Apple Music is the superior music streaming app. I’ve been subscribed since my senior year in highschool, 2015, and it has never disappointed.

Apple Music and Spotify are very comparable. But when it comes to UI, I just prefer Apple Music. I think they nail the lyrics feature.

Previously, Apple Music faced fierce competition (we’re looking at you, Spotify). However, Apple turned the wick up by announcing that they’re making their entire library of music available in Lossless Audio format. As an added bonus, they were doing this at no additional charge. As of this post, the only other music service that offered Lossless audio, was Tidal. And even then, if you wanted to access to the lossless audio, you had to pay extra. Apple basically just undercut Tidal with this move. Just to note - Spotify and Amazon music currently do not offer lossless audio. Basically, Lossless Audio is the highest fidelity audio currently on offer. Think good ole CD’s and even vinyl. The audio is not compressed, and you have the full dynamic range of the audio when it was recorded. For audiophiles, this is great. For the average user where something sounds “good enough” to listen in the car via Bluetooth or on their wireless ear buds while they study, run, workout, etc, all of the above might not matter to them. The other downside is that in order to really enjoy lossless audio, you either have to: a.) use high end headphones that are wired, so you can plug in and listen, or b.) have one of Apple’s HomePod speakers, since they are Wi-Fi, and support the Lossless Audio format that Apple uses. Additionally, because of the demands of Lossless, you are not able to enjoy it via Bluetooth, which means cars and wireless ear buds are out of the question. Since this is already long winded, the appeal of lossless audio may appeal to a limited number of people. The music catalogue is smaller than Spotify, but I imagine it is slowly growing. At the end of the day, Apple Music is a good alternative to Spotify, especially if you’re entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. The availability of Lossless Audio can be appealing for audiophiles. Apple Music is also available as a skill on Amazon Echo, so you can access your Apple library that way as well. Finally, monthly subscription rate seems to be reasonable as well. It will mostly boil down to your personal preference.

Amazing to have so much music at your fingertips! Crazy to think we had to wait for songs to play on the radio, Apple Music provides music at an instance.

I mean Apple Music is essentially Apple's entire music library, it has almost every major artist and every album and most live albums by major artists, it even has many obscure artists. There were a few missing bands I was disappointed not to find and a few bands had missing albums, but it has most everything. It even has some special editions and remasters for some of the albums. My main complaints though are some of the versions of albums are not the definitive masters, like Genesis for example uses the 2008 remixes for all their albums, when most agree the original 80s CD pressings were the best versions, I mean even the 94 masters were acceptable, but these 2008 mixes just are not the definitive way to listen to Genesis' music and there should be alternative versions like they have for other bands, its a shame there are situations like this on Apple where the available master is not a good version and it ruins the experience for people who love the band or are possibly trying to get into the band. My other complaint is that there is often a lot of freezing a slow downs. I know this is basically streaming the music live, but I never have this problem on Youtube when I listen to music, Apple just feels a little buggy at times, and sometimes I'll be listening to an album and it will completely cut the song off and I won't be able to get back into it unless I reload the page which is annoying if you're trying to listen to an album. This isn't super frequent but it still happens way more than it needs to. I do like the layout of apple music and everything is organized nice and easy to fine, with everything separated in the artists pages by albums, live albums, and compilations. And the sound quality is at a high bit rate. I just feel like the only real issue is the loading and lagging issues. Most bands are here and 95% of the bands I enjoy are on here. It also isn't great for compilations, this is mainly great if you listen to bands, and its probably about on par with Spotify, except I prefer the layout of Itunes so this works better.
