This is a great movie and the price for the Blu-ray at Best Buy you can't beat. Blu-ray actually makes a difference even on an older movie like this.

Outstanding! The movie looks fabulous and better than ever in the glorious 4K edition of RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD. This edition came with a slipcover when it was initially released, but I am not sure if you can get one now. Audio is good at English DTS 5.1. 2 Commentaries, one by Sylvester Stallone and the other from David Morrell. English Subtitles. Subtitles Off. All special features are here on the Blu-ray. Get this one and thank you Sylvestor for doing a great job on this movie! Love it. Yes, I would recommend!

John Rambo. A simple man who just wants to see an old friend. Who knew so much could go so wrong in this small town. Pitted against a local sheriff, Rambo proves to be quite the adversary. The cops have no idea what they are up against and soon a new action hero was born. Rambo is a lethal killing machine and these people have made him mad. Stallone is fantastic in this role and it is easy to see how he remains an icon. The story is small and confined unlike the bigger sequels and is all the more compelling for it. Great action, great casting, great dialogue.... great movie. Pick this up today - now available with stunning picture and sound in 4K!

Great old film about a vet returning from war just trying to get a good meal...but gets jerked around by some local cop who wants him to just pass by as quick as possible...neither one knows what is about to happen next and no one watching knew what to expect...one of Stallones greatest movies

This is a great restoration of the classic action drama about a Vietnam veteran who runs afoul of a cruel Sheriff in the Pacific Northwest. The opening credits are still a bit wonky - most likely due to the source material, but overall, the movie looks the best it ever has on home video, blasting previous DVD and Blu-ray releases that I've owned out of the water. Highly recommended if you're a fan of Stallone and/or this series, or enjoy an action movie that also has a real message (contrary to most of the sequels and all of the ripoffs) about the horrors veterans have gone through, and how they are treated by society.

This Blu-Ray edition simply offers the movie in better clarity than DVD. That is the only advantage of this over the DVD Special Edition release, which was loaded with behind-the-scenes bits. I know a lot of people don't bother with home video disc extra features, and I usually only watch those once, but this does not even have a menu or chapters. Most Mill Creek Direct produced discs are cheaply produced, without proper menus and with poor packaging. Still, if this is priced really low and you want to watch the movie with better clarity, it serves that purpose.

I never get tired of watching First Blood. I saw this movie when I was a teenager all those many years ago and it left an impression on me. It's more personable than the other two films, although, I like them too. The beautiful locations and woodlands always made me feel like going camping. The action in First Blood is more on the level than the other Rambo films but thats why I like it. Also, there a moments in this film that are heartfelt and thought provoking. You know, Its too bad, I thought this was one of Sylvester Stallone's best perfomances in any of his movies.

Wow, the writing, the acting, the scenario, all amazing in this movie. Yes the 2 sequels aren't great, but this was an amazing follow-up to Rocky showing Stallone was a star in the making. John Rambo was just hoboing across the country to find his buddies from Vietnam and finding he is the only one left crushes his world and then is pushed to the limit by a small town, this is my kingdom, type of sheriff who pushes the wrong man too far. You should also watch the more recent Rambo movie after this to see where he is nowadays, a movie with more money and much better production value than this shoestring movie.

First Blood is a 1982 American action adventure film directed by Ted Kotcheff. It is co-written by and starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo, a troubled and misunderstood Vietnam veteran who must rely on his combat and survival senses against the abusive law enforcement of a small town. It is based on David Morrell's 1972 novel of the same name and is the first installment of the Rambo series. Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna also appear in supporting roles. The film was released in the United States on October 22, 1982. Despite initial mixed reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing $47.2 million at the box office. Since its release, First Blood has received reappraisal from critics, with many praising the roles of Stallone, Dennehy, and Crenna, and also praising its action sequences and has been recognized as a cult classic and an influential film in the action genre. The film's success spawned a franchise, consisting of three sequels (all which were co-written by and starred Stallone), an animated series, comic books, and novels.
