This is a second unit that failed to work in less than what I expected to be, say 3-4 years but just over one year and it just not right. I need to look for another brand maybe...

Purchased for garage/basement after heavy spring rains caused minor flooding. Been running continuously for a month. IMO it works well and is simple to operate, remove water, clean filter. Removes air humidity you can feel which has been noticeable by everyone, also removes musty smells/odors that comes with high humidity conditions. Claims to be somewhat of an air purifier as well. Makes normally uncomfortable temperature conditions (say inside temps in the 80s) feel relatively comfortable, but Ive got it set to remove humidity levels to 35%. Will probably purchase another for living area of home just for this feature. Cant speak on longevity but Im very happy with the purchase and glad I went with this model.

I live in an apartment that sits on a river, so naturally it's ridiculously humid all the time. Couple that with the fact that my air conditioner is getting old and won't be replaced any time soon, and you get a really humid apartment. After months of my air conditioner not being able to keep up with the humidity and thus dripping condensation on the floor, I caved and spent the money on this dehumidifier. I can't believe it took me this long. I had no clue just how humid my place was. I have it set at 45% humidity (pretty ideal for a home) and it's running almost non-stop. The 8-quart bucket gets filled about once a day. Day one though, I put this thing to the test. The bucket was full in a few hours. It's so much easier to breathe at home now and I'm not worried about mold growing in spots I was previously worried about. Set up wise, this thing was incredibly easy. Getting it out of the box was a bit tricky, but if I had another person around it would have been a bit easier. All you have to do is pull the protective films/tape off, plug it in, and let it go! It will just keep on going until the bucket is full, at which point there's no way you're not going to hear the warning beeps. The bucket comes out really easily and doesn't spill all over the place while you're pulling it out or carrying it around to dump it out.

I had this running 24/7 for several days and it did a great job drying out my basement. I have a hose connected to it to allow this, but with the bucket it would run for around 12 hours before needing to be dumped. For a unit this size I think it runs fairly quiet no complaints. About as loud as a room fan on medium. I would recommend this unit for sure. Easy controls on the top and room humidity settings for auto operation. Weight is pretty good too. Not that heavy and the rollers make moving it around very easy.

Easy to set up and use. Fairly quiet operation. When empty it is fairly light and easy to move around (has wheels as well). I was dumping over a gallon of water from the catch bin twice a day, but it does have an option to connect a hose for continuous draining. You can set your desired humidity level.

Our 25 year old Kenmore unit finally died, so we bought this as a replacement after doing our research. First observation was the noise, specifically the lack of it! This unit is much quieter than our old one. Also realized how hot the old one ran, as this one really doesn't produce much heat at all. Finally, the hose hookup for the constant drain makes this unit trouble-free once it is hooked up. I was a bit worried that the fan would not shut off after reading some other reviews, but rest assured ... the fan DOES turn off, but only IF your set humidity has been reached, the fan finishes its 2-3 min cycle (to blow the condensation off the coils) and the humidity remains below your current setting. For the first 3-4 days, my unit never shut down (did I mention the old one died, and it was July in NH, so things were rather soupy). Then, once it reached the desired humidity setting (45%), the condenser would shut down, but the fan would continue running. Before the fan would finish its 2-3 min 'drying' cycle, however, the humidity level would rise again and the condenser would kick on. Now, about 2 weeks in, the unit actually does shut down for periods of time. I expect these periods will lengthen as the humidity drops and my well water stops condensing on my pipes due to the heat/humidity.

It's still very new, but this dehumidifier seems to be doing the job. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it seems like it runs more constantly than the GE I replaced. It's definitely pulling water out of the air. I have it in the basement, so I let it drain into the floor drain and I keep can hear steady droplets on humid days. I feel like it helps take the strain off of our central air unit, which is several years old. I'm able to set the ac temp higher in our house by removing more of the humidity in the basement. I'll wait to see how long it lasts. I bought an extended warranty. So far, I'm very relieved to have this. It had only taken a few days for the basement to smell/feel musty after the GE stopped dehumidifying (even though it continued to run).

It has done a great job with keeping my basement dry and mold-free. I bought this same model 2 yrs ago and loved it so much that I bought this one again for a friend in need of a basement dehumidifier to abate mold and reduce humidity. My basement is roughly 600 Sqr ft and open plan/unfinished. When I first bought house two yrs ago, the previous owner left me with a terrible dehumidifier that didn’t work well and the basement never smelled dry enough. He even had two dehumidifiers running. I recycled the one he left me and bought this after reading a lot of reviews. This works well even in colder temps and the humidity setting works very well. I don’t use a humidistat, as many would recommend, to get accurate humidity reading b/c it always feels nice a dry in basement since I bought it. And no reoccurring humid feel or moldy basement smell since. I don’t need an accurate reading b/c as long as it is somewhere between 35-50% humidity I’m okay. I have the dehumidifier draining to my basement sink in one corner of room so I couple it with a cheap small personal rotating desk fan to keep air in basement circulating so the humidity is more evenly distributed and I don’t have dehumidifier only drying air in the one corner section of air. Works like a charm. Only a few small issues: 1) The hose connector in back could be designed a little better and not so tightly attached to backside so you can twist hose connector a little easier (not as cumbersome/difficult) to tighten w/o hitting machine back. 2) The machine, given the price of machine and cheapness of the small parts, should automatically include drainage hose and connector (dumping water bucket all the time if you use this a lot is not practical). 3) the bucket easily gets moldy/mildew grime from pulling in unclean moist air so the bucket inside should be made easier to clean. Way too many tight corners to even get a brush in there to properly brush and clean up build up over time 4) the lid on bucket is not the easiest to open or re-close. Each time I am afraid I will break the clear plastic lid just to clean the build up 5) When attaching drain hose to automatically dispense water into a sink (vs. into bucket that must be routinely emptied) the bucket doesn’t close snuggly enough to prevent some water from dribbling down side corner and pooling outside. This only happens if you are attaching to drain hose and doesn’t seem to be much of an issue when just employing the bucket for drainage. Could design funnel and bucket for capturing moisture pulled from air better. 6) The auto shutdown after reaching a humidity setting seems to be a bit laggy. I set humidity for 40% and sometimes humidity reading on the machine reads 35% but hasn’t shut down. Auto shutdown could be improved to save energy. All in all works wells at its main task of dehumidifying. No complaints on this :)

