This remake of the classic was absolutely disgusting! The old classic movie just let your imagination take over. This remake had you wanting to hurl your guts out every time Jeff Goldbaum showed up on screen! NOT WORTH WATCHING!

    scary & tragic

David Cronenberg's followup to his hit The Dead Zone is another wonderful and tragic character study (albeit one with more gore). This remake of the Vincent Price 1950's film stars Jeff Goldblum as a shy scientist who has developed a Star Trek-esque transporter. His desire to show it to the reporter (Geena Davis) he falls for eventually leads to him testing on himself, without taking into account a housefly that has found its way into the device with him. Both Goldblum & Davis are instantly sympathetic & likeable, which enhances the tragic aspects of the film. Likewise, John Getz (as Davis's boss & former lover) becomes surprisingly more complex than the audience anticipates. For a film with a great amount of both gore & emotion, look no further.

So Creepy, So Great, So Cronenberg.

Cronenberg's 1986 remake of The Fly is one of the finest body horror films of the last 50 years, and a great peek into one man's descent into madness during his pursuit of human optimization. Fantastic performances throughout the film and a great paced story which makes your stomach turn. A tragic tale in many ways, it serves as a stark reminder that we cannot, and should not, push science beyond acceptable boundaries and limitations. Unfortunately, the sequel isn't all that much to speak of, but this movie will always have a place in my collection.

    Original Classic

Most science fiction films are big on ideas and special effects, but weak on coherence and character development; most horror films are just the same, except without the ideas. But David Cronenberg's 'The Fly' takes one simple idea, develops it properly, and eschews #its genuinely terrifying# special effects until its truly horrific climax. And by paying some attention to the personalities of its protagonists, it actually makes you care about them #Jeff Goldblum is excellent in the lead role#, and adds a level of serious reflection on the very nature of human mortality to the raw shock. The mix amounts to a gruesomely good film.

    More touching than scary

One of the most underrated horror/sci-fi films ever. Even though the plot was taken from the original 1958 version, the story that unravels is completly different from the original version. It's not only a horror film with the gore intensifying towards the end, but it's also very touching. A romance that started promising, along with the experiment being conducted, ended in a very tragic and haunting way. Awesome special effects. Jeff Goldblum's best film!!

What can i say but awesome remake of a classic monster film directed by the awesome Cronnenberg whose films have that uniqueness to them all their own. The Blu-ray has a fair transfer quality to it that may surprise others. The special features leave enough of for the viewer to be content with. Deleted scenes and great commentary by the director are the pluses. Overall well worth the purchase and easily rewatchable over time.

The first time I saw this movie was just by accident, pliping the channels. I did see the beggining but I was able to see the end. Then when I saw it on sale like $4.99 bluray . It's a must have in my collection.

This movie is a classic and in my opinion much greater than the original. It is also on Blu-ray here with an amazing transfer. The film has never looked better. I would recommend this one to any sci-fi horror fan.

    Be Careful Uninformed Consumers

The studios are starting the bait and switch under the Blu-ray banner.. Bought this movie to update my video collection to Blu-ray. Realized after the fact that the video is not 1080p HD. Specs says AVC @ 24 MBPS. Video doesn't look any different than my standard DVD copy version . Studios are starting to downgrade Blu-ray quality without informing the consumer. Make sure if you are buying Blu-ray movies from 20th Century Fox to read the specs to make sure you're getting full 1080p since they seem to be the only studio downgrading at this point or just check them all to be sure.

I love good old horror movies, like this. If you don't know who Jeff Goldblum is, you should watch this. The classic gore is great and the story is sweet and simple.

    Strange & Gross

This strange and gross remake of the 1958 original isn't anything to get excited about. Some decent material, but the film just focuses a bit too much on the 'disgusting' in my opinion. Stars Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. Widescreen, with bonus materials ported over from the standard dvd release.
