I love this tracker. It is my first fitness tracker but I love this one. I wear it all the time. I love the challenges you can have with friends(if you download the fit bit app). Just since having it I have lost 10 lbs in three weeks. It helps keep you motivated to get in your steps and win challenges.

This is more feminine and stylist than the Charge HR, but I miss the stairs feature and the heartbeat monitoring options that I had with my Charge HR. The battery lasts much longer. I had to exchange this because Best Buy sent the wrong size and color. This fits more true to size than the Charge HR.

    Cool! Just...

So, I'm a fit guy who does a lot of weight lifting and running. I'm also a post-grad, who does a lot of typing. With that in mind, I picked up the Alta. It was great! Lightweight, comfortable even when typing, good battery, notifications, etc etc etc. It just a couple of issues: the band was too "open" for me, and the face was really thin. I think it's just my taste. I don't like that the band doesn't really have a mechanism that holds it together, like a "regular" watch. Instead, it's a peg that fits into a hole. Sooner or later, it seems like it's going to wear down, and potentially fall on the watch face and break. On top of that, I didn't feel like I was wearing much, so I don't know that I'd know if it fell off. Finally, it was hard to tap the screen over and over. Sometimes it just didn't turn on unless you tapped in the "right" way. I needed the button of the Charge 2 (which I ended up buying). I just...if you don't mind those things, and are looking for something dainty, the Alta is totally for you. I think after being used to wearing thick wrist watch bands that have clasps, I just couldn't pull it for the price. Again, it's a great fitness tracker, just wasn't for me. I'd recommend, if you don't mind those things I mentioned.

For the most part I've liked the Alta. It's been great for tracking steps and sleep. Unfortunately the bands are unreliable. My original band broke with in 6 months and now my second band is breaking after 7 months. Looking at the Fitbit Community posts this seems to be a recurring problem. This is a product defect and should be a recall issue.

I was very happy with my Alta fitbit. It was easy to set up and I like the fact that it helps encourage you to get your exercise in. Another plus is it is linked up to my Iphone so I can see who is calling me or can see my texts. I did like the fact that it was a thin band as I also use it for a watch and can still wear bracelets if I want, the only draw back by getting the thin one is it doesn't track you heart rate. Well worth the money!!

Wearing the Fitbit Alta has made me more conscious about exercise and motivates me to walk. I work hard to get 10,000 steps a day and drink more water. This particular model does not give the heart rate but that wasn't a major factor in my purchase. I was more interested in keeping track of my daily exercise and fluid intake. The only reason I gave a four star is because it doesn't have heart rate feature, which some people might want.

Helps learn how or what you need to improve

I read fitbit reviews for weeks before I gave in. It is great for giving you an overall idea of you current lifestyle and the app helps your set goals and learn how to improve. Other reviews are critical of the accuracy of the step counter but this issue only seems to happen if you're moving somehow. Driving sometimes activates the counter. My biggest complaint is that its not water proof- instructions say to dry it off ASAP if wet.

It's ok, depending on how you want to use it

Depending on how you plan to use it, it could be good. As a pedometer, it's good. I've found it to be pretty accurate and I've actually counted my steps just to compare. The watch feature is nice, and I like the way you can change the way the clock looks by including the date or rotating the display. But hey, there's tons of activity trackers that can do this. Where it fails for me is the notifications and the alarm. Most of the problem is that you just can't feel the anemic little vibration it has. My last activity tracker had a great alarm/vibration notification and I had no trouble feeling it or even waking up to it. The Alta's is just too wimpy. It's not able to wake me, so now I have to find an alternative alarm to wake me (and not my wife). The texts and call notifications you just have to be too quick in order to see. They are very brief, and they don't last. If the notifications aren't a real concern for you, then this is a really good tracker. I like that it's water proof in case I get stuck in the rain, or I'm washing my hands. The display is beautiful, very clear. Even small text is legible and sharp. The app is really good and it's social aspects are easy and fun. I'm just disappointed that the notification and alarm vibration are so wimpy.

I had the fb flex befor. It was good but no real visuals except dots. On occasion I would lose access to the app and had to perform phone resets or device reboots. This Alta is great. It has a good display and no issues with connectivity. One issue is recognizing activity. At the gym, although confirmed it doesn't recognize my movement in an elliptical machine. If I try to add the activity it gives more active minutes than it should.