Frigidaire 50 pt dehumidifier I read many reviews on various brands. There were several reviews about "the best ten dehumidifiers".  None of them listed this unit. However I did noticed that all of the "ten best" had some poor reviews that were consistent with regards to poor customer service in the event of a problem and poor longevity.  None of the reviews that I found on this dehumidifier had any consistent poor reviews about an issue. Although it was a discontinued model I decided to choose this one. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the unit came. It came less than 24 hours after I ordered it online. I live in Hawaii and it was shipped from California to my home. Wow. The unit is used in a basement like area, so I've had a constant black and yellow mold problem on my baseboards, floors, and walls. This basement has a bathroom, large living area, and 2 bedrooms, as well as storage space under stairs and also has a storage room. The unit came undamaged and packaged in its original box. There was no additional packing. As instructed, I let it sit upright for several hours before turning it on. I've chosen to empty the bucket rather than use the constant drain attachment. By emptying the bucket consistently I am hoping to avoid the mold buildup if I used the hose drainage option.  Also by emptying the bucket consistently I would also expect less mold accumulation in the bucket as well.  I've chosen to not use the handle to carry the bucket. The bucket handle swivel mechanism seems relatively fragile (it's made of plastic). As a result I've chosen to carry the bucket by holding onto the bottom of the bucket.  I use the water to water my plants. The unit fills up about once every 24 hours.  It turns off automatically when it is full and there is also a little red ball that floats and tells you how high the water level is in the bucket. The unit seems to keep humidity at about 45%. I've tried to change that to 50% but it doesn't seem to do that. Maybe I'm not using/adjusting it the right way. I've had this unit less than a month so I can't comment on durability.  My floors are not sticky/damp anymore.  We'll see if that affects the mold growth. The basement smells better. By its very nature, the unit will generate warm air, but it's certainly not hot or uncomfortable.  I don't feel there is excessive noise but we don't spend most of our time down in the basement anyway. I've also chosen to place a rubberized mat below the unit to lessen vibration. So far I've been quite happy with the unit, and for my particular situation I give it 5 stars for now. Unless they make the swivel mechanism out of stainless steel, I would not recommend carrying the bucket by its handle.  I can see that if one has arthritic issues with their hands, emptying this bucket could be a problem.

Had to purchase a new dehumidifier to replace one that was only 15 months old. Bought at Best Buy. Frigidaire replaced the old one for free even though the warranty had expired. The process took 3 weeks so I had to buy a new one since late July and early August are humid here in Ohio. So now I have two new 50 pint dehumidifiers. They do a great job. Hope that these last longer. Thumbs up to Frigidaire for replacing the first unit under warranty!

For a few years I have had a smell in my basement that we all blamed on the carpet. We steam cleaned it numerous times, gave it a baking soda soaking, trying using those dollar tree humidifiers, and so on and so forth but nothing seemed to help. Due to no one really using the basement too often the issue was just tossed aside and forgotten about. This summer, however, I wanted to utilize my basement and make it functional again. After another round of carpet steam cleaning I purchased this dehumidifier and let it do its thing. After four days, the smell was completely gone. The humidity was completely gone. The room felt rejuvenated. I am still amazed at how effective this dehumidifier was. It's been about two weeks now and it is pulling 100+ pints out of the air daily. I know this because I personally empty the full 50 pint tank out about every 8-10 hours. I haven't tried any other dehumidifier so I can't comment on how it compares to other models and brands but if you order this you should not be disappointed.

This thing really sucks...the moisture out of the air, that is!. We never realized how much moisture is in the air until we got this thing up and running. It's perfect in the laundry room, and when I hang up damp clothes to line dry, with this little baby sucking 70% of the moisture out of the air, those clothes are dry in just a couple of hours. Just remember to empty the bucket. Ours gets full in less than 24 hours. It has an automatic shut off, so the bucket won't overflow.

When my basement dehumidifier breathed its last, I knew I had to keep mechanical means in place to preserve my stuff. This little powerhouse is super easy to set up. I use the hose outlet for continuous drain, drop that into a Little Giant pump, and the accumulated moisture disappears into an outside drain. It's relatively quiet, the manual is reasonably complete, and it does the job. Fairly priced, stocked at my local store. Who could want more?

We had an emergency in our home and they did repairs and ran professional dehumidifers but we wanted to keep them running in other areas and it's amazing how well this works. Will probably be put away until summer but great machine for what we need it for. Keeps moisture down. Cons: Wish it had an easy way to vent the heat so it doesn't heat the room up that it's pulling the moisture out of the air of.
