It works okay for large quantities, but creates more mess and waste than using a box grater. I expect this will be less of a problem shredding, say, carrots.

I shredded carrots and wash the machine right after and still staying in the plastic. Then I tried to shred Monster cheese and it just made a blob of cheese.
