Promotions have wrong incentive structure

Most people I know already have these promotional services. The service providers don’t let you add them on to your existing service. I understand they are trying to lure new customers, but even a ‘discounted’ promotion would go a long way for me to remain a happy user. Make me feel like I’m ’winning’ something, like I’m coming out ahead for my purchases.
