Second machine doing the same thing.

It sounds like your ice maker is working exactly as intended. The ice full sensor is photo-electric and ice that is blocking the photosensor is triggering the ice full sensor.

The machine would continually make ice even though it was over full. the internals were straining against the build up to keep pushing out more ice cubes. The machine was returned with no issues.

For ice, fill the reservoir with water, choose from the three possible cube sizes, and have your first batch of ice in 6 minutes. Waste of time and money. Have to constantly empty it, ice doesnt stay frozen and starts melting and clumping. The tray only holds 1/3 of the capacity of ice than the reservoir does water, meaning for each water reservoir fill you'll need to empty the tray 3-4 times. Did I mention it takes over an hour to fill the tray? And will make all sorts of noises in the mean time. Makes enough ice for 2 people. If you have a family or party to serve, this is too small of a machine. We're going back to manually filling silicone trays. This was a total waste of time and money! As was taking the time to write this review. Oh the irony!

Terrible tasting ice

After running a couple of batches, and tossing those, the next batches tasted like plastic. I tried several rounds of cleaning with a vinegar solution and next with a lemon juice solution. Nothing got that taste out. I returned it and instead got an Insignia brand.

I thought the cubes were too soft when I collected them in a bag and put them in my big freezer. I discovered that when frozen that they break apart quite easily and are fine. Very pleased with this machine.
