative. Upon rewatch, I found myself making new connections and appreciating the filmmakers vision that much more. The bonus/special features are pretty standard fare, but you can often for this 4k for $10 and under. Great addtion to the collection.

I'd heard positive things about this movie and bought it without having seen it before. It was certainly worth the gamble. It is an excellent film and the performances are expertly delivered. I've been a fan of Oscar Isaac since seeing him in "Inside Llewyn Davis" and he doesn't disappoint as a hermit tech genius. Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander are outstanding as well.

I tend to really enjoy A24 films and when sci-fi gets involved I know I'm in for a treat. Ex Machina is a solid sci-fi thriller with a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and questioning the ethics of those involved.

I went in initially thinking this had something to do with ex machina the jap anime series.. But it didn't, I was so into the movie I ate my nails... Lol it was intense, thrilling, suspenseful and just kept me wanting more... The end could've been better but its satisfying enough.. Everyone has different opinions for movies but if ur into tech,robots,and suspense you'll like this movie.

from alex garland of 28 days later and sunshine fame come this cool take on the turing test concept....creating a legit AI. Stars the tomb raider alicia vikander and two star wars mains...oscar isaac as the creator and dohmnall Gleeson as the tester. Super cool film that gets you thinking.

When I purchased a 4K player, I felt obligated to pick up at least one disc to check it out. I went with Ex Machina for both its scenery (the outside shots are magnificent) as well as the fact that this film is still the best movie focused on artificial intelligence I've seen.

Ex Machina was quite a pleasant surprise. I would not consider myself a huge fan of Sci-Fi. But there are a handful of Sci-Fi films that I have really enjoyed and Ex Machina is one of them. If you are looking for an action packed and special effects filled Sci-Fi movie, watch something else. But I thought that Ex Machina was a beautifully shot and thought provoking film.

I really enjoyed this film, but due to the overwhelming reaction of it being an amazing film, my hopes were too high. Don't get me wrong, this was enjoyable and better than most films that have come out recently, but sometimes over-positive expectations affect the general viewing. I would highly recommend watching this, just don't expect a masterpiece!
