Great, but no need to have it year round

I don't consider myself a "streamer" but HBO Max is always worth subscribing to a couple times of the year. I binge all the new and interesting shows, once in the summer and once in the winter. Having it year round is overkill.

The amount of quality content on HBO MAX is considerable. I did not have nearly enough time to watch everything that I wanted to during my 14-day trial. Classic movies, modern TV shows...there is certainly something for everyone.

Pleasant surprise to receive a free trial with a purchase the other day. I actually got to see WW84 for free also! May even subscribe after as new movies release vs. disney+ charging an additional $20 to view Mulan on top of your sub.

I appreciate that this was a free offer to try. I was able to watch what I wanted to watch on HBO max within that time frame, but there wasn't enough draw to continue beyond the 14 day trial.

Tough to go wrong these days with HBO/Max. We tried this 14 day trial, and are now happy subscribers. Thanks to Best Buy for having the offer/promo. Worthwhile wherever and whenever affordable.

Pretty amazing to just get this for free w/the purchase of so many of the movies that have been on sale for the holidays from Best Buy! Get it! Watch all of Game of Thrones during the 2 week holiday vacation and then cancel it...LOL!

    Mixed Feelings

I have to say... I’m not a big fan of HBO Max. I think it started when they removed “Gone With the Wind” and essentially made people to feel like they’re racist for enjoying it. Not cool. Also, as a filmmaker and cinema lover, I’m very turned off by their decision to throw all of those filmmakers under the bus and release their films on the steaming service the same day they go into theaters. I completely understand the logic of their decision, but a better way to go about it would have been cooler. I’ve always had the upmost respect for Warner Bros. I hope this isn’t a new era that kills their place in Hollywood.

    Little better than bait-and-switch

This review is limited to the 14-day free trial for new HBO Max subscribers. To set the scene... HBO has done a big no-no in their move to digital content in that they have provided too many options, with improper and illogical segmentation, and questionable value. Their recent channels and options include HBO (vanilla, with no indicator)/Go/Now/Max. It is a nearly indecipherable mess, than nearly makes me wish I could just pay for a Dish subscription and watch that way on DVR. On to the review... Leaving aside extremely poor marketing and value, we come to the two weeks of free service. Yes, this is free, so value is called to question. However, it does require setup time and payment in case you go over. And it still does create conflict as this may not be the version of HBO's service that you want. And how much TV do you watch in two weeks? Is that a valid trial period, when even some electronics come with 30-45 days of available returns? I am going to say that I value this at a 2/5 star overall package. HBO has some great content, but have way too many options to segment it, and they are all filled with fluff and filler content in-between the actually good titles. The time frame is weak, and the streaming experience has not been great for me, even with the better part of a gigabit connection available to my house, and my streaming devices all running on wired Ethernet. Compression is a beast, and that's the reality of streaming video. The quality is only so-so, with YouTube offering some less-compressed streams for free, and Netflix offering some more advanced HDR and fancier soundtrack formats, albeit all with some compromises. If you like being baited into subscribing for streaming media, I would generally recommend Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon before I would get to this, largely for the strength of libraries. What HBO does have that is good is unique to them, and that's undeniable. But unless you want to binge it within two weeks, I wouldn't even try using the trial offer.

A great deal. Could you see a first run movie for the entire family for the cost of a one month subscription ? No it would be $20 each plus treats? You just scored a great discount on first run movies.

I got this free offer with my purchase of a preordered game which was actually pretty good since we have been enjoying HBO Max for almost two weeks now and have seen some good movies. It made our purchase a little bit sweeter.

Wonder Woman 2 was horrible & there isn’t as much content as I thought there would be. No filler material though. Great movies but just not very many to choose from.

The main plus of HBOMax is the release of brand new movies on the streaming service but outside of that, its a fairly mundane offering of films.....

I appreciate these offers, but I did not use it. I prefer not to sign up for the free trials of some service simply because it's a gimmick to get you to stay on with the service. Something I'm just not interested in......

I wanted to watch game of thrones on my new sound setup, really enjoyed the series on my OLED as well. The quality on the service seemed to be in 4K but I was watching it on a 4K firestick so it might have been upscaled.

There isn't really enough content to keep me entertained for more than a month or 2 on HBO Max. I'll probably resubscribe for a month in the future to catch up on shows, but long-term this isn't an app for me.

HBO MAX had an overwhelming launch but now offers a ton of great content: HBO, Criterion Channel, Studio Ghibli, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, and now the same day WB theater/HBO Max 30-day releases... A definite steal

Some good movies. Most of them are not worth watching. You can find most of these movies on other websites. I'd say it is not worth a year subscription and I think there are better movie websites
