The directors were on vacation when they filmed!!

Satisfying Ending to a unique, great series

What made this scifi series special was the importance of family and friends and determination and a sense of history repeating itself. This theme carried through to the end with both the humans AND some the aliens who they came to know. Even with understandable losses the human race kept going and came through to rebuild again. One of my favorite Spielberg backed series.
