Not really a boxing fan. this movie had some good scenes

Mark gave a great performance and showed Bale a thing or two..

I loved this movie the first time I saw it in the theater; I loved it so much, I had to go see it again. I'm very eager to take it off the shelf the day it comes out because it's definitely worth a purchase, not just a rental. The plot may be a typical inspirational sports drama (based on a true story, of course) at first glance for Wahlberg's character, but it's much more than that. The movie is about family and home more than anything. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo definitely deserved every acting award they won for this movie!

Knew nothing about this being based on real events or people. The story is great. What really shines are the performances. Christian Bale so captures his character that he is almost unrecognizable. All the actors give fantastic performances. Technically the film is really above par. The fight scenes are shot like a sporting event, not using dramatic angles to heighten the tension but real angles to feel as if you are watching an actual fight.

This is a great movie! It is based on a true story and the acting is excellent! I think this is by far Christian Bale's best performance. Great story and deserved picture of the year!

Great movie. even though the film centers around Wahlberg's character, it really is Bale who steals the show, giving his bets performance since American Psycho.

movies based on true stories always make I interesting to watch because you can always compare them later - good to watch

Mark Wahlberg movies are hit and miss for me, and this was pretty much a middle-of-the-road movie. Maybe it's because I'm not a big fan of boxing these days, but it was OK. Nothing terrible, nothing to write home about. I'm glad I watched it, but it's not a movie I'll go out of my way to watch again.
