Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit because of all the good reviews. Unfortunately it barely cools my living room and i'm not sure if its the unit or the room is too big. We can have it on for 3 hours and it helps with the humidity but doesn't actually make it cold. My room is about 16x10 so it should be fine, guess it might just be a fluke and I need a bigger unit

Decent cooling capability, bad choice for a bedroo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Avoid this air conditioner for use in a bedroom - it runs very loud, but in an annoyingly loud way (i.e. rattles, clicks, volume increases/decreases intermittently, etc.); I could probably deal with a steady loud running volume, but this keeps my up all night when on. However, it does has decent cooling capabilities for small rooms.

BEWARE: THIS UNIT'S FRESH AIR VENT CAN'T CLOSE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After I got this unit home and installed it, I noticed a lot of light coming in behind the air vents on the top front of unit. I realized that the fresh air vent was open. Even though the user's guide shows that some models can close the air vent, this model cannot. There is no warning of this on the box or on the ad. In the printed materials, it says to achieve the stated high EER efficiency rating, the fresh air vent must be closed. It makes no sense to continue to suck in hot air from the outside, unless you want to do it with the fan (at night, for example#. I don't believe that this unit can actually achieve its stated rating. I didn't find the store where I picked it up #Willow Grove, PA# to be helpful. They wanted me to drive back to the store with my receipt before they could talk with me about it. No option was offered to fax or scan #and e-mail as a pdf#. 800-BEST-BUY kept me on the phone for an hour #calling the manufacturer, who just confirmed that this model did not have an air vent closure available.

Great airconditioner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought mine at the end of 2014 season and it worked great. Started it up in April 2015 and it sounds like a bearing going out.

Cools, but front grille rattles
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous review on this unit and Bestbuy customer service disappeared... I'll still post another, differently presented: 1. The EER rating is high, presumably good to lower costs for the electricity bill, particularly on energy saver mode, though I encountered and issue with this feature. 2. Its not (too) heavy. Needed to drag it to the 4th floor. 3. Side curtains worked ok on my narrower windows, but their insulation is poor - there is a construction nearby and I can hear workers talking, when AC is off. Imagine when they are cutting metal, throwing stuff, etc. NY noise, but when installing the AC, one would probably want to take into account this in a big and noisy city. The previous AC unit had acrylic windows on the sides. Two sheets per side, but this unit is smaller and I will either cut new ones or re-cut the existing ones, though might face plexiglas sizing issues. I had this problem on another AC that I bought one month ago. 4. Now cooling - this replaced an old (&infected) and rattling Haier 6,000BTU unit. The first two days of operation this unit under-performed. Needed more time to cool than the old Haier and was weak. Now it seems to be working ok (I did a reset). 5. Energy saver mode - I used it over night and woke up all covered in sweat, unlike the 2014 LG unit I bought for my kids that works very well. No such problems with that one. I had to shift it to cool mode - not sure how this will reflect on the bill. 6. Front grille is rattling. I simply place my finger on it and it stops rattling. Its too loose. Also first two days was thinking to return it for this noise reason and initially weak flow, mentioned above. 7. Not that silent - The operation (not only front grille) is louder than the 2014 LG unit I bought for my kids room. I would not buy this Frigidaire unit anymore because of the noise and I will buy LGs in the future, as I might need several more. 8. The remote - here is why, I think, my post mysteriously disappeared the first time. The remote is advertised by the Bestbuy as a full-functioning remote. This unit is known in many reviews for the temperature sensing (on the remote, not only on the unit) and temperature showing remote. This was a serious reason why I was buying this unit. The remote that came has no temperature sensing and shows no temp on the screen (shows nothing in fact). When I called Bestbuy Customer service I was told that Bestbuy only resells these units and I should call Frigidaire customer care. I did call Frigidaire today - they confirmed that my unit comes with no sensor, no showing remote. Why is this advertised by Bestbuy as a full-function remote then? I do not know. I can not see the temps if I want to change them from my bed at night or fan speed from this remote - I can of course do that in front of the unit (but then why do I need such a remote). I do not mind changing the temps from the AC or close to it from the remote, but I feel I was mislead by the description and this is not ok. Nor the idea that we hold no responsibility for what we sell, so you should call the manufacturer. I would strongly advise to Bestbuy to review its description to avoid misinterpretations.

