No follow-up

They asked me how much my budget was and then explained that they thought they could do the work within my budget. The told me they would get back with me in 2-3 days. They didn't leave any documents or contact info. They never got back with me. I guess my budget was to low. I finished the movie room myself.

Mismatch

Geek shows up, we go over our existing equipment vs our wishes and limitations of our house. He leaves house with promise to send proposal. Three weeks later still nothing. Call best buy. Answer; just go to your local store and tell them what you want. Then they can make you a price estimate. Is it just me or have I just wasted 7 Wks and am I back at square one? Strange product....

Amateur

Waited almost a week after initial consultation to get a quote. No calls, no e-mails. I couldn't reach this guy from Geek Squad by the phone for another couple of days. Finally went to the store, talked to the manager. Next day the guy called and told me some nonsense about wrong e-mail address. Sent me the quote later that day. And disappeared again :-) I never heard from him ever since. Went to Best Buy to buy at least some items from the quote to get back my $100 as a promised rebate. Guys at the store listened to my story and said that this guy is extremely busy all the time. Is he? Well, maybe he IS busy with customers. Wait, and who am I then? Anyway, amongst everything on the quote only pair of speaker stands were available :-) Okay, I ordered projector and received it several days later. But the rest of the quote was unavailable even for ordering. Anyway, I installed everything myself and saved me a grand or so :-)

Not sure what I was expecting but I didn't get it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After the consultant reviewed my situation, his only suggestion was not very convincing. The wireless connectivity didn't offer a positive solution and we had to almost force him to put his suggestions into writing. It seems like his 'bag of tricks' wasn't very full. We are now bringing in another non-BB consultant. At least the expense was applied to a future BB purchase so no real harm done but disappointing nevertheless.

Took a while....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While the consultation was fine, it took three weeks to receive a quote, and that was only after I emailed the technician asking about if I would ever receive it..... Other companies "free" quotes were received in days and they offered more options without having to ask how much longer I would have to wait. For $100, you would think BestBuy woul work harder at getting the information to the customer in a timely fashion.....

A total waste of money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into this thinking this was going to be very helpful for us, plus the $100 I spend would go towards our entertainment system so it’s a win, win. Was I ever wrong. The sales representative totally misled me, I don’t think he even knows what the home consultation is. Basically after my conversation with the sales representative I left the store believing someone would come to my house, give me their recommendations on a home entertainment system for that room and then total cost for equipment and installation. This was far from what happened. Basically he showed up, listened to what I had to say and said yes we can do some of that, but you need to hire an electrician and then a GC unless you are okay with wires being noticeable. Seriously? I didn’t need to spend $100 for someone to come into my house and agree with me, I can have someone at the store do that. So here I am ,out $100 dollars until I go in and spend either $300 or $500 on a home entertainment system and they will give me a credit. At least that’s what I was told. I don't even want to give it 1 star but how do you rate a negative? Do the research on your own, talk with friends before spending the $100.

Waste of Money and Time

I was already aware Geek Quad could perform the installation prior to them coming out. However in order for me to get on the calendar, I had to purchase the consultation. Made appointment for Geek Sqad - sometime between 1:00PM and 3:00PM. Waited the full 2 hours for the consultant to confirmed what I already knew; waste of time.

Twice misinformed by home entertainment sys techs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After describing my system (which Best Buy/Magnolia had spec'd and installed in my polebarn), I purchased a replacement stereo receiver based on the in-store rep's recommendation. When I tried to install the new receiver, it did not meet my needs. I tried to return the receiver and was instead sold an on-site consultation so the proper receiver could be recommended, with the consultation fee deducted from the total installation fee. The on-site tech looked at my system environment and said he understood my requirements. He quickly sent a proposal with the recommended receiver and installation fees. With the proposal in hand I again tried to return the receiver that I had purchased earlier. After much consternation, the tech manager reluctantly returned the purchase price. As a precaution, I obtained a second proposal from another vendor who had worked on my home entertainment system and was informed that the newly proposed receiver from Best Buy would not meet my needs either. As a result, the competitor is installing a new receiver tomorrow that will meet my needs. I will no longer consider Best Buy for my future home entertainment system needs.

Worthless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We asked if the Geek Squad could install our new flat screen tv on a wall in our house. We were told it would cost about $300, including the mount but a "consultant" would have to come to our house and make sure the wall was suitable for mounting aTV. We had to pay a $100 charge to have him come out, but the $100 was to be credited against our purchase. He came out and said the wall was OK but he would have to write up an estimate of what we needed and then he could schedule installation. Even though he promised his "report" in 2 days, we got it a week later. The estimate was almost $1100! I was stunned by the aggressiveness of the upsale. $75 for each HDMI wire! I had my electrician do the whole thing, including mount, hardware and HDMI wires for $300. I was offended by the whole process and will try and take my business elsewhere.

No follow up

The gentleman was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. However, when I am now at the buying stage, I cannot get a hold of him in order to purchase the equipment we discussed, and was not left the information either. I might have to do the process again.

Very, very poor customer service!!!

He then sent me an email of the quote that he added $449 on stuff I do not need nor want. However, I called him to discuss it and he never called me back. I then emailed him and guess what, no response. I then called Best Buy and talked to a Geek Squad Manager who told me that she would take care of it and someone would be calling me... Still waiting for that call. If I could put no stars on the rating I would.
