Recording the steps is counted by wrist movements. Therefore if you move your wrist while sitting cleaning or even brushing your hair the movement is recorded as a step. I contacted Fitbit, they are aware of this and simply say the device is not returnable at Best Buy —only if purchased with Fitbit. Offered stupid remedies none worked. Their final answer was to walk 100 steps check the device. Of course that works but if you wear it 24/7 doesn’t stop the wrist movements. 99.95 paid for a stupid device with no support or recourse from Fitbit

Get the Charge 4 instead of this

It has a twisted dense of humor - it buzzes intermittently to inform you that it is in 'DND' mode meaning that it won't disturb you with messages and the like. It cannot be disengaged. It buzzed day and night. It was returned to BestBuy who were very good about taking it back. It's probably still buzzing on a shelf somewhere.
