Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.With a ~200 sq ft room I opted for the 6,000 btu version, which is rated to cool up to 250 sq ft. We had a week straight of 95 to 100 degree weather, and the unit kept the room reasonably cool. It's quieter than I expected, based on other reviews. Noise is subjective, of course. I find it tolerable. The slightly curved shape is aesthetically pleasing, but leaves gaps that allow hot air in. The panels are thin and flimsy (note: I don't know how they compare with other Frigidaire models or brands). I bought foam insulation made for a/c panels. I may even use R5 foamboard. Without the insulation, you can feel the air coming in. It has what I assume are standard features now for a/c's (I've had central a/c for the previous 9 years, haven't had to purchase a window unit). The remote has a thermometer. There's another model that can be used as a sensor, i.e. the temperature on the remote is what the a/c shoots for. I didn't have the money to spare for a pricier unit. I'm on the fence with my recommendation. I voted Yes because of the price/value factor.

It’ll go off every 10 minutes and then turn back on and jolt you awake with the loud and vibrating noises. Not sure if mine is broken or if this is just how the AC works, but I very much hope that it is broken because the noise is unreasonable.

If you are hearing vibrating noises, please ensure that the air conditioner is properly installed with all insulating materials and there are no loose components that may be vibrating against the chassis. If it is on Eco Mode, the air conditioner will fall completely silent for a time before the fan kicks in to cycle the air, followed by the compressor if needed. In Cool Mode, the fan will continually run and may lessen the shock of a sudden noise when the compressor turns on.
