Don't care for this CD. Only liked one song. Kid Rock needs to go back to Rock/Rap

I will preface my review with the fact that I have only listened through once plus my initial 'sample' listen..With any new CD I typically sample through all tracks and see what ones make me want to listen thru and/or replay. Then I listen all the way through to give all tracks q chance. These cuts stopped me on my sampling run ..First Kiss, Jesus and Bocephus, Johnny Cash, One More Song, and FOAD...thats a full half of the CD which is a Win in my book! How many CDs do we all have where there's only one or two songs you ever listen to? So like I said, this album is a Win even based on just my first run through! I will give it a few start-finish listens before I decide on the rest. The self titled Kid Rock CD or Cocky still reign as my favorite KR albums but but I'm stoked that there's 5 tracks on First Kiss that make me reach for the replay button! This CD is definitely all a product of his Southern Rock-Country(ish) roots. I will use my above favorite CDs for reference: On First Kiss there's really none of the Trucker Anthem or Black Bob type tunes...mostly in the Picture or Midnight Train type vein. If you're a Kid Rock fan I'd say you will dig this CD, and if you're a fan of his Picture/All Summer Long type stuff you'll probably love it.

Most of the songs have the same sound and feel as others he's done in the past. Drinking beer with dad is pretty cool, as is Johnny cash. FOAD why? relationship song - you make me a better man - why? Seems like a tired album. Plus, it really shows that his vocal range is very limited. Production is great as are the musicians. I have tickets to see him again this year and I love the man, but don't buy this expecting anything radical or earthshaking. It's more like he fulfilled a contract comittment rather than he had something to say. Been there done that.. But, like a wife, when it's all you've got, you sit back and enjoy it anyway.

I have been Kid Rock fan since Devil With a Cause and he never disappoints. I like how he continues to go back to a more country sounds, it is hard not to put every song on repeat.
