It helps to be familiar with the Harry Potter series, but the Fantastic Beast series stands on its own -- much like Lord of the Rings was followed by The Hobbit.

Excellent movie to enjoy with the family. A little different from the traditional Harry Potter movies, but great fun.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is one of my favorite movies ever. We bought it here at Best Buy when it came out because they were the only ones who were selling the collector's steelbook edition. Love it!

This story takes place before Harry Potter goes to Hogwarts, and adds a dimension of wizardry in America. It was entertaining and exciting. Loved the animals and their antics. Very enjoyable for the whole family.

We watched this movie on Demand the first time and loved it! We watched it again after dinner and once again the next evening. Loved this movie better than any of the others. It was fun fun fun magic and critters.

If you are looking for a return to the wizarding world that JK Rowling created, this will take you back for another, but different view, of that. It was an interesting movie, although it didn't grab a hold of me the same that the Harry Potter series did. Still, it's a fun journey and worth the time to watch it.

If you like the Wizarding World of the Harry Potter you will love this movie, it is everything you have grown to love and expect from the wonderful author of the Potter series, very enjoyable well worth the buying.

Beyond the fantastic creatures are the great special effects that brings them to life. A definite must see if you liked the Harry Potter movies. Delightfully mesmerizing with a slight touch of intrigue and danger.

Very very good. The creatures in the movie were really cool. a good story. I will purchase the new movie when it is released. (part 2) As in my other reviews the picture and sound is great in 4K

After being a Harry Potter fan and enjoying all those books and movies,our family could not wait for this movie to come out. We first enjoyed it at the local movie theater and now at home with family and friends.

Enjoyable movie that fills in some of the details about the author of one of the text books used in Hogwarts. Interesting backstory about a British wizard that came to America and his experiences during his visit.

Enjoyed the movie presentation (samsung 4k player to LG OLED), surround audio. While the acting was good and the characters/world interesting - some of the plot felt disjoint in some places and rushed in others. Hopefully some better pacing in the sequels to this prequel movie group to the wizarding world.

I enjoyed the movie as I have all of the magical movie series. I'm hard of hearing only when using my TV due to the frequencies and especially playing DVDs, but I recently bought an acoustic speaker, so I could hear the DVD's dialog much better. This movie is very hard to hear, with it's dialog being sooo low.

I was already in love with this movie prior to buying it since I saw it in theater, but was equally in love with the steelbook. It was a little expensive; however, it came with 3 copies so that makes it worth it.

The movie itself is very good, and I found the 3D picture and sound to be excellent. There weren't a lot of pop-out 3d effects, but rather a subtle adding of depth that really enhances the image on the screenl

First, let me say that I really liked this movie! I saw it in the theater and it was fun. However, it was not as exciting as the Harry Potter series, but to be fair nothing will probably measure up in my opinion. I liked Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of Newt Scamander. I am hoping that any sequels will match up!

I was worried that this wouldn't live up to the Harry Potter series but I was pleasantly surprised. Loved the characters and the actors that played them. Great storyline....makes you anxious for the next movie!

Potter fans hold onto your wizarding hats! JK Rowlings has done it again. This movie deals with all the fantastic beasts of the wizarding world. I won't give away the plot, let's just say it's a real thriller!

Super realistic special effects. Mentioned Hogwarts and another school. Sense a future film about the other school along with another Harry Potter type character. Story line was excellent along with the editing.
