LOUD!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these last year (without reading reviews - Frigidaire is/was a good make I thought). Well, I agree with people who complain that it is noisy - terribly, ridiculously noisy. Both of them. So disappointing. While they both cool perfectly well, I have to replace them because the noise was driving everone in the house crazy. Stuffing folded paper, foam, even expanding glue, works for a day or so, them the shuddering and incessant vibrating begins again. NOT recommended.

Gets the job done for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This A/C unit is pretty good. It can be quite noisy but for the price they pretty much all are. Used one season and so far no issues.

Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these at the height of our summer heatwave. The units are small, powerful, efficient, and easy to set up. I would recommend them to anyone. HINT: Buy them after September for the best deals. This one's price dropped $30 since I purchased my pair in July.

Dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a horrible and jarring vibration/rattling noise that comes from the plastic cover of the A/C, which is so loud that I cannot sleep through it and literally shakes the whole room. I've reinstalled this unit 3 different times in the same window and use plenty enough foam padding, and the only solution to this vibrating is manually putting pressure on top of the plastic (clarification- the cover is basically what you see from your room and where the vent and controls are). Temporary solution was to stick duct tape in small opening between cover and a/c- dampens vibration a bit. I'm too annoyed right now to uninstall it and remove all the duct tape and weights on top of the unit and return it to the store because I have a feeling a new one will have the same problem causing even more frustration. It also takes a while to cool the room down, my room is about 144 square feet and it takes a little over half an hour to feel any difference in temperature. The only good thing about this unit is the timer setting that can cool down the room before I get back from work. This unit is a complete waste of money, time, and frustration.

Praise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got this to help cut our bills down. Love it! Our electric bill is 1/3 of what it use to be. During the summer (110 degree) we just ran this window unit and it cooled the whole house with no issues.

highly dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look, it works. It has an on and off button. The remote control is convenient. it has an energy saver option. But I,ve had other 5000 btu a/c's from less popular companies for 99 bucks that do a better job. But from Fridgidair i expected frigid air. I spend hours sweating before the room gets cool. Then its time to wake up and go to work. Biggest dissapointment ever. my room is about 10 x 11 with 10 foot ceilings. Should be an ideal situation. NOT.

After One Summer Full of Mold and Bugs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 3 of these units for my home and they worked very well initially. Towards the end of the summer I started noticing moldy/ musty smell just after turning the units on, then noticed when the units were on I would start sneezing etc. I also noticed an increase in insects where the units were located. Finally took the cover off one of the units and it was disgusting! Full of mold, rust and insects. There seems to be a design flaw that doesn't allow rain or condensation to drain from the unit, additionally, the interior is very poorly sealed and in some places not sealed at all. Incredibly bad quality. So, this is a great unit if you only use it for one season. If you need an air conditioner to last- steer clear of this one!

What has happened to Frigidaire
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these a/c units. The first the eco was not functioning correctly. I'd set the temp for 70 degrees, but the room was over 76 degrees. It was noisy as well, so I returned it. The 2nd the eco mode worked, but the cool mode nor the eco mode would not cool the room to the set temperature of 70 or 72 degrees. The room is a small bedroom of 8x10, so it was not able to handle 150 square feet at all. I called Frigidaire to see if there was anything they could, but no they couldn't help me on the 1st unit at all and the 2nd one I just returned. Best buy did take both units back and sold me a 6000 BTU Frigidaire, but that was a worse nightmare. Best Buy fully supported my return of four, yes I said four Frigidaire a/c units within a week and you can read my review on those 6000 BTU units on that products review. I rate Best Buy highly in this whole a/c nightmare, but I do not recommend Frigidaire to anyone. If I could I'd give Frigidaire 0 stars.....Frigidaire is junk as far I can see.

Does the Job.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this little a/c unit for some extra cooling power in my home office since I have a lot of computers and other electronics running. Set up was very simple in my vinyl retrofitted office window. The unit does work, just takes a little while to actually cool off in the mid day heat. Once dusk hits it works extremely well.

Incredibly loud . . . until it broke
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this a year or two ago. It was shockingly loud, but did the job, but over the past week it suddenly got even louder, which apparently was the sound of the fan breaking. So now it's garbage. Perhaps we got a bad unit and the non-defective ones are quiet, but I'm not buying this one again.

Waste Of Money - AC Should've Lasted Longer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me put it to you this way...this so-called air conditioner is a piece of....you know what! If I could give it no stars, believe me, I would! Only lasted two years before it broke down. Two years. When the first wave of heat hit this summer, I closed the windows, turned on the AC. The item turned on, but that was about it. Barely a hum was heard, but no cooling, no nothing. When we called the company to see if it was still under warranty, they gave us the runaround. Supposedly we also needed to show/fax them over the receipt from the store where we purchased this heap of (blank) from, along with other info. Of course they suggested that we should take it in for repairs. Okay, right. I live in NYC without a car. So I have to waste even more money for a cab, haul this heavy item in, and get ripped off more from a third-person repair shop. My gut feeling was it was better to get a new AC in the long run. However, I shouldn't have to resort to that. I should have a two year air conditioner still being able to work. Plus I don't have money to blow on a new AC with a mere snap of the fingers. So heed this warning. Avoid this product at all costs.

Couldn't cool a small bedroom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Based on BTU/square footage recommendations, I purchased this A/C unit. I have a small 11X12 bedroom on the southwest corner of the house, it is always receiving sun. This unit wasn't able to adequately cool the room enough for me to justify keeping it. If the bedroom wasn't in the hottest part of the house this unit may have faired a little better.

Poor operation and no customer service support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ran this machine for 3 straight hours in a small bedroom and the temperature didn't drop a single degree. In fact it actually became hotter... the trouble shooting guide said that the temperature sensing element could be touching a cold coil behind the air filter. I removed the air filter but did not see a way to straighten the sensing element away from the coil without unscrewing the whole front of the devise. So I called Frigidaire customer service, and after being bumped around several different phone numbers, navigating a menu maze, and being put on hold for 15 minutes - they hung up on me. So I called back and got a manager on the phone who was more concerned with finding out who hung up on me than actually helping me get the air conditioner working... it took some prying but I did eventually get the grill off to check to see if the sensing element was touching a coil. It didn't seem like anything was out of place - of course the people at Frigidaire couldn't even tell me what the sensing element looks like. So now I have the whole thing reassembled and it's still spitting warm air... my entire day was wasted dealing with a simple window air unit... and now I have to pull it back out, take it down three flights of stairs, and go back to best buy... I will never buy this brand again.

Good for a closet size room!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this AC yesterday for a small room. The only way you can get a cool sensation is if you stand right in front of it. The cool air reaches about 4 feet from the AC only!!!The remainder of the room is at a constant 80 degrees no matter how low I put the AC! I wouldn't mind the two velocities if at least it would cool part of the room...I'm returning it tomorrow!!!!

okay for very small rooms
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works alright, but it needs to be on high all the time in order to really cool off the room.