Great value in a smaller A/C unit!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 of these Frigidaire window a/c units, and they all work great. They are little workhorses and cool the rooms in my house very well. One of the units is on almost 24/7, and the other two I only turn on when I need them on. The various settings available on these a/c units is far superior to what's available on my central a/c unit, and I'm a strong opponent for that! The economy mode and sleep settings are exactly what I wanted, and Frigidaire delivered on these. One of these 6000btu units keeps my office, den, and kitchen nice and cool (3 rooms!), and the other two are in bedrooms. The ones in the bedrooms can really freeze me out during the night. Honestly, I don't know why anyone wouldn't give these either 4 or 5 stars.

Doesn't cool!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read reviews and thought this would be a good option to replace my 5200 BTU AC which had just broken. It does not cool at all! Not one bit, even standing right in front of it. I would have returned it but we installed it before finding this out. It is in a finished basement room and it does dehumidify, which I guess it more important. I cannot get the room below 76 degrees, my older unit kept it at about 67.

Almost great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my old Frigidaire AC which was making a lot of noise and stopped cooling (tried to have it repaired but it was going to cost $300). When first installed, it was quiet as a whisper (the blowing of air still is). By day 3, it was making so much noise (clicking and tapping) that I thought it was raining. I thought maybe it was the compressor but it makes the same noise in Fan only and at all speeds. It is by the way the same exact noise my old AC was making which leads me to believe it is a Frigidaire issue. I am returning and going to try an LG.

Good AC but accumulates mold.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this back in 2015 and it lasted me until 2021. I noticed after having it in storage during the winter there was a musty odor coming from it every time I used it and come to find out it was black mold. I tired cleaning it but It is hard to open up to clean. It wasn't kept in a moist environment so I don't know how this happened because all the other ACs we kept in storage didn't have this problem and they were older and from a different brand. It did last me 6 years but to spend $250.00 is a waste if this was going to happen in the long run.

Very Noisy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Frigidaire 12,000 BTU unit is quieter than this 6,000 one which I purchased for a small bedroom. Something has changed with their manufacturing. This unit is very loud. When the condenser is on it is very loud. I also randomly get a whining/squeak from the fan whether the condenser is on or off. The unit vibrates which is the cause of the noise. I think the problem is they are making them more lightweight and smaller with a less solid casing which doesn't cushion the noise/vibrations from the condenser. If you're a light sleeper I would not recommend this unit.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.REALY BAD CHOICE. NO COOLING ALMOST AT ALL...JUST A LITTLE BITT. Less BTU's better than too many btu's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I keep reading reviews where the consumer bought more btu's than they need. Even Consumer reports rated AC 's with an oversized unit .AN AC WILL NOT WORK WHEN OVERSIZED (BTU'S) .It will keep turning on and off an do nothing. I cool my 2850 sq ft home with a 5600 btu window unit. On a 100 degree day I turn on two 5600 btu units. 90% of the days I use one of them. I once had a 11,000 btu unit in a 140 sq ft room and it would never cool or take out the humidity. So undersize the room and you will be cooler. I will never buy a unit over 6000 btus ever again.

Not for side slide windows!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nowhere in the description does it say that this only installs in vertical opening windows. All of my windows open horizontal and that just doesn't work.

Stopped working in less than a month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these for my 400 square foot apartment. As other reviewers have noted, this is really only good for 200 square feet or less. If I want my 215 square foot living room to be 72 degrees, I have to set the unit to 65. My primary complaint about this product is that the compressor stopped working after only 21 days. I used the one in my bedroom around 10 hours a day, and kept it on the economy setting (which cycles the compressor on and off). However, at the end of the third week the compressor stopped working completely. I let it sit for a while in case it has overheated, but it did not start again. Bottom line: this product is a waste of money.
