iCloud storage

I feel that anything I need to to store I can store myself. I don't want my storage stuff in a cloud that who really knows how many people have access to. If you delete it is it really deleted when it is in a a cloud?

They give you 5gb for free for use for as long as you have an Apple ID but 5 gb is basically nothing these days. I am only able to save my contacts on the free 5gb of iCloud, and maybe like 5 photos/videos.

If you use it, just back up your contacts so that when you get a new phone, you can easily port things over. Use a different option for your other storage needs. (E.g., photos, use Google Photos)
