A Terrible Vehicle for Other Than Streaming Music

If you have a significant CD library and a sizable library of music purchased from the iTunes Store, as I do, then it is a pretty bad storage vehicle. I have problems with the management of my iTunes library constantly. Apple Music often spontaneously changes versions of purchased songs to versions currently available; not what I purchased. Another, more frequent and more difficult problem is the double entry of songs. Both uploaded and purchased music will have every song listed twice. The result is different by album. Sometimes the songs play in order only once. Often the songs play twice, but still in order. Sometimes the double billing seems to so confuses the algorithm that the songs won’t play at all while iTunes tries to figure out what to do. Other times my music will be split with some in one entry, and some in another. I have had these problems for a few years and Apple never seems to have encountered them before, or to know how to solve the issues. If I could find another vehicle to manage my music, I would switch to it immediately. However, for now I am stuck in a. System that only cares about serving those who are satisfied with being fed.
