My wife and I enjoyed watching this movie together.

This is the first movie from the Harry Potter universe set back in the 1920's in the era of the villain Grindewald. We are introduced to the writer of Harry Potter's magical creatures textbook 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' - he's researching these animals in a time when magical creatures are not well understood and are mostly feared, and he finds himself in the middle of a mess in New Your when some of his creatures escape. He, a New York Muggle and two local witches band together to overcome some creature- and man-made obsticles in this first installment. The acting and directing were not quite as sharp as the past Harry Potter films, but they still tell an exciting story. The disk is visually excellent with great sound. And there are a lot of supplements. The 3D version is quite good too.

This is one of the best harry potter movies I love it

I love love love love this film! I've rewatched it many times and plan to again and again. It's a perfect addition to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and a delightful film of it's own right. I look impatiently forword to the future installments, which will take far too long to be ready. The characters, as is JK Rowling's wont, are so multidimensional, and so clearly fleshed out, keeping us interested in learning every new thing about them we can. I look forward to seeing the interpersonal relationships develop between Newt and Tina, Queenie and Jacob, as well as even Grindelwald and Dumbledore, which is briefly teased at, by combining prior knowledge with one tiny mention in this film. All in all, completely worthy of its place in the Harry Potter Franchise, which is not an easy task.

The newest J.K. Rowling film was specially created for the screen and isn't a book adaption. While this movie moves back in time as well as traveling to New York, it certainly has the same feel to it as the Harry Potter movies. Instead of following a child growing up in a wizard's school, we have a wizard carrying a magic bag filled with unique creatures (illegally). When one of them escapes it begins his run in with the local law since raising magical creatures is outlawed there. Fantastic Beasts is a fun film, but as usual it has its dark side as well though even children can probably enjoy it without being too scared and the CGI creatures are fantastically done. They seem as real as the setting and actors in it. Definitely a recommended film that captures family fun and action equally well.
