    Frequently defective

I purchased this device a few months ago now and it came with what I found out online was a fairly common manufacturers defect (a gap between the device and the band). I reached out to the warranty team and was told they would fix or replace it. It took a full month before I received a replacement device which also was defective when I received it (the screen wouldn’t light). When I reached out to Fitbit their warranty team has been impossible to contact and a nightmare to work with. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this unless you’ve got 3 months to go back and forth with them trying to get a fully functional device.

    Screen to dim to read

The Charge 4 has the same dim screen problems that its predecessors the Charge 2 and 3 have had over the last 3 to 4 years and it is obvious Fitbit has no concerns for their product quality or customers as they had not resolved this issue in several years. If interested in one just go to the Fitbit community forum sight and you will see for your self. Would have added photo but all it looks like is a Fitbit Charge with a blank screen due to it is so dim.

    Was great. Until it wasn't.

It lasted until the warranty ran it. It was awesome. Did all the things I wanted. Until a month after the warranty ran out. Then it started acting up. First it started having issues logging activities. The touch screen wouldn't recognize and go into a workout mode. Then the heart rate monitor started being glitchy. Then the battery seemed to be almost dead all the time. Next thing I know, the heart rate monitor has stopped completely. Did a hard restart. Heart rate came back but battery was at 2%. Charged it and when I took it off the charger it just starts flashing and pulsing. Hard restart. Flashing and pulsing. Contact customer service. He walks me through restarting it again. Then instructs me to load a new clock face. It crashes while installing. Device is now 100% unresponsive with a message saying to reinstall something else from the app, the app says it can't do anything while something is installing. After 15-20 minutes on chat with the tech, he instructs me to log out of the app. I question how I'm going to get back to him as I'm talking to him THROUGH the app. No, it'll be fine. Yea, it wasn't. Restart the app to find that not only is the chat with him gone, but chat is no longer an option through the app. Never again FitBit. NEVER AGAIN. Worst customer service. Complete autobot replies, wasting time doing things over and over again that didn't work. And the device lasted exactly long enough for the warranty to run out.

    Don't waste your money

Before you buy a Fitbit of any kind go to their Facebook page and you will find thousands of complaints. Also google "Better Business Bureau Fitbit" and you will find they will not accredit them and have nearly 1000 complaints and barely half have been resolved. I've had two Charge 3s. The first lasted 10 months and the replacement they sent me lasted 6 months. Their customer service is horrible. These trackers are defective and don't last. Please read the reviews before you buy and its not just the Charge 3. There are complaints about all different ones. They won't replace the second one they sent me because they say it goes on the original warranty of the first one so they offered me a discount on an upgrade but I had to buy another Charge 3 or Versa and only certain colors. The also won't let me use the discount on the new Charge 4. Now why would I want another Charge 3 when I've had two defective ones. Do yourself a favor and get an Apple watch. You will spend that much buying Fitbits in less than two years and at least they work and Apple stands by their products and has great customer service.

    Nice Looking But Lacks Function

    Posted .

I have owned several Fitbit products over the past several years. This particular product is very inconsistent for tracking distance, and is next to impossible to see or read in full sunlight. On about 4 different walks or runs and using the GPS, I found it to be off/different by at least 0.1 miles per mile. Other reviews said it was very accurate, but it has not been in my hands. In full sunlight, I couldn't even come close to seeing my heart rate when running, as the display was just too small and dim, regardless of settings. I have talked to FitBit technical support, and looked at forums, and nothing seems to consistently improve the distance measurements. Had bought this to replace the FitBit Versa 2, which also had wildly inconsistent distances-even when using GPS. I am done with FitBit.

    Hot Garbage

This is for Fitbit as a whole. Bought my wife the Charge 3 because she really wanted it even though I had my concerns. First 6 months were great, she loved it. 6 months later the device died and they replaced it. Now, one year later, the replacement died. Fitbit would not replace it a second time but instead gave us a discount to buy a new Fitbit. Why would I even think about putting my money down on a device that can't last more than a year. Fitbit (the company and device) is hot garbage. I'll never purchase one again and I'll tell everybody I know who is looking for a fitness watch to steer clear as well.

    Fitbit in General

I have owned a number of fitbits. None last more than 18 months. The problem now is that of 2 weeks ago I am getting two text type messages a day telling me I should turn on my fitbit app. I have limited battery life on my phone. I shut off all apps when not using. This is irksome. I am sure it is because Google bought Fitbit and they are trying to capture usage data. Something Fitbit promised not to do when they started out as a company. I am very irritated with them. I called customer service to report this and they hung up on me.

This doesn’t work for sleep tracking

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The whole reason I bought this was for the sleep tracking feature. I spoke with employees and they informed me it was a free service ,and it kinda of is having to pay to see anything worth tracking, but the sleep tracker does not work half the time! So it’s a service you pay for to get an error. No matter how tight you get it or placement on your arm. The screen is unresponsive, sometimes not working when you turn your wrist over and other times having to touch the face 3 or 4 times before it lights up. Overall extremely disappointed with the product and for it not to work with the price tag makes it even worse. Definitely will not recommend this product.

Useless as anything other than activity tracker.

If you only need this to be a step counter/calorie counter, then you're in luck. Sadly, it is horribly over-priced if that is all it can do. I have had mine for a few days now and have had no luck with all of my trouble-shooting in getting it to receive notifications for texts/calls/calendar updates. I've gone through all of the suggestions that the Fitbit message boards suggest, and nothing works. I have an iPhoneX, which shouldn't be an out of date device preventing these features from working properly. I got the more expensive Charge 4 so that it could be a nice peripheral to my phone. It sadly is anything but that, and will be returned.

    No longer worth the money

The popup ads on my new charge 4 are really obnoxious, and according to their customer service, there is no way to turn them off. This will be my last fitbit product.

Charge 4 is not a good investment

In 6 months my Charge 4 has failed me. I have had to return the watch 2 times (swimming screwed it up the first time) After waiting 6 weeks I was sent a second watch--it wouldn't hold a charge. The third watch band broke and I'm stuck with an tracker that I can't use.
