It eventually will cool the room, but not without an enourmous amount of noise. It appears the bottom of the casing has to fill with water because the only hole or drain is 1/2" above the bottom. Once it has shut off, and comes back on it sounds like someone pulled a plug in a bathtub. The instructions only warn you not to drill a hole in the bottom of the unit, an obvious solution to the bubbling noisey problem. We called in and questioned the design and were told to buy a drain for it. The unit is leaning backwards out the window and the hole 1/2" above the bottom is in the top or high poin of the unit. When you bring it back into the room to examine the problem you will have water all over your room. In addition there is a 1" thick piece of styrofoam in the middle of the unit that looks like it should be removed. But there is absolutely no way to get it out, eventually it will absorb all this water, rot and stink.

Evidently it cools the surrounding air and is picked up by the unit's sensor, but it doesn't reflect the true temperature of the room. Recommend with the understanding of a glitch.

Posted .Hi, Zork. We appreciate your feedback. It is true, the sensor is on the front of the a/c and that is where the temperature is read. It may not be a reflection of the exact temperature in other parts of the room. We do have some models with a temperature sensor on the remote to provide a more inclusive reading in other areas of the room, but on this model, the sensor on the unit itself is what determines when the appliance will turn back on. ~ Brandi
