Based on the previous Final Fantasy movies that I have watched, this movies was slow and very boring. The plot line was predictable.

The only real issue is the digital format. It’s in Japanese. I really was hoping it was going to be available in English.

This “movie” is for those who play the games. There is not enough backstory or character development for the “new” viewer. CGI is ok, similar to in game sequences, not to the level of a CGI film.

Great Movie, but with a huge caveat:

I personally love FFVII: Advent Children. However, this movie takes place two years after the end of the video game, Final Fantasy VII. Since this movie was not really intended to be marketed to a general audience, the makers of the movie assume that you've played the video game. Thus, the plot and character development is REALLY sparse, and takes advantage of the immensely developed story in the video game. So if you watch this movie without knowledge of FFVII, you're not going to understand pretty much anything. The graphics are incredible for a movie from 2005, and I personally love the music. They also throw in lots of little touches that are very fun, like the Loz's ringtone in the church scene with Tifa. Everyone who played and enjoyed FFVII should buy this movie without question. If only to see the Omnislash version 5 at the end! However, if you didn't play FFVII, sit back and enjoy the pretty pictures and sounds without as much of a story.

    Wonderful Movie for FF7 Fans

FFVII: Advent Children Complete, which simply is the Director’s Cut, is a significantly better film than Advent Children. I cannot really recommend the plain ol’ Advent Children but I wholeheartedly recommend Advent Children Complete. The numerous extra scenes and reworked dialogue works great and causes what was kinda a mess of a movie to be a pretty great movie that makes sense. With every passing year the computer visuals will look more and more dated, but in 2020 they still look pretty darn good. This isn’t anything that a non-fan would enjoy as you won’t understand anything about the movie if you’ve not played Final Fantasy VII (but, I mean... who hasn’t played that game at least once over the past 20ish years? I still play through it once a year), but a FFVII fan will greatly enjoy FFVII:ACC. Just make sure that you order this Complete version and not the original Advent Children.
